We have just had our first visit to Hotel Ischgl, for Christmas, and it certainly is a wonderful resort to ski in… I felt I wanted to talk about the Hotel… Now It’s staff are very warm and welcoming, and all super friendly…. The breakfast in the morning, are Superb very varied, and you can have wonderful omelettes, And eggs cooked in any fashion, and great smoothies to boot… The evening menu, was superb a good choice of local meat and game & fish Dishes. 5 courses including cheese…. If you are a skier, it ticks most boxes… But as a non skier myself, I have stayed in 27 odd Austrian hotels in the last 2 Decades All four star, this hotel lacks a warm and comforting lounge to sit in during the Day with a nice log fire… It’s bar and Day facilities do not open until 4pm each Day, so unless you want a sauna You are confined to your room.. If you choose to partake of the pre Dinner post ski, cake or goulash you are charged for any coffees, or teas with it… These teas and Coffees are of course always free in other 4 star Hotels.. I also feel that after staying in so many Austrian 4 star hotels.. This has been awarded on its food merit.. But not on the hotel itself, as the rooms are Dated, as the bathrooms… And their does not seem to be reinvestment in the hotel… So a decent hotel, but in our book a good 3 star, certainly not the standard that we are used to with a good 4 star… And of course we were used to being spoilt on Xmas eve, as you usually are in the Hotels either with a glass of fizz, or a rendition of silent night.. Just an ordinary evening, I spoke to other English quests who were disappointed… Overall, a good hotel… But they make nothing memorable about the stay…
