The Wilson Arms

This is a little gem. We stayed here for 3 nights while our family were camping on the campsite at the back. The room was clean and decorated in a country modern style. There was not too much noise from other guests and as the pub closes early it was quiet at night. We found the room a little hot and a fan would have been appreciated. The usual tea and coffee facilities were fine. Shampoo in the shower room was lovely. The breakfast was very nice, there was a limited cold option, only cereal but the cooked breakfast was very good quality and there was lots of tea/coffee. Staff were very helpful and the meals in the evening were the best we have had in a very long time, although it is a limited menu.

Me and my family where staying in a holiday cottage close to the Wilson so decided to try their food, which I would highly recommend. The fish was fantastic lovely crispy batter and proper home cut chunky chips. Even though they where extremely busy. Service was prompt and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend it.

Stayed here on a Saturday night for a short visit to Whitby. Really nice inside, bright airy and modern pub, fabulous refurbishment with really nice accommodation. We stayed in Room 4 with our dog, very comfortable and with a great en suite shower room. The only slight criticism is that the only mirror is in the en-suite so you can’t do your hair with a hairdryer or straighteners etc in front of a mirror. We booked a table for dinner and really enjoyed our food. Breakfast was also great, there’s no menu, you just say what you want and they prepare it for you. My husband went for a full English and I opted for scrambled eggs on toast. Staff are lovely, real family run atmosphere and highly recommend this place for anyone with a dog - super dog friendly, nearly every table at dinner had a dog laid at the side.

Spacious, spotless well appointed new rooms. Kind staff. The owner cheerfully created a custom hot toddy to my specifications. Family owned and operated. A great stay! Close to town yet so quiet, we walked a mile through country roads, never seeing a single car.

Read the great reviews for Sunday lunch,we live locally, so thought we'd give it a try. Strong off-putting smell in the entrance waiting area, wasn't a good start, but the main bar where we ate was clean, young staff were efficient and polite. Our 4 plates arrived, a reasonable portion of meat,.. a very small spoon of mashed potato which hadn't seen a knob of butter or seasoning, 2 very small roast potatoes and only enough vegetables for 2 people,...we politely pointed this out and asked for more veg..which (didn't realise til later) we were charged for !!! ...it wasn't that good either..we never did find out what the strange,pale, half raw, yellow beans that nobody could eat were !! ...the gravy was watery and tasteless., the beef had a good flavour plus the York's puds were ok. We laughed upon seeing the strange pale yellow beans for sale in bags on the bar..maybe a Sneaton delicacy, who knows 🤣 Desserts were fine luckily. We won't be going back except for a drink and wouldn't recommend the Sunday lunch.

We visited last Sunday never been to the pub before a very good find. The Sunday lunches looked superb they seem to be doing an excellent takeaway trade. We interacted with people who had picked up their meals and they said they were excellent. The prices they were charging looks very fair. The decor was modern contemporary which I really like. When the extension is completed and the same theme is carried through ?the pub will be excellent.

This is a beautiful quiet bed and breakfast pub, the rooms are uncluttered spacious and clean tastefully decorated throughout Views from the back bedrooms are amazing you can see the sea 😂 We tad evening meals on Sunday night, the food was delicious, I was abit disappointed that the Sunday lunch wasn't on the menu but there was enough choice and I would like to say the fish was a whale in size🐋 I had the hunters chicken, mum had the scampi and hubby had a steak all cooked wonderfull y, nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was just as enjoyable. If you ever need a place to stay near whitby I highly recommend this pub.

Popped in a few times for food and drinks. Good selection of beer and cider on tap, wide array of gins, amazing food. All of the dishes that we tried were nicely presented, good portions and delicious. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Decor was very light, bright and homely. Stylishly country. Save room for puddings because they are amazing. Homemade and heavenly.

A lovely hotel out of the way with easy parking.And a lovely restaurant downstairs to have dinner and breakfast Our bathroom was brand new .But minuses we’re no hairdryer,shower water pressure minimal and purely free to air on the TV.Was very enjoyable but could be that bit better
