Residentas Aurea

We stayed 14 days at Residentas Aurea. We were (my wife and I) in their classic one-bedroom apartment. First of all, previous to our arrival, we had a few questions. Staff were very responsive and answered our questions within 24 hours every time. The information was precise and accurate. Residentas Aurea is at the heart of Baxia - close to Praça do Comércio, a central hub for public transportation. There are many attractions and historical monuments in this area. The classic one-bedroom is ideal for two people or couples with young children. It would be tight with older children. The apartment is spacious and well-appointed. The layout is functional and pleasant. The appliances are well maintained and of good quality. Throughout our stay, administrative staff were responsive to our requests and queries. Cleanings and towel changes were frequent and very well done. Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay at Residentas Aurea. We would not hesitateto retrun or to recommend to friends and family.
Browns Downtown Hotel

We had a great stay at this Brown's hotel (there are three more in the area so don't get confused about where you booked!) We booked a small room given we were going to spend most of our time exploring the city, and honestly, I'm glad we ignored the negative reviews regarding room sizes - the room was perfectly fine for two people with 'normal-sized' luggage! We particularly appreciated the fridge, as we were not having breakfast included with the hotel, so could store drinks and snacks to have at our leisure. Keep in mind you're staying in the most tourist-y area of Lisbon - it was never ”silent” as such, but the noise level was perfectly acceptable in terms of sleeping. Likewise, you're never going to be the only people in the hotel, so there was occasional minor noise from the adjoining rooms, but nothing concerning or abnormal for this type of hotel. If that's a worry for you, just bring earplugs! The staff were all very affable and happy to help, and overall I'd recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Lisbon for a city break!

Spotless clean. Super nice staff. Super quiet and beautiful view from the executive rooms (with terrace), it is really worth, table and chairs for afternoon coffee included, super helpful staff, thank you to Alberto & Levi at reception, they were just the best. Breakfast a variety with seeded rolls, plain rolls, croissants, fresh cakes, goat cheese, omelette, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, baked beans, my Tipp: order the “American coffee” ☕️, it is equivalent to the European coffee, the bed was super confident, in the executive room you get 2 pillows each and the bed is 2x King Size. TV huge plus international channels, walk in shower (I’m disabled and it helped!). Would give 10 stars for the hotel. Attention please: if you are having trouble walking, the hotel is on a slightly hill. But I’m disabled and thought it is good excercise.
Pousada de Lisboa - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

5 star for a reason. Quiet and relaxed. We stayed for 3 nights and booked a superior room. We were on the 4th floor with a small window, excellent bathroom and air conditioning. Staff were good and all spoke English as well as other languages. We had breakfast there and even for the porridge they were able to accommodate made with water for me and milk for my husband. Their breakfast buffet was well stocked and had everything we expected as well as some local breads, pastries and deserts. Yes, baked custard and chocolate mousse were there. We tried the Rib restaurant one evening and the steak was excellent. For fish you need to go out. We tried the Taberna da Rua das Flores for the local experience which is 10 mins walk away but we used a taxi. There is a taxi rank just across the road in the square. We will use this hotel the next time we go and thoroughly recommend it.
Dream Chiado Apartments

Before I begin, I would like to note that I rarely provide negative or even ”average” reviews. In this case, I am providing an average review of 3 stars because there are certainly some good things about Dream Chiado-- although I was wavering between providing a 2 star and a 3 star review. I decided on 3 stars because I think the ”good things” are really worth mentioning. So, I will begin with the good stuff. Dream Chiado is in an amazing location. It is close to everything, and we explored all over Lisbon. Having explored so many other areas, I believe this location is one of the best in the city. Further, the price of Dream Chiado is very reasonable. If. you are on a budget, the price can't be beat. Finally, it is really nice to have a little kitchen and place to sit for breakfasts or happy hours. We didn't do any ”cooking” but it was great to have a coffee and pick up some wine, cheese, and crackers and breakfast foods at the Pingo Dos down in the Rossio area. The room was a nice size and much bigger than we anticipated for a European city. Now, on to the less-than-ideal parts of Dream Chiado. The most important and serious issue that we found was that the front door to the building was broken and could not be locked in the evenings. This felt like this was an important security issue to us (two women traveling alone), and we felt that anyone could enter the building and hang out in the halls with no problems. When we asked about the door, we were told that they were trying to get it fixed.. but we were there for 7 nights and it was not fixed in that time period. We didn't notice this issue the first night, so I would guess it was broken for at least 6 of the 7 nights we stayed. Next, the rooms are in need of some very basic care. Our room had water stains on the walls, the wallpaper was coming off the room, and the lamp was coming off the wall and the cord was completely frayed. Truly, it was surprising to see a place with such little attention to basic things like wallpaper coming off the walls. It looked terrible and made us feel that the room was dumpy without anyone caring for something so basic (I suggest the staff fix the water damage, remove the wall paper and just paint the room and fix the appliances.. it would be easy and do a lot of good for the room). Finally, we found the staff to be not especially friendly or helpful. We found the people of Portugal to be so lovely in the rest of the places we stayed.. we just had the feeling that the staff really didn't like us, no matter how nice we tried to be. It was just uncomfortable. Also if you need staff, note that they are not there all the time (this is fine, but you may not hear from them quickly even when you use Whatsapp to contact them after hours).Again, this isn't a big problem for us, but just something to note. I am attaching pictures of the room that shows the water damage and lamp coming off the wall.

Great location. Hotel is very clean and every single staff member I encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast did not has a lot of varieties but is good enough. Stayed for four nights and will definitely stay in the same hotel again in future.
