Almost everything exceeded our expectations, from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, you feel like royalty. The rooms are big and comfortable. The pillows sleep like a dream and the decor makes you feel like you're travelling back in time to when Marilyn Monroe was putting on her best show. Reception went out of their way to assist me with an extra bed for my daughter, free of charge. Breakfast was delicious. Someone is always asking if you want a coffee top up (yes please!). To the omelette chef, sir, I salute you! I LIVE for your omelettes. We even took advantage of the pool area, topped up my tan and enjoyed the clear, cool waters for a bit. If I were asked if there was anything they could do to improve our stay for next time, it would be a tiny one as this place already goes above and beyond. But, if anything, it would be to serve drinks at the pool. It would undoubtedly fulfil the dream stay. A couple of the waitresses came up to our table to tell my friend what beautiful eyes she has. If only they knew how much she needed the confidence boost, it's like God himself had sent them. Fire & Ice is simply the best! We were always greeted with the biggest smiles and best ”good mornings”, even told how radiant we look even though we'd just woken up. A lovely compliment goes a long way, so thank you! This Protea was fine with a younger more hip vibe but Marriott which is just across the road is more classy. I didn’t use the dining facilities. Solo Female Traveler 5 • a month ago Excellent Location, Very Clean, Safe and Beautiful I was a solo woman traveler to Johannesburg for the first time. I picked a perfect hotel. The location is excellent on Melrose Arch, very safe area and close by to many good restaurants. The best part is the Big Red City Bus stops right in front of the hotel. The location is an easy UBER ride to many of the tourist sites. The hotel serves an awesome breakfast with a large variety delicious of hot & cold foods. The dinner menu is also very good. The amenities are also very good. It offers excellent lounges and a beautiful court yard to relax in for drink, breakfast, coffee or to lounge by the pool. We picked Protea thinking its a basic but well managed brand so should be ok for a 4 days visit on business. However when we went to have a drink with some business people we were shocked to find the bar was lacking at least 60% of what was listed . Lack of beers , NO tonic Water , No soda water , lack of juices and the list went on . We thought the hotel must be going bankrupt . The staff said the suppliers have failed to deliver . We checked out hastily the next day and found a decent hotel with no issues on suppliers not supplying food and beverages. So in a nutshell very disappointing and annoying as we had to change hotels .

Always stay this hotel when I visit JNB from Aisa. Very convenient for business meeting and very comfortable / relaxing. Food for in room service is perfect. Nice view on Wanderers club. Also, happy to early check in service always.

Friendly staff, great location and the shuttle services was invaluable. The only let down was the noisy air condition in room 1547 which caused lots of unrest. Although a room change was done on day 4, I was disappointed that the fault was not fixed as room 1547 was let to another guest on the same day.
