With the price we pay for hotel rooms, we prefer fresh towels every day. We had not been told at check-in that if we wanted housekeeping, we needed to let desk know by the prior evening. We actually did not want housekeeping, but we did want an adequate supply of towels for our stay. We used the first set of towels that night, stopped at the desk the following morning after breakfast and asked for the supply we would need for the entire stay. The receptionist was kind, but explained they didn't have enough (new supply in dryer) but they would bring to the room later in day when supply replenished. Of course no towels showed up by evening, so down to the desk we went. Managed to get supply for that evening, but no more. We had to repeat the process the following morning just to get enough for the final night. Probably spent about 45 minutes total during our stay waiting for towels, finding out when they might be available, etc. A total waste of time and could easily have been prevented if this hotel had a ready supply of towels for guests. #2 UNPROFESSIONAL ATTIRE OF DESK AGENTS Upon check-out on a weekday morning after 9am, went to front desk for hard copy of receipt. No one there for several minutes. The phone started ringing, went on for a few minutes. Finally some young woman dashes from the breakfast area to the desk, signals to someone in the back room that we are at the desk, and then answers the phone. The young man who came out of the back area to help us was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. We assumed he was staff and he indeed did check us out. Front desk people are your most visible staff members and looking like you just woke up is not the image this Hilton hotel should be projecting. Front desk also needs to be staffed so that guests are not waiting around for someone to come for minutes on end. Final note: All staff members were courteous and pleasant.

We stayed overnight in April 2022 for family business. I booked directly through the IHG Holiday Inn website, and looked at the East Lansing site directly. There was no mention of renovations or anything out of the ordinary. When we arrived, there was no desk attendant, just a ”ring bell” sign with a bell marked, ”not today”...what a welcome. The desk attendant did arrive in short order though, and he was helpful for the simple requests we needed help with. I had booked a 2 queen bed room, but we soon learned that they were both full beds, NOT queens. Our 4 year old and 3 year old normal-sized children filled one bed. They were NOT QUEENS. Also, this location is under construction. There is no breakfast, just ”to go” bags in the breakfast area. It looks like the breakfast area was just shut down one day after hot service and left. There was a warm mixture of various juices in the bottom on the juice machine, cereal in mislabeled multi-serve containers left out without milk, and cases of shelf stable juice cups and cans to go with the to go bags. Coffee was not fresh, and it had run out by 8 am. The to go bags were each filled with a random fruit or applesauce, and a nutrigrain bar or some other carb. Overall, it was disgusting. The room was ok, aside from bed sizes being wrong. There was no kleenex, and there were screw holes in the door where it appeared that the lock chain had been removed for some sort of L-shaped replacement bracket. Upon checkout, we asked the desk attendant for some sort of discount for not knowing about the non-existent breakfast and wrong bed sizes, but we were just given a business card with a manager to call some other day. Wait to book here until they get their renovations finished and their rooms properly advertised.

Attend a conference at the Lansing Center every year around this time and this is always the host hotel. It is MUCH improved over a year ago. First, I am super happy that it is part of Hilton now. Second, they have already done extensive renovations and the work continues. The hallways have been redone and so have many rooms. Everything was clean and new. I don't know what they did, but it is SO much quieter now. Last year I could hear everything going on in the hallways with my door closed. Not anymore. They added safes to the rooms, which the Radisson didn't have for some reason. My bed was comfy and my room was very clean. The lobby and that entire area has been redone. They now have a small store with a Starbucks inside and the restaurant, while closed currently, also looks like it's been redone. I'm hoping they redo the fitness room because it was bad last year, and I didn't have a chance to use it this time around. The elevators can also use some love so I hope those are also on the list for an eventual refresh They had no hot water for the first night I was there, thru no fault of the hotel. They did offer to help me get another room at a different hotel, but I decided to wait it out at least one night and if the hot water was still not working the next day, I'd consider a move. They reduced my nightly rate due to that as well. Overall, I'm pleased with the changes they've made so far. I'm hoping there are more when I go back for the conference next year too.

Courtyard Lansing

This is an okay Courtyard but needs some attention. We were given rooms just off the second floor just off the restaurant and were directed the fastest route to the room. But we weren’t told that the room was located on the complete opposite side of the property from the elevator, meaning that we had a good hike ahead of us since the property is U-shaped on the second floor. Also, breakfast was good but the dining room tables were all dirty although the room was not crowded.
