For this trip, I trusted my travel agency to choose the hotel, and I’m glad I did! It’s my first time in Sri Lanka, and with so many great choices in Kandy, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to let them decide, especially since I was only staying one night. All I asked for was a clean, safe place with working wifi, AC, and a hot shower—and this hotel delivered! Pros: - The location is unbeatable. The hotel is right behind the famous Queen's Hotel, in the city center. It’s walking distance from the Tooth Relic Temple and the lakeside, with a supermarket, currency exchange, shops, and even a KFC nearby. Super convenient! - The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. Huge thanks to Upul at the restaurant—such a nice guy. Also, shoutout to the concierge who helped me (sorry, I forgot his name, but he worked in Saudi and spoke to me in Arabic). - I got an upgrade again! I booked through a local tour agency, so maybe that helped, but Sri Lanka just keeps surprising me! I was given a room on a higher floor with a great view of the street and town, but it was high enough that the noise didn’t bother me. - The room was spacious and had everything I needed: working AC, hot shower, and clean interiors. It’s a bit of an old hotel, but it had a charming vibe, with elephant cushions that added a nice Sri Lankan touch. And the cable TV let me watch Spongebob Squarepants! 🧽 - They even have this old-school elevator where you have to manually open the doors. It was a little scary but super cool and retro. - Unlike other places I stayed, this hotel didn’t have any power outages, so that’s a big plus. Cons: - The wifi was being fixed during my stay, but luckily I had unlimited data from an eSIM, so it wasn’t a huge issue for me. - Since it’s an older hotel, the linens were a bit frayed and had some old stains, but it didn’t really affect my stay. For a budget hotel in the heart of Kandy, I’d definitely stay here again!
