Thornhill Safari Lodge

Thornhill Safari Lodge is beautiful situated in the Gurnsey Private Nature Reserve. You find here a warm welcome wtih nice cottages. If you look for a quit and peaceful place, this is the place to be.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Thornhill Safari Lodge. Very friendly and knowledgeable personnel, really nice lodges, nyala's and and ostrich visiting the lodge property and one night 2 giraffes payed us a visit at our lodge. The setup of the dinners is magical, the quality of the food really good.

BAD: We had to leave (LITERALLY THAT IS IT!!) GOOD: Jamie, The Africa Travel Specialist was VERY helpful in planning for a family of six. The Lodge hospitality was BEYOND excellent. The resort manager was there to greet us for a late arrival with a cold refreshment. Nicole, The Thornhill Lodge attendant was eager to answer ALL of our questions and made us feel like FAMILY. The bus tour driver educated us with local culture & history as we traveled around. The grounds/housekeepers made the entire resort beautiful with their impeccable work and dedication to cleanliness. As we were getting ready to depart; I lost my grandmother's ring. One of the housekeepers found it & promptly returned it, that kind of employee is hard to come by in today's world. My family & I look forward to returning to Thornhill Safari Lodge again!

Our stay at Thornhill Safari Lodge was really great! The People, the surrounding, the rooms, the food, the animals. Everything! The owners are really involded/interested in/with their guest. Rooms are nice and clean. It was a special and very pleasent stay. At night we heared the hyena's yelling.

We loved, loved, loved our stay at Thornhill. It was an amazing experience, the staff felt like family and the food was amazing. The location of the resort is great and the safari's we booked were amazing! The room was spacious and had everthing we needed.

Wonderful location managed by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The Boma dinner was awesome, service was beyond our expectations.

Amazing stay at Thornhill Safari Lodge. We could not have been happier with our stay. As first timers on safari with a limited budget and time this was perfect. You go on Safari for the wildlife so I'll start with that. The full day Kruger safari did not disappoint and the guide, Dyson, was highly experienced and knowledgeable. For the shorter 1/2 days, the local reserves were easily accessible and the animal encounters were frequent and magical. Overall, the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The accommodation was very clean, with some really nice touches like turning on heating so we were toasty warm when we came back from night safari. food was also excellent. In terms of value for money, I thought it was excellent.

What can I say ... I was the nervous one in our family of 3! I needn't have been. We had the most amazing experiences at Thornhill and will never forget it. The staff were wonderful and seemed to have a good relationship with each other which I feel is important. Renee, Nicole (who went the extra mile literally) taking us on a trip to God's Window and Roundawels, Sam on our safari to Kruger, all the catering staff, excellent food and cleaning staff. The staff made us feel comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. Our best safari by far was with Jonno in Greater Kruger. His knowledge was amazing and fascinating. We saw so much wildlife, all a dream come true. Wonderful wildlife in the immediate area around our lodge too. Great atmosphere at the outdoor meals in the evening, hearing lions roaring in the distance. The monkeys were very naughty but looked cute! Beware though!! We had a few other safaris on the Garden Route, don't waste your money on these, Thornhill and Kruger were by far the best. My only disappointment was our dark room, bathroom rather tired and dated. We didn't spend much time at all in our room. Thank you so much to all at Thornhill, so much knowledge from all the staff. We missed you all after we left.

In april we spend 2 night at the Thornhill lodge. We really can recommend this place! Very friendly en helpful staff. Really nice breakfast, lunch and diner. Please book your safaris at this place, in particular the game drive in Greater Kruger. It's the best!
