Hotel Vaubecour

I chose this hotel because of the reviews and the owner’s response to the reviews. I knew exactly what it was going to be like based on what I read. The owner, Mr. Prieur, replied to most reviews and I appreciated the time he took and the responses he gave. I knew the hotel would be clean, and a great value. I was not disappointed! The room and bathroom were a generous size, we had two twin beds pushed together which is what I expected and the owner had confirmed with me that is what I wanted. The room was extremely clean and the beds and sheets were comfortable. I knew there was no AC as I made sure to check in the description, but knew it would be cooler when I was there so it would not be a problem. The room is decently sound proofed and there was a fan in case you need air. There is also a kettle to make coffee or tea. We did not have breakfast, but I’m sure it would have been lovely. The hotel and area felt safe and there was a lift which was great! The young man who checked us in was very nice and helpful, as well as the owner Mr. Prieur. There are a couple of restaurants in the area and a bakery down the street. It’s also walking distance to the old town of Lyon. There’s a little market downstairs as well so you can buy drinks or snacks. We ate at Casabea for dinner in a lively area of restaurants and the food was great and the waiter was lovely. I truly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to stay here again! It’s a great price and a lovely place!

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Vaubecour. For a very reasonable price, you get to experience a hotel but also a more authentic French apar**ent experience in a great location. Each room has a fireplace (non-functional) from back in the day. It is super cute :) Also, it has everything you need for a few nights, enjoyable stay.

Very well located small hotel in Presqu’îsle. Quiet street, yet near restaurants, cafés and metro. Really friendly and helpful staff. We had a Junior Suite, a corner room overlooking quiet street - very French! Very comfortable bed, great shower. Perfect for our stay in Lyon

Paid for privilege room but very basic accommodation. Small, limited furnishings, poor tea/coffee facilities. Small limited TV, no mini bar, no fridge, no phone, no bedside tables. Limited access. Location good for station. Would have been just about acceptable at half the price.

First thing. The hotel has a 2 Star plaque on the outside of the building, and I think that's fair. It was hot when I arrived, and there was a fan in the room. Merci. Wi-Fi worked great. I usually don't pay for breakfast, and I'm sorry that I didn't. Fresh breads, coffee, and juice were being enjoyed in the lounge. But not to worry, just down the block there are 3 places to buy breakfast pastries, breads, and croissants. Prices ranged for 1 euro for croissants to 5 euro for pastry. Cheap by New York standards. I booked a single room, but didn't expect it to be as small as it was. Solo travelers need to treat themselves to a larger room or suite. There was a desk, a very nice bathroom with great shower, good bedding and towels. Pillow was a little flat for me, but that's the way it is. As for television, there was only 1 English station (France) that kept repeating the news every half hour. Suggestion... please add CNN or BBC. On my first morning, the water didn't drain properly from the shower. The owner promptly took care of the issue and was very apologetic. So much so that he issued me a full credit! Gasp. In the United States I would have been happy with a free breakfast or points, so I appreciated the financial gesture. The owner and his wife were lovely people and it was a pleasure staying here. The subway/tube was a 5 - 8 minute walk. Sights were 10 - 20 minutes depending on where you were headed. For longer distances take public transportation. This hotel is a charming property on a quiet side street in the 2nd Arr. It's a 5 - 10 minute walk to the subway/tube. Most sights were a 10 - 20 minute walk, or you could take public transportation. I would return if and when I return to Lyon.

This hotel is well located, situated between the Saone river and a commercial pedestrian street. It's within walking distance of the historic old Town of Lyon. There are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. The room is clean and comfortable, with charming Haussmannian decor. The hotel owner is very welcoming. I will definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Lyon.

This hotel exceeds expectations and is so cha**ing and unique. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with lots of historic details both in the room and shated areas. The room was spotless and the bed is comfortable.The owners and staff are so kind and helpful. I will certainly come back!

This Hotel was a great find. Easy to get to from the airport. The owners were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were. clean and cosy. There’s a metro nearby, which was great as it was very cold the weekend we were there. We had 3 rooms for our grown up family. We’ll be back.

Quaint and very old fashioned this property is good form having that old France experience. However I would not recommend it long term. It was like staying in an apar**ent with EXTREMELY loud and annoying neighbors. My entire 24 hours there I kept wondering, ‘okay now what is that??? Are they cutting down trees or just moving all of their furniture?’ Plus if you are handicapped at all this is not the hotel for you. I picked it because it said elevator and I have a bum knee- elevator was tiny and also non operational so up two flights of stairs I lugged my luggage to get to the lobby.
