Millstone Country Inn

We stayed in Millstone Country Inn during December. The food and service was excellent, a home from home. Although the rooms could do with a lick of paint, I've rated as 5/5 as the stay was fantastic value for money. Thank you, we will be sure to return.

We had a fantastic first visit here for Sunday lunch. The food was fresh and home-cooked, with a delicious starter—brie wedges served with salad and red onion. The soup was also amazing! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were outstanding—so friendly and welcoming. We loved that they allow dogs, though we didn’t bring ours this time. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try .

We arrived late at night called in for a drink and was told we could stay in the car park in our Campervan ! James was a life saver ! This was perfect , views to die for hospitality second to none and the pub is so quirky and modern ! We missed brekkie in the morning but James arranged for us to have bacon butties and a brew served by a lovely little legend ALAN x this guy had our hearts from the start ~ so kind , chatty and welcoming xx Thank you James and Alan we will be back and we will tell everyone all about the gorgeous pub ! We went to take advantage of the Christmas offer. Two mains and a bottle of wine for £25. As a Hathersage Resident of over 50 years I have been to the Millstone countless times and in fairness whoever has been in charge has always made us welcome. Most times the food was pretty good without being outstanding but occasionally we have been disappointed. So we weren't expecting much to have changed as we went in through the front entrance. Wow were we wrong. The décor was the best it has ever been. Obviously a great deal of money has been spent on refurbishment. The interior now has been completely redesigned and is warm spacious and very welcoming. A lady who I assumed to be the owner went out of her way to make sure we had the best possible experience. The staff could not have been more helpful. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed how much has been changed for the better. And I haven't even mentioned the food yet. I had the Sunday Roast Pork which was superb. Much care had been taken to produce everything on the plate to a really high standard. The veg was amazing and the roasties delicious. There were 7 of us altogether and everybody agreed the quality and value for money gave us the best possible start to the Christmas season. Wiil we be going back? You bet we will and it was so good I hope as many as possible who read this review are tempted to pay a visit themselves. You wont be disappointed.

Fantastic country pub, cosy fire for a cold December day. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious, and a huge portion. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. I can imagine its really beautiful in the summertime. Wish I lived closer, it would be my go to pub for a roast .

Great place to stay whilst in lovely Hathersage in the glorious Peak District. Really friendly and caring staff, good room and tasty breakfast and beer! Either walk in and out of town with no problem or there’s a bus/taxi. Beautiful at any time of year and super easy to get to by train.
