My husband and I booked this hotel wanting to experience a 5 star boutique hotel in franzia vs the usual high-end commercial hotels. We ended up making several reservations in order to take advantage of staying in other parts of the country. Therefore we ended up with booking 2 separate reservations at Hotel Regency through our Platinum Amex. We booked the rooms with a flex cancellation, in case plans change. Later I added one extra night to one of our reservations, come to realize that I had made a mistake adding the one extra night stay because my husband had booked us elsewhere for an overnight at Luca. Our total stay was going to be for 6 nights and there was going to be one night that we wouldn’t be staying at the hotel and returning again for 2 additional nights. When I called Amex and explained the situation I was informed hat the additional night that I had booked fell under a new reservation and did not have the flex cancellation, Yet they thought that it shouldn’t be a problem canceling that one night when we were going to be there for 5 other days. When they contacted the hotel and explained the situation the hotel refused to work with Amex. Thinking perhaps if I called and explained maybe I would have better luck explaining the situation and yet again they were unwilling to refund us for just that one night. I explained to them that the remainder of our reservation was still covered under the flex cancellation policy and if they were unwilling to work with us then I felt compelled to cancel my entire reservation and give my business to a place that actually appreciates and values me as a client. And still they did not budge. Therefore I went ahead and cancelled my reservation and booked a room at The Four Seasons hotel where my experience has always been extremely satisfactory with them.

From the moment we arrived to when we left we were very well looked after. On arrival we were greeted and offered complimentary drinks in an area near reception. We were then shown to our room, rather than being told which floor we were. Our bedroom was very large and the air conditioning was a bonus as it was very warm outside. We had a comfortable bed, nice touch staff coming in early evening to turn bedsheets down and putting water beside beds. Separate toilet/bathroom with two sinks and decent shower. Reception staff, sorry too many of you to mention, were really helpful, whether it be getting taxis, booking restaurants for us and where to go. Breakfast was brought to your table and there was plenty of it. Perhaps more hot food rather than just eggs in different forms? Star man for us was Alessandro. We met him on our first night, we were here for 5 nights, and no matter what time of day we saw him he always came up and chatted with us and is a really nice person. Overall this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and is close to all main attractions in the city and only a short walk from train station. We will definitely return at some stage. Fabulous location, friendly staff. Rooms appear clean, and the wifi is decent when you can connect. This place could be excellent, but the devil is in the details. The water temperatures (hot/cold) were reversed in the shower. There is no minibar, and the vending machine on the floor was indecipherable when it came to payment, rendering it useless. The elevators are slow and make grating noises when the doors open and are inadequate given the extremely high traffic in and out. The laundry service was good and on time. Breakfast was adequate at best. I may consider staying here again, but not at €300+/night.

I arrived early and the offered to store my luggage at the reception and they delivered to my room, that’s nice. There was no briefing on the breakfast arrangements at check in, they assume bay you know. My room is an end unit with a single bed, which is good for me, the bathroom is pleasantly big, and I do enjoyed the bath. Shower is good too with good water pressure. I found a pair of slippers inside the drawer of the bedside table instead of in the closet, they are comfortable. The whole 3 nights I stayed without Wi-Fi, they couldn’t fix it! The electric outlet has three holes so you need to bring the specific adapter as there no usb port to charge gadgets. I changed mine in the bathroom as my two pint adapters worked there. No kettle in the room but they kindly delivered some hot water to my room when I requested. The second night they told me to go downstairs to get it. TV has international news channels except CNN but that’s ok for me. Lifts are efficient.

This is a lovely, clean hotel with good facilities and location and an excellent breakfast. It has a very traditional decor, with a modern bathroom. Our room was pleasant enough but the window faced a wall and had huge shutters which we couldn't open. Hence, there was hardly any natural light in the room. I also found the staff a bit unfriendly, especially at the reception desk. There was no greeting if you walked past, and they did seem slightly condescending - not the usual friendliness you would expect on a reception desk. The staff at breakfast were much nicer. I liked this hotel, but a little friendliness and a smile go a long way and would have enhanced our stay.

I think that based on the variability of the posted reviews, the experience is likely highly dependent on which room the visitor receives. I was in the attic loft, room 111, and could not have been happier. A spacious, modern room, the air conditioning was excellent (which was very important given this year's heat waves). Very quiet. No fridge, but that wasn't a big deal. Checking in was a bit goofy. I arrived at noon and the front door was locked and no one was at the front desk. I managed to get in and was confronted by a cleaning lady who chastised me for coming before check-in time. I indicated that I did not care to check in and was happy to dump my bags and head out to Florence. All good. But someone with different expectations would be miffed. Breakfast is modest but perfectly adequate...much better than what one gets at a budget motel in the States. Again, expectations. If you expect a large, hot breakfast buffet, you need to check into a much more expensive property.

We stayed at the hotel for the first 4 nights of our 12 day trip. This was meant to be a makeup for our honeymoon, that we weren’t able to take due to covid and it did not disappoint. It is about a 3/4 mile walk to main attractions, but to get a private room, bathroom, and terrace for the price it was well worth it. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful with any questions we had, and made great recommendations for nearby cafes. The room was very clean and the view was incredible.

Stayed here for two nights to check out the city. Location and accommodations were great. • Very walkable to all the nearby tourist attractions in Piazza del Duomo. • Little to no outside noise despite being tucked away off the main road. • The exterior of the building was much older than expected but the room was very accurate to the photos. • Andrea from reception was friendly and helpful from our check-in to check-out. He helped lug up our way-too-heavy bags and scheduled a taxi ride ride for us. • We didn't take advantage of the breakfast service, but the designated dining area was spacious. • The room itself was large and perfect for a quick stay. Thanks for a great stay! _____ La posizione e le sistemazioni erano fantastiche. • Molto raggiungibile a piedi tutte le vicine attrazioni turistiche in Piazza del Duomo. • Poco o nessun rumore esterno nonostante sia nascosto fuori dalla strada principale. • L'esterno dell'edificio era molto più vecchio del previsto, ma la camera era molto fedele alle foto. • Andrea dalla reception è stato cordiale e disponibile dal nostro check-in al check-out. Prenotiamo un appartamento per un weekend. Arriviamo verso le 18, c'è un signore che ci da le indicazioni per il parcheggio interno, le chiavi dell'appartamento (senza farcelo vedere), ci dice che non ci sono bici disponibili per il noleggio (non ci saranno mai). Paghiamo la stanza in anticipo (errore che non faremo mai più). Parcheggiamo e saliamo (da soli) in appartamento al 4° (e ultimo) piano. L'appartamento è luminoso, su due livelli. Le camere da letto sono al secondo livello, nel sottotetto, che può essere fastidioso per le persone mediamente alte. In generale l'appartamento è abbastanza pulito e nuovo. Usciamo per cena e torniamo per le 23. Per il centro ci vogliono tra i 20 e i 25 minuti a piedi, per noi fattibile. Saliti in appartamento ci accorgiamo di un rumore continuo veramente forte, come di un condotto di aspirazione. I rumori della strada non vengono assolutamente filtrati, le voci e gli schiamazzi degli avventori di un locale ubicato nello stesso palazzo della struttura, arrivano chiari e distinti, in più c'è la caserma dei pompieri di fronte (a cui purtroppo arrivano due chiamate durante la notte). A tutto ciò si aggiunge che il locale ascensore è esattamente sopra la camera da letto, per cui agli altri rumori si aggiungono anche quelli dell'ascensore. Chiamiamo la reception con poche speranze dato che sappiamo che il servizio c'è fino alle 19 e sono già le 23.30. Di conseguenza, chiamiamo due numeri di cellulare che sono riportati sulla porta della reception e nell'ascensore: sono numeri da chiamare in caso di emergenza. Non riceviamo nessuna risposta. Intorno all'1 di notte smette il rumore forte e consistente e smettono anche gli schiamazzi del locale in strada. Riusciamo finalmente a dormire. L'indomani mattina attendiamo fino alle 10.30 che qualcuno sia presente in reception, ma non arriva nessuno. Chiamiamo di nuovo i due numeri cellulari di emergenza e ad uno dei due risponde una ragazza. Le condividiamo la problematica dovuta ai rumori e dice che aggiornerà il collega dato che lei non è in turno. Nel frattempo dalla strada, arriva il collega (è la stessa persona che ci ha consegnato l'appartamento il giorno prima). Dice che farà subito le verifiche nel vano ascensore, quando specifichiamo che il problema non ci sembra legato all'utilizzo dell'ascensore piuttosto ad un altro tipo di impianto, come di aspirazione. Stiamo in giro per Firenze l'intera giornata e torniamo verso le 23.30. La situazione è esattamente come il giorno prima. Rumore forte e consistente nelle camere da letto, schiamazzi in strada. Lo comunichiamo di nuovo al numero di emergenza a cui risponde la ragazza (all'altro non ha mai risposto nessuno) che ci chiede anche dei video via whatsapp dei rumori. Si dice mortificata per il ”mistero” ma che non può fare nulla. Il rumore forte e consistente cessa intorno all'1 di notte, quando anche il locale sottostante chiude. La mattina dopo facciamo il checkout. Non ci viene riferita una parola sull'accaduto

The hotel is clean , but tired. I did not appreciate being told to sit a specific table for breakfast even when there were clearly several empty, was totally snubbed when asking for hot water for tea. Male concierge added 30% onto the price of bus tickets , next days' tickets were as priced on the actual ticket. Makes them untrustworthy. Poor breakfasts . And service is bad. Itallians get treated well and english are NOT . They don't know how to treat paying guests with equal respect . Its obvious they are blatantly discriminate.

We arrived at the hotel pretty late as we were travelling from Rome. Gabriele was pretty prompt and sent us all the necessary information ahead of our arrival as the reception service was until 3pm on Sunday. The room was surprisingly nice and clean, and indeed exceeded our expectation. Even though for just a night I thought this was a pretty good one. Nearby hotel has a nice pasta restaurant Al Peposo, just need to walk about 10 mins. Day time you can just walk towards town areas, you won’t get bored with the surroundings.
