From the moment we arrived to when we left we were very well looked after. On arrival we were greeted and offered complimentary drinks in an area near reception. We were then shown to our room, rather than being told which floor we were. Our bedroom was very large and the air conditioning was a bonus as it was very warm outside. We had a comfortable bed, nice touch staff coming in early evening to turn bedsheets down and putting water beside beds. Separate toilet/bathroom with two sinks and decent shower. Reception staff, sorry too many of you to mention, were really helpful, whether it be getting taxis, booking restaurants for us and where to go. Breakfast was brought to your table and there was plenty of it. Perhaps more hot food rather than just eggs in different forms? Star man for us was Alessandro. We met him on our first night, we were here for 5 nights, and no matter what time of day we saw him he always came up and chatted with us and is a really nice person. Overall this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and is close to all main attractions in the city and only a short walk from train station. We will definitely return at some stage. I arrived with my septuagenarian parents on April 27 for a week-long stay. The hotel provided us with the right room classification on arrival, but I was concerned that the suite was single bathroom instead of two and the closet space was not optimal for our needs. Annamaria, Victoria and Samuele stand out as front office staff who listened and acted swiftly to help address our request for help and resolved the issue the next day. That was the first wow moment of our stay. I also recommend the breakfast (came with our reservation package) and you should take advantage of the Rooftop Bar, the view of the Duomo and across the city 360 degress is suberb. After 10+ visits to Florence, this hotel has become my new preferred location and I anticipate returning here in the years to come.

Grab an outside seat in front of the hotel, order a 45 - 55 Euro decent Tuscan bottle of red and sit back, enjoy the Florence City Centre ambience and the best Olives you will ever eat, plus crisps. They happen to be complimentary Olives, but money can buy no finer Olives anyhow. The staff are stylish, ultra professional and friendly. Technically you are sitting in the outside veranda of the Irene restaurant, of the Hotel Savoy, one of Ultra Hotelier Rocco Forte's properties. I have literally palatial historical holiday apartment nearby (please take that as not a brag but adult channelled childhood excitement that I got so luck, plus context for not staying) which means I have never needed to stay at Hotel Savoy, but I have come for breakfast with my wife and son...and also with friends and even alone. Breakfast was 45 Euro plus tip service charge per adult and my 3 year old was politely uncharged despite a healthy appetite from my plate. It is an excellent feast and the orange juice is excellent quality ..if you order from the kitchen (price included) you will not feel hungry until the evening. Staying at Hotel Savoy will usually put you back real money (think 1190 Euro a night for standard room in mid May 2024) but I have never heard a friend who stayed here do anything but praise the staff and rooms and food..with a sometimes guilty ”jeepers it cost a bit”. I have had maybe 4 dinners at the Restaurant Irene, all excellent in every way. The Hotel Savoy has the best (in my opinion) 5* hotel location in Florence, on the Piazza della Repubblica and every meal I have had there is 5*. Going back for breakfast on the 11th April and cannot wait. There is a small gym I've noted, and on a couple of occasions the lovely staff have allowed me to have lunch served in a large underground room that sometimes serves as a playroom, allowing my toddler free range as I have a relatively calm lunch, that experience alone is priceless and especially thoughtful towards a a non residential hotel guest Overall 5* in all ways I have experienced.

Very good and charismatic place right in the middle of everything in Florence: shops, museums and restaurants, you can get anywhere within few minutes of walking. The front desk in very limited time arranged for us a short (we stayed 4 nights only), but not easy to execute program including a day in Chianti with 2 private winery visits (wineries from my list) and provided us with plenty restaurant recommendations. Which truth be told turned out to be better than couple of restaurants we found ourselves searching and reading reviews. The minuses. We were staying in a suite on the 2nd floor, which in Vecchietti is actually quite high due to high ceilings on each floor. The windows were to a side street and upon arrival we were assured that the windows are soundproof. But every night we were woken-up several times first by various partygoers returning back to the hotels/apartments and next by communal services collecting the garbage. The shower is tiny, has stone tiles floor and a big window that saw better times, which is letting in plenty of air from the outside. Even sitting on the toilet, which is located next to the shower door, (excuse me for details) one can feel cold air blowing from the shower door, which can’t be closed completely. On top of that one of the maids always found it a good idea to leave that window open for the whole day after leaving the room doing the cleaning. This being in November already. So, going into that shower was an ordeal every time.

The hotel is in a good location, very near city center and attractions. The hotel is renovated and very clean and luxurious. The check-in process was smooth, and the reception staff was very pleasant. The room they called junior suite but was just a bed with two chairs at the bottom of the bed. Still the room was nice, housekeeping did a good job. We were very happy the first day. From doormen to the reception and concierge, the staff members were pleasant. Concierge was very helpful. Next day at breakfast, however, we were disappointed by a small spread. Way smaller than other hotels in that category. Then a worker in the buffet area (didn’t catch his name, wears a black uniform) and another staff member were unprofessional and annoying, not just us but some other guests too. I asked if I could get crispy bacon, the fellow started lecturing me as to how rare is better and so on. He did serve it but showed resentment. Another server gave coffee in open pot (just like a soup pot) instead of a properly closed pot and when I mentioned that it will get cold, the waiter started lecturing that it is real silver and does not get cold, (coffee will get cold if left open and in fact colder as silver is a metal than in ceramic) Flaunting that it was a real silver was weird as most guests who can afford this hotel probably do have several silver sets at home ( we do). After that encounter, the previous fellow (in black uniform) came to our table and started grilling us with questions, asking our room number again and asking where we came from and sarcastically attempted to ridicule us. Then I found that he was also misbehaving with other American tourists, especially the ones dressed in shorts and casual outfits. A couple walked in 10 minutes before the closing time and this person started taking away the items as this couple was approaching to take them in the buffet area. Coincidently we met that couple at a tour, they mentioned that his dislike of Americans and people of another ethnicity is so obvious that they would skip breakfast to avoid spoiling another morning. After that experience, we decided not to eat in their restaurants or bar that evening as probably we would have more bad experiences.

I arrived early and the offered to store my luggage at the reception and they delivered to my room, that’s nice. There was no briefing on the breakfast arrangements at check in, they assume bay you know. My room is an end unit with a single bed, which is good for me, the bathroom is pleasantly big, and I do enjoyed the bath. Shower is good too with good water pressure. I found a pair of slippers inside the drawer of the bedside table instead of in the closet, they are comfortable. The whole 3 nights I stayed without Wi-Fi, they couldn’t fix it! The electric outlet has three holes so you need to bring the specific adapter as there no usb port to charge gadgets. I changed mine in the bathroom as my two pint adapters worked there. No kettle in the room but they kindly delivered some hot water to my room when I requested. The second night they told me to go downstairs to get it. TV has international news channels except CNN but that’s ok for me. Lifts are efficient.

This is a lovely, clean hotel with good facilities and location and an excellent breakfast. It has a very traditional decor, with a modern bathroom. Our room was pleasant enough but the window faced a wall and had huge shutters which we couldn't open. Hence, there was hardly any natural light in the room. I also found the staff a bit unfriendly, especially at the reception desk. There was no greeting if you walked past, and they did seem slightly condescending - not the usual friendliness you would expect on a reception desk. The staff at breakfast were much nicer. I liked this hotel, but a little friendliness and a smile go a long way and would have enhanced our stay.

Fabulous location, friendly staff. Rooms appear clean, and the wifi is decent when you can connect. This place could be excellent, but the devil is in the details. The water temperatures (hot/cold) were reversed in the shower. There is no minibar, and the vending machine on the floor was indecipherable when it came to payment, rendering it useless. The elevators are slow and make grating noises when the doors open and are inadequate given the extremely high traffic in and out. The laundry service was good and on time. Breakfast was adequate at best. I may consider staying here again, but not at €300+/night.

I normally don't write reviews but after staying in this lovely hotel for 3 nights I had to share my experience. The staff were so wonderful and accommodating that my family and I will definitely come back and make this our permanent accommodation. This was a family trip so we booked two rooms (twin bedroom and a full size bedroom) The rooms were clean, modern, spacious, and had such a lovely scent coming in. We were greeted warmly by the staff who helped us carry our luggage to the second floor of where the hotel is located. Please be aware there is no elevator/lift. The hotel location is situated walking minutes away from the main attractions, everything was about a 5 to 15 min walk away. The Free breakfast was perfect as they served pastries, coffee, juice, fruit, three different types of meats, yogurt and cheese. We met the hotel owner who was so nice and welcoming and even helped us with our heavy bags as it was our last day. I can't express how happy I am with choosing this hotel!! I definitely would recommend this place. Thank you for making our trip to Florence that much better.

So first off, this hotel is very well located - right between the Santa Maria Dome and Academia Galleria with the famous statue of David. Staying in the historic district is a big plus and avoids commuting back and forth from other places, saving a lot of time. The hotel is about an 18 min walk from the main train station Firenze Santa Maria Novella. It had been raining the night we arrived, so was not an extremely pleasant walk. It will be raining when we leave, and plan to get a cab. Lots of cobblestones, so make sure your wheeled suitcases can take the abuse! There is a direct tram right outside the airport that brings you to the above mentioned train station. Don’t waste money on cabs because this is quite frequent and convenient. The hotel itself - I base this experience on a few things. We are a family of four, and the first night we were given a room after walking through a labyrinth of passages - made it very difficult to find. The rooms are non-standard - for example, this one had four single beds. It had mosquitoes as other travellers have mentioned, but that is probably because folks couldn’t figure out how to make the air conditioner work, and opened the windows and balcony door. We did this too, until we figured out the a/C system. Tip - when they show you your room, ask them to turn on the a/c. The rooms do not have a line to call the front desk, so was a bit of a hassle finding the way in the middle of the night. Until we figured the exit signs. We also found there was no standing shower or a place to put your things. There was a shower head in the tub, needless to say there was a pool on the floor by the time the four of us finished showering. Next morning, we poured our complaints to the front desk. They immediately obliged and moved us to a much nicer room with a double bed and two single beds, a proper standing shower with a glass enclosure, and right next to the front desk. This was a MUCH nicer room and made our experience worthwhile. The staff is extremely friendly, gave us fresh made coffee when we missed breakfast, opened up our wine bottles and gave us glasses when we asked, booked taxis when we needed, gave us guidance to nearby attractions and very helpful in general. The key is that the hotel is non-standard. So expect to find some oddities - if you are not happy with your room, ask for another that might better meet your needs. I happily recommend this hotel to others thinking about it.

My husband and I stayed at the Palazzo Tolomei for three nights at the end of September 2023. It was a truly exceptional experience. Signora Agnelli - Daniela, and her staff are the most warm and welcoming hosts I’ve ever met. They made restaurant reservations for us as a matter of course. And when getting a taxi proved impossible, Daniela offered to have one of her staff walk us and our bags to the car rental! The Palazzo is gorgeous. It is in a great location, walking distance to everything and has an elevator. Our room was huge, frescoes on the ceiling, seating area with sofa and easy chairs, a welcoming bottle of sparkling wine, biscotti and candy. Very comfortable bed, great A/C. Great rain shower in a roomy bathroom. Breakfast is amazing. Do not miss it! Juice, made to order coffee, yogurt, granola, croissants, various rolls, focaccia, cheese and salamis, hot freshly prepared eggs, special Florentino cakes and pastries!! While the number of “courses” is constant, the items and dishes change every day. As I said before, do not miss it! We had an amazing stay and would whole heartedly recommend it.
