I'd been to a couple of fabulous WelcomeHeritage properties and when I was booking it considering its reviews and price I was hoping it can't be below a certain level since it's a WelcomeHeritage property and I couldn't have been more wrong. It's not a bad property by itself. It has a decently comfortable king-size bed, clean linens, clean bathroom etc. And it's about at par as far as value of your money is concerned. We paid about 3K per room per night for it in the last week of December (had booked it in August). It's probably the amount this hotel is worth for. The overall feel of the hotel is strictly a budget hotel like. Some shortcomings: - The last few feet of distance to the hotel is very congested. A vehicle cannot reach till the property really, especially in the busy hours. The luggage will have to be dragged on the road. They will carry it though and we don't have to do it ourselves. - No restaurant at the hotel. Not a huge deal since many eateries nearby, but nevertheless. - No open space. You enter the hotel and then straight enter the room. It's like a big box, full of rooms. Good for only sleeping in the night or resting in the day. - Door insulatation is poor. Quietest footsteps outside your room are loud and clear. - Seems trivial but shocking that the window curtain is so small that it doesn't satisfactorily cover the entire window. not only the outside light creeps in but also a constant feeling that someone could peek into the room. - Customer service itself is not up to the mark. Despite so many fundamental shortcomings, they charged 500 extra for the kid per night. And then refused to give even an extra pillow citing lack of pillows. They agreed when we persisted. - No lift For younger folks who wish to explore Jaisalmer, this property may suit but for folks with family etc, it's avoidable.
