Recommend for families as there’s lots to do for children. Water pools with slides, infinity pool, baby friendly pools. A variety of restaurants for all meals, we had vegetarian Chinese meals. Rooms are very outdated, and too much smelly, felt really terrible. Rooms are spacious and with great balconies.

It's always lovely to be at the hotel. Recommended for families as there's lots to do for children. Water pools with slides, infinity pool, baby friendly pools. A variety of restaurants for all meals, we had Thai and Chinese meals. The rooms are spacious, with great balconies. First night the bedding felt really terrible, kind of wet, maybe humidity 😕 Service is great, special mention to Angelina. Will visit again

An incredible experience at this hotel. Its beachfront location is perfect, the rooms are comfortable, and the water park is ideal for family fun. The food is excellent and there are many activities to enjoy without leaving the hotel. We want to highlight the kind help from Joyce at the reception. We would undoubtedly return!

The traveling from airport took around 2 hours to arrive by taxi/didi (therefor score for location). The view over pools and ocean very beautiful (see pictures). Joyce (the receptionist who checked us in) added us on WeChat and every day kindly checked in and see if we are satisfied and need anything else (first time experiencing this wonderful kindness). The different swimming pools cater for adults and kids and bonus to have the ocean to utilize too. The buffet breakfast and dinner was utilized everyday of our stay and diverse western and Chinese styles on offer! The kids play room very big and many varieties to enjoy! Animal farm section very nice to feed and interact with deer and bunnies. Very satisfied and hope to return soon!

We loved the place! Got upgraded for free, staff was incredibly friendly and had the place mostly to ourselves. Typical buffet breakfast, and we had dinner at their Chinese food restaurant. Service at the Chinese restaurant was slow but the food was excellent.

We booked a king room and stayed as a family of four. The room was spacious, bright, and airy, offering a lovely sunrise view. It was well-equipped with facilities, but we found that amenities for children were missing, which could be improved.

Cons: Our room wasn't cleaned by 4:30 PM. I had to call three times to request a manager on duty, but received no follow-up. The problem was eventually solved only after we were moved to a different room. The hotel gets very busy on weekends, and housekeeping struggles to keep up. Additionally, the customer service team lacks professionalism when handling issues.

The room facilities are a bit dated, but it gets quite busy. At the buffet, you might have to find your own seat. The kids absolutely loved the bubble pool, and the floating boards in the swimming pool were a lot of fun. The indoor playground had movies or cartoons playing. It's a perfect one-stop spot for keeping kids entertained. Overall, it offers pretty good value for money. I'd definitely come back with friends next time!

The water park was good, and the kids had a blast with all the facilities. The beach is large with a long coastline, but the sand is very coarse, making it uncomfortable to walk on. The rooms are old and dated. The shower room was the dirtiest, and even the obscure corners of the washbasin were filthy. The cleanliness standards are clearly lacking. On the plus side, the balcony is long and good for drying clothes. The breakfast buffet food was placed in the corridor, which felt unhygienic. Worse yet, an old man in a bathrobe repeatedly reached into the serving dishes with bare hands to grab fruit and eat it, piece after piece. It was appalling, and no staff intervened. Furthermore, staff were serving boiled eggs onto plates with their bare hands, without gloves – truly shocking. However, the outdoor lobby bar was lovely in the evenings, with live singing performances, framed by fireworks over the sea and the water park's pool. It was quite beautiful. What they call a hotel is actually a complex of five apartment buildings, suggesting a very large number of rooms. The lobby was also dirty, understaffed, and chaotic. Upon check-in, there was no one to greet us, and we had to manage our own luggage cart. **Cleanliness:** Poor **Environment:** Good **Service:** Understaffed

A Heartfelt Thank You Letter to Howard Johnson Resort My recent stay felt like unwrapping a series of delightful surprises. What started as a routine booking turned into an unexpected room upgrade – upon entering, the more spacious room and thoughtful arrangements instantly melted away much of my travel fatigue. A big thank you to the lovely front desk lady! At breakfast each morning, the plate of fresh, plump fruit was a clear testament to the care put in; the sweet sunshine mingled with the fruit's aroma, becoming the perfect start to the day. Thank you, Gaoli from the restaurant! What surprised me most was at check-out, receiving a substantial parting gift. It felt as if the hotel's warmth was packed right into my luggage. ["During breakfast, I found something that looked like an insect in my food. To make matters worse, the ceiling was dripping water directly onto our table. It was an absolutely terrible experience.","At the Thai restaurant during dinner, there was only one server who was clearing tables and serving dishes simultaneously. They didn't seem to wash their hands, and the cutlery brought to us was wet. When I questioned if it had been properly disinfected, they blamed it on the seaside humidity. What a ridiculous excuse!"]

Overall, it was decent, though there was a slight odor. The unlimited access to the water park (with slides) was a big hit: the kids had a blast, and the adults enjoyed it just as much. The only minor drawback was that the sand was a bit coarse. The buffet breakfast offered a good variety of options. Hope to have the chance to visit again.

Our stay at the Howard Johnson Sandalwood Hotspring Resort was absolutely fantastic! We spent 2 wonderful days there, and everyone had a blast. The environment, the water, the sunshine, and the beach were all superb. The restaurant offered a rich variety of delicious food. The service was excellent, and we were thoroughly impressed. We'll definitely be staying at the Howard Johnson Sandalwood Hotspring Resort again on our next visit.

I was a bit apprehensive after seeing many negative reviews online, but my actual experience turned out to be excellent. This established hotel certainly lives up to its reputation. **Building 4, Four-Bedroom Unit:** The ocean-view balcony was fantastic! The room itself was generally fine, if a little humid, which is understandable given its beachfront setting. **Buffet Afternoon Tea:** We didn't get a chance to enjoy the afternoon tea on our arrival day, but fortunately, we could still use it on our check-out day. There was a wide selection of pastries and fresh fruits, and both the seniors and children thoroughly enjoyed it. **Water Park (Unlimited Access):** The water park was great, especially suitable for younger children. The slide pools were a lot of fun too! **Sea and Beach:** While the sand on the beach wasn't particularly soft, it was still comfortable, and the seawater was very clean. There were also motorbikes available on the beach for kids, which added a fun touch to their experience. **Chinese Restaurant:** We had two meals here. The menu offered a good variety of dishes, and the prices were reasonable. **Con:** There was a very long queue for check-in.

Overall, it was decent, although my initial impression wasn't great; it felt a bit dated and crowded, probably because we hit the peak check-in/check-out time. The room itself was okay, and I slept well at night. The butler was very attentive. The toilet room door was a bit cramped and easy to bump into, and being on a high floor meant it was particularly windy. Breakfast was quite good, and the pool was also really nice; we had a fun time there. However, one incident left a bad taste in my mouth. In the morning, we encountered some photographers on the beach. I'm not sure if they were affiliated with the hotel, but they had very poor manners and kept pestering us. We eventually decided to take some photos, thinking we wanted them anyway, but that particular photographer was incredibly intrusive. The photo selection process turned into a very unpleasant argument. A group of people surrounded me, and all I did was tell him not to casually touch my phone, after which he started verbally abusing me, claiming I wouldn't know how to use it, and went on and on. It was my first time encountering someone so rude and lacking boundaries – truly unpleasant and it significantly detracted from the experience. I can't understand why a good hotel would employ such people. Thankfully, a kind young lady later came to comfort me, and I slowly calmed down. So, this trip ended up being a mix of happy, angry, and eventually happy emotions. I don't think I'll be returning next time.
