"Was pleasantly surprised about their large rooms (by Japanese standards) and overall stay has been very good. Will mark it for next visit to Fuji area. They do provide parking (unlimited access) at 1000Yen a day which is very good for us. Next to the hotel is the town's convention centre. The walking street is 700m away at the other end of the train station next block that offers a nice shopping and dining experience. Great sleepy town if you have planned to chill. The price they offers just tops it. Great stay."

"The five-star hotel's facilities are subpar, and the service is even more annoying. I booked a room with breakfast and dinner included, but the meals were terrible on the first day and I basically skipped them on the second. The hot spring bath in the room made me itch after soaking. When I checked out, I asked the waiter to help with my luggage, but no one was there. I struggled to get my suitcase out myself. When I checked out, I told the waiter I had forgotten my room card in the room and had to go back to get it. It was a terrible stay."

"Meals were entirely reliant on the discount village downstairs. In the evening, we ventured out to eat near the train station. The women's hot spring was strictly cleared out at 11 PM. The discount village is convenient. It's a car-friendly location, but public transport might be a bit inconvenient – there's absolutely nothing happening after 9 PM."

"This hotel was so bad it compelled me to write my very first review. I arrived at night with heavy luggage, only to find there was no elevator. The moment I stepped into the room, I was hit with a damp, moldy smell – I felt like I was going to grow spores in my nose if I took another breath. The entire hotel's facilities were old and run-down, and there were even cockroaches in the bathroom! Plus, there was an unidentifiable liquid on the pillows, and the soundproofing was terrible. I only stayed one night and didn't even bother with the other two nights I'd booked; I just left. In short, it was awful. Don't come here."

"Right by the pirate ship dock, the views are great, though there are quite a few stairs to navigate. However, the hotel facilities are excellent, especially the lounge. It has plenty of seating, hot and cold drinks, board games, and nice views. The hotel lawn even has tripods set up, which is a thoughtful touch. The only downside is that there aren't any recommended restaurants in the immediate vicinity."

"My experience at the Shin Akawo Hotel was absolutely superb. The architecture is grand and elegant, and the surrounding views are breathtaking. "This hotel is so bad that it made even a lazy person like me write a lengthy review. It completely shattered my perception that Japanese hotels, no matter how old, are always clean. First, when we dropped off our luggage at 10 AM, we specifically requested a high-floor room. However, when we returned to the hotel at 6 PM, we were still given a room on the lowest floor, the third, and it was at the very end of the corridor (in the area where you have to carry your luggage up steps). Then, the hotel's cleanliness was the worst I've ever experienced in a Japanese hotel. The hallways were crawling with various unidentified flying insects, and there were dead insects on the floor. There were even buzzing, large flying insects lurking in the corridors, making every trip back to the room feel like an escape. There were mosquitoes in the room, and small flying insects on the tatami floor, which meant our whole family couldn't get a peaceful night's sleep. Finally, the onsen public bath was just a simple bathhouse. There were only two rudimentary pools, both inside and out, and the overall environment was dirty, messy, and poor. It felt nothing like a hot spring hotel. And last but not least, the so-called buffet dinner was like a factory canteen, with seats so close together you could reach over and grab food from your neighbor's plate, which completely killed our appetite. You truly don't deserve a price tag of over 2800 per night!!!"
