"I was attending the Setouchi Art Festival and planning to go to Ibuki Island. I originally intended to stay near Kannonji JR station, but I stumbled upon this hotel. The price was reasonable, and it was even closer to the port. A taxi from the station directly to the hotel cost about 1000 yen, which was acceptable considering I had a lot of luggage. However, I saw some negative reviews on other websites from Japanese people, but they couldn't pinpoint any major flaws. Was it dissatisfaction and discrimination against hotels run by Chinese people? Or was the hotel truly outdated and unsightly after changing owners to Chinese? Based on my experience, it seems the former was the main issue. Based on my extensive travel experience in Japan and countless hotel stays, the room price and cleanliness were quite satisfactory. Because of road construction at Takaya Shrine, all buses were suspended, and the owner kindly offered to rent bicycles for free, which was a great help. Public transportation is so infrequent here that it's difficult to find public transport back to the city after photographing the sunset over the Sky Torii gates."

"It's about a 20-minute walk from the station, but it's a very nice hotel that's only been built six months ago and still smells brand new, with excellent service. The surrounding area is potato fields, so the air is clean. The large public bath is spacious, and although it's not a natural hot spring, the mineral stones are beautifully arranged. The complimentary coffee is also a nice touch."

"Salmonella, botulism, noro virus, one of them struck me hard. I have been in restaurant/hotel business over twenty years and my filth radar was pinging! The place is filthy, the salmon at breakfast was dry as if left out for hours. As soon as I ate it I knew I was in trouble. Intense abdominal cramps that afternoon, to the point of laboured breathing, chills, shakes, vomiting and crapping in the wild. Somehow made it back via train and promptly curled in bed with hydration fluids at my side. It passed in the night, but what a terrible ride. Upon checkout I notice housekeeping staff had neatly laid out all the face towels in front of each room by placing them directly on the dirty floor! What?! Avoid like the plague, unless you need a set for a sixties era yakuza ****** comedy."

"I heard that this is the only hotel in the prefecture where you can eat Sanuki's specialty, chicken on the bone. I ordered the "Oyadori" recommended for draft beer, vinegared skin, chicken soup and rice balls to finish off the meal. The moment I drank the smooth draft beer, I knew this place was "delicious". I savored the spicy chicken on the bone. I was feeling tipsy and all I had to do was go back to my room and sleep, which was nice."
