Hotel Perniagaan Terbaik di Hakone

I read great reviews about Hakone Pax Yoshino. It's an older hotel in a tourist town and appears quite nice. My room was OK, large and could use some updating. My traditional dinner and service was spectacular, hence my 3-star rating. What tainted a one-night stay is I was traveling with a vegetarian friend and not only was she shut out of a dinner she paid for, but the front desk agent said they couldn't accommodate her, there would be no refund or substitutions, because we were traveling as solos we couldn't sit together - so many ”couldn'ts” that were simply not true. This tainted my stay and I went alone to dinner - plenty of room for another person - which was great. I was embarrassed that I had picked this hotel for friends to stay separately and upon arrival was told that our plan didn't include meals, which they sure did. So, at the front desk for about $300 per night, everything is ”couldn't”. Breakfast was just OK compared to dinner. I loved wearing the yakata and having hot spring water in the room's tub (which could use updating) was nice. In the morning, I was told to reserve a spot on a shuttle to the train station for what reason, I'm not sure. When no shuttle showed up for me, my friend and others waiting - and waiting - and waiting - we were then told that the shuttle doesn't always show up. Why the reservation for something that doesn't happen? The front desk could not request a cab, another ”couldn't”. Since most of us leaving had trains to catch and tours scheduled, we walked the 15 minutes or so to the station in the rain. I saw other guests I met while waiting also drenched at the station. In short, I'm not impressed though so much of Japan has impressive accommodations and kindness. Hakone Pax Yoshino falls short. For that reason, I wouldn't stay again and don't recommend it. Too bad, because the traditional dinner and restaurant serving staff are top notch. I'm sure the chef - and a dinner this good has to have a chef - would have said to serve a vegetarian rice, vegetables, desserts of which there were several as well as a large drink menu and other dishes - and the experience would have been better. Unfortunate that the front desk person we had could only say no, you don't have, we can't. Well, I think they could have. Very sad.

This is a relatively average resort hotel. It is set in the beautiful Hakone region, but has limited vantage points to see the views. The rooms are quite average with odd steps down to the room and bathroom. Also the food at the hotel is not particularly good, we had breakfast and a dinner, which I would not recommend. The service was helpful, but I would not specifically recommend this hotel.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay in Hakone. =] The hotel has a nice atmosphere and is quiet, with comfortable rooms, good food, lovely staff and wifi with a nice surrounding area and bus stops nearby including right in front of the hotel itself that go to and from Odawara/near Tokyo (just be careful if travelling with large luggage like me, the buses to and from Odawara/Tokyo were packed! So be prepared to catch one early/later, wait for a more open bus to stop by or organize a taxi/other method of transport. The staff can assist you with this though!) I travelled alone and was quite nervous, but the staff and location helped me feel comfortable and at ease during my stay (there are of course staff that speak English, though I wanted to do my best and practice my Japanese and they were all very patient with me haha). If you're LGBT, have tattoos or are just anxious to use a public bath and are worried about going to a hot spring, you can enjoy the hot springs here as the room entrances are locked with a key given to you. (There is a fee for using these private onsens, however I found their pricing to be quite reasonable, especially if it meant I could finally feel comfortable and enjoy an onsen without any worries!) The baths do face a lovely private fenced bamboo garden area, that's view is shared between the other private onsens (you cannot see each other though due to the walls of the onsens itself). As someone who was utterly terrified of using a public onsen and tried once before elsewhere without any luck, this was a massive relief and allowed me to fully enjoy a hot spring (including in the rain! It was so lovely to sit in the warm onsen at night with rain pattering on the roof and viewing the bamboo). If you are at all still anxious about using the baths however, you can always ask the staff for any timeslots that are quieter (to make a booking, you see the front desk and write your name in a time-sheet anyway so you can see what the currently booked times are for yourself.) I was lucky enough to try 2/3 of the hot springs and can pretty safely recommend all of them! If you have any mobility concerns about entering/exiting the baths, I would recommend the Kaguya 'flat' onsen as it is similar to a small pool with steps, though the Kin-gyo onsen also has a wooden bar set up next to the bathtub onsens that can assist you. Aside from the onsens, the room itself was also lovely! Because I was travelling alone, I booked a single room with a regular bed (i.e not a futon). The room itself despite being one of the smallest had a decent size to it for me to spread out my luggage etc and was quite comfortable. The room did not include a bath which was perfectly ok with me as I was using the private onsens the entire time anyway which of course include a small shower area to properly clean yourself including soap and shampoo/conditioner. Wonderful onsen hotel, quite a walk from hakone yumoto station but it’s worth it. Got a room by the river, onsen was amazing with men’s onsen in 7th floor and outdoors, buffet spread was delicious especially dinner. Would love to return!

The Japanese rooms are almost to small to house two people with luggage, mattresses very thin, no Aircon available (only air clean). Room was run-down, the entire hotel is in dire need for make-over. It surely has seen better days. Therefore, it is overpriced. On the plus side: Food was good and so was the Onsen. But one would find similar Onsen standards nearby, in fact, next door. The nicely sized swimming pool closes at 5pm, can’t tell it’s quality. Massage service available, good service.

This hotel is a bit hard to reach by public transport. There is a bus that stops closeby, but there is also a train, however, after that you have to walk for 20 minutes and the road can be quite steep in some parts. In the vicinity, there are some convenience stores and restaurants. The town of Hakone is beautiful and located close to mount Fuji. We had a lovely ryokan-style suite with twin beds. Everything was very clean and comfortable, including the pillows. Breakfast is buffet-style and offers both European and Asian food. There are both a public onsen and a private one. Staff is very friendly and speaks English very well.

The ryokan is set high above the town but unfortunately the area around the hotel smelled awful. I appreciate this is not the fault of the ryokan but gives a very bad first impression. The smell is not just of sulphur but of sewage. The room was Western/Japanese with Tatami flooring and a seating area. Unfortunately we didn’t have a private onsen and we were given very little information about the public one other than the location and that you needed to take your towel from the room. These towels were of very poor quality and there was only one per person. There was nowhere to dry them after use. The private bathroom was very outdated. There was a kettle and tea and coffee but the water tasted disgusting even when boiled to make tea so we didn’t trust drinking it. Dinner was a Japanese multi course meal with a variety of dishes although three of these were miso soup based which was problem if you are not a fan. The drinks were more expensive than anywhere else we had visited. For breakfast we specifically told staff the night before we didn’t want another multi course fish based meal and just wanted coffee, juice and if possible bread. This turned out to be impossible. No coffee, a huge Japanese meal already set out on our table, no juice unless we paid for it. In the end we just checked out and left - thirsty and regretting making the trip at all. We have stayed in other ryokan where the service has been exemplary and our experiences in Japan have been overwhelmingly positive. I would really advise missing this ryokan off your schedule though. It wasn’t a good experience and I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

　久しぶりの紗らでの宿泊。ここは箱根湯本駅から歩いておみやげ物屋の通りを抜けて、酒屋、コンビニの前を通り歩いて行ける適度な距離にあり、坂もほとんどなく手軽に行きやすい宿です。好みのおつまみや飲み物を買って向えます。もちろん、宿にもアルコール飲み放題等あります。ロビーには箱根駅伝の参加校のタオルが展示してあり、正月の余韻が残っていました。大浴場も床の一部が畳敷きです。露天風呂は小さく、景観は斜面の緑で森の中や山間の宿、古都などを連想させます。露天、２か所の貸切風呂は、浴槽に入り、出て、湯が減るとかけ流し口から湯が出てくるみたいです。または、湯温が下がった時も出るみたいです。最初に訪れた時から大分立ちますが、一部施設が老朽化しているみたいです。女性用の浴室では、シャワーホルダーが取れてるところもあったと妻が言っていました。しかし、全体的には古さは感じず清潔な宿だと感じました。スタッフのサービスも問題ないのですが、系列の翠雲に比べると少し元気がない(静か?)ように感じました。正月勤務で疲れているのかもしれません。部屋付き露天風呂は、春から秋には気が付かなかったのですが、陶器製と思われる浴槽が冷えていて、お湯を入れても少しぬるかったです。沸かし湯なので冬季はもっと湯温を上げたら良いと思いました。食事処は一部横並び席で、感染予防には良いのですが、左利き、右利きとうまく並ばないとすき焼きがやりずらいです。ほとんど飲みませんでしたが、予約時に申し込んだ記憶はないのですが、正月のサービスなのか飲み放題が付いていました。例えば、１万円ちょいの食事を地元の店でとるのなら、平日、ここまで来て、予約さえ取れればここで宿泊して、夕食食べた方が良いと思うので、積極的に行きたい宿です。

The location of this hotel is fantastic. It is just a few minutes walk to the Hakone shrine and tori gate on the water and about 15 minutes walk to the town by the water. From the town you can catch the pirate ship or ferry to the base of the cable car and head up the mountain to other attractions. The hotel grounds are lovely and full of pathways lined with Rhododendrum. The rooms are a great size and all have a view of the lake. I stayed on the third floor and in my opinion rooms on the third and fourth floors have a better view but the second floor rooms have a balcony and the first floor rooms have patios. The hotel provides yukatas and all toiletries you might need. The hotel onsen is small but nice and also has an outdoor bath. The hotel spa is very relaxing with a variety of services. I did not have dinner at the property but breakfast was very good. Every staff member I encountered was extremely professional, courteous and friendly. My only complaint is the mattress was very firm and I prefer some thing softer but that is a personal preference.

The staff was kind and responsible. I had a reservation problem due to wrong room information on the booking site, but the staff was kindly replaced my room with better grade. The food was great. Japanese food option provides Sashimi. Tonosawa station is nearby, so you could arrive the hotel by foot, but there was a lot of steps so it is not suitable for baby strollers.
