Arrived at the hotel and greeted by friendly staffs. The room is big and comfortable. Staff readily offered to help me with transport to Yungang grottos. And thanks to them, I also managed to get transport and ticket to the Hanging Temple. Breakfast is fantastic too (although it was the same noodle for 2 days 😄). The hotel is also conveniently located at the foot of the ancient wall north gate, and I can enjoy myself quite late into the night without worry for safety.
After 3 nights stay, the staff sent me off with a big smile. Overall, my stay in Datong is fantastic. Thank you ☺️

Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were more than adequate with a choice of varieties.
Hotel location was ok just outside the wall though neighbouring shops were all shuttered. Taxis plentiful and inexpensive.
Nightly dinner was at the hotel restaurant - good food, surprisingly very affordable prices and extremely good services from the staff.
What stood out most were the very helpful, cheerful staff, at the front desk, restaurants, and cleaners!

Wenda and all of her colleagues were wonderful! English is spoken here. Fantastic service, friendly, helpful, very clean and spacious rooms, really nice view over the river and at night with all of the lights. Breakfast is good, the facilities are clean and presentable. The room was quiet and the window can be opened if you want fresh air or to cool down the room a bit, the ac works too to cool it down in winter but that’s recirculated air with some people smoking in non-smoking rooms (typical). Our room did not smell which was great and although we had neighbours we could not hear them, so good for light sleepers. Only downside is the bed is firm. Quick 10 minute didi to the ancient city, malls, delicious lunch and food places. The hotel organised a driver to take us to the hanging temple, yungang grottoes and then to a delicious local restaurant very affordable, helpful, reliable and kind driver (WeChat: 永恒). Also recommend going to the art gallery and museum only 10 mins away. It’s a good location.

Excellent. Done in the traditional hotel style but with very modern in-room amenities. Bathroom is clean and private, with nice shower including good quality—free flow—shampoo and bodywash, clean toilet and a proper door (no glass bathrooms here!). It’s so hard to find a hotel room like this these days. Most importantly, all the staff were totally amazing, and the manager is so friendly and keen to help and can speak some English which makes things all the easier. There are quite a few shaokao and noodle places around the hotel, and importantly, the snowman drink place (蜜雪冰城) is not too far away! The hotel is just a couple of Ks south of the most popular entrance to the amazing ancient wall (大同古城), and in the other direction, about five hundred metres to another nice park called Mingtan Park where I flew my new drone for the first time ever while a local man practiced perfectly his Taoist meditation completely undeterred by the annoying whirring sound of the drone! My only regret is not planning more than a single night here. There’s so much more to Datong than just the Yungang Grottoes and the Hengshan Hanging Temple (though they are both totally spectacular!), so stay a couple of nights at least if you can.

It is right next to Fantawild amusement park, so is a good choice for families (Most of the guests were families with young kids). Everything inside the hotel is brand new. One of the hosts at reception was exceptional, and she not only offered wonderful device and care to me but also to every guest I saw her interacting with (I didn't learn her name, alas).
One interesting note: I stayed there on a Friday and Saturday night, and there was a firework show on both evenings in Fanatwild next door. The booming sound startled me at first, but I quickly realized what it was.

I stayed one night at the hotel. I was visiting Datong. I arrived early and asked front desk if I could leave my suitcase whilst I did some sightseeing. The front desk staff told me I could check into my room. The young lady who assisted me spoke some English. She also helped me with booking tickets to visit the Yungang Grottes.
My room rate included breakfast which had a wide choice of items.
The room I had (1212) was spotlessly clean and had a view towards the old walls.
I would highly recommend this hotel for a tourist visit.

這個雲酒店超級好，服務很周到，房型很舒服。第二天走的時候還是延遲退房，我們到3：00的時候才退房，服務態度也一直非常的好，走的時候還給我們分享了伴手禮。大同最有名的杏脯，我們是開車過來的，然後停車場可以登記好車牌之後能無限次出入，周邊還有小吃店，早上可以來碗熱氣騰騰的東方削麪，賀長者羊雜也挺出名，中午可以去吃燒賣，或者當地特色，距離也不遠，下次還住這裏

PPSOCWe were warmly greeted by friendly staff upon arrival, making us feel welcome right away. The check-in process was quick and smooth, and the team went the extra mile to help us register on their app as we are foreigners, ensuring we could easily access Wi-Fi and contact them if needed.
We had called ahead to request a humidifier and air purifier, and were pleased to find them already prepared in our room when we checked in. The room itself was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure, and the inclusion of an electric toilet with a heated seat was a thoughtful touch, especially during the winter season.
Throughout our stay, every staff member we encountered was genuinely helpful and sincere in their service, always making sure we were well taken care of. We initially planned to stay from 6/12/24 to 8/12/24 but felt so at home that we decided to extend our stay for an additional two days.
A big thank you to the team at Mecure Hotel for their exceptional service and attention to detail. Me and my Husband had agreed this is best hotel in our 17 days China trip. We had a fantastic stay and look forward to returning in the future. Great job!

PPengguna TetamuI cannot rate Tangfang Courtyard more highly. I almost don't want to write a review and reveal it to more travellers! The photos are accurate of the elegant, beauty of this courtyard based hotel. The room was high ceilinged with wooden rafters, smart, elegant shower, bowls of fruit, spoiling bedding. It was bang in the centre of the old city, yet completely tranquil in a gorgeously authentic, but quiet street. We were greeted warmly and cosily by Yezi, who welcomed us with drinks and fruit, and really couldn't do enough for us. My son is fluent in Mandarin but I don't speak a word yet still, she was eager to help me make my dairy free coffee in the morning, quickly sorted us a great, appropriately priced driver and comfortable car to go to the hanging monastery and grottoes the next day. This is unique in that is in an authentic building, elegant, yet cosy family atmosphere with a kitchen/dining room where all guests eat round the same table. The last effort Yezi and her colleagues made was to source me some of the very striking vinegar jars unique to Datong at a moment's notice, the morning we were leaving. Bearing in the mind, this was done via Google Translate, I cannot thank you them all enough. They made our stay in Datong memorable, beyond the obvious wonders of the UNESCO sites. Thank you again to all at Tangfang Courtyard.

The area is quiet but close to attractions and shopping streets 大同不夜城. It is located next to the datong ancient city walls north gate, within walking distance to nine dragons wall, huayan temple, shanhua temple and the Southeast Yi Historical and Cultural Block. There is also a bus stop outside that goes round the area.Cab fare is less than 30 rmb to Yungang Grottoes and Datong south highspeed train station.
Friendly and attentive staff checking for allergy if any. The owner was kind enough to meet me at the train station. Breakfast is simple fare consists of millet congee with side dishes, tasty noodles in warm broth, toasts and local pastries etc. Freshly made coffee from a semi auto coffee maker. Hotel serves light sweet soup to guests before dinner. Free fruits and cookies in the lobby. Washing machine and dryer are avail for use. My room has an overhead projector with wide selection of movies. Clean and comfortable. Room has many wall sockets for charging. Bathroom is huge. Deposit 200 rmb as all the facilities are brand new. Enjoyable stay. Datong is delightful a comination of the old and new.

BBeeksMy family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed at 陆合景客栈 for 2 nights when we visited Datong.
The hotel was very beautiful, and the family room was excellent. The beds we comfortable, and the room was very well equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The hotel was very nicely decorated to match the atmosphere of the ancient city.
I would like to especially give commendations to Ms 任红霞 and Mr 付强. Both of them provided exceptionally good service during our stay and made sure that all our questions and needs were fulfilled. They are exceptional staff of the hotel and I hope the hotel management rewards them for their hard work.
Highly recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for accommodation in Datong ancient city.

The breakfast was enjoyable, although the international options were somewhat limited. Given that most guests were Chinese, this was understandable. The coffee was excellent, which was definitely a highlight.
The hotel’s location just outside the city was convenient, especially since many attractions are located nearby. However, the only downside was that the hotel felt a bit too warm, maintaining a temperature around 25°C. This seemed to be a common concern among other guests as well. Overall, it was a pleasant stay in a comfortable setting.

First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元.
When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong).
We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong!
We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading !
Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.

PPengguna Tanpa NamaThe hotel is from the era where they used marble tiles in the bathrooms and heavy quality wood furniture which is pretty charming. Bed was very comfortable and staff were generally helpful altho a couple of the reception staff were quite brusque, also they spoke really fast in an accent I couldn't always understand. I think they should be more mindful of visitors from abroad. The most helpful and courteous member of staff was the bellhop.
The hotel claims to be non-smoking which is a joke cuz my room reeked of cigarette smoke and I told the staff so when she brought me there but she just said oh they've already turned down the room. Since I stayed for only 1 night, I didn't make a fuss. But non-smoking rooms are generally a joke in China, there is no enforcement and smokers have no consideration for others. Non-smokers in this country have no rights.

GGeorgeI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

The rooms are large and comfortable with good work desk and wifi. Comfortable bed gives good rest. The fridge had been removed but there is kettle and plenty of water, every day some fruit was delivered to the room which I appreciated.
Hotel has gym, swimming pool and two restaurant, given the price it was very good value for money and I would happily stay again.

SSquiggleNice hotel just outside of the old city - reachable with a 5 minute didi. The staff were very professional and helpful. The room was brand new, clean and comfortable. Stay was nearly perfect with only a few minor gripes. When we asked for extra pillows we were told there were none available, the gym was a little bit small, but the 24 hour gym opening time was excellent. The western food at the breakfast buffet seemed like it had bit sitting out for a while and wasn't super fresh.
