The room was clean and neat. Bed was comfortable. The owner was helpful and received us at the intimated time of arrival. The room was however a bit weird, since the comfortable sofas in the room were facing the toilet which had no doors or even a curtain. Surely watching your partner on the toilet seat while having a cup of coffee in the morning was not the best way to begin the day. More importantly, the place is in the middle of nowhere far from town and nothing in its vicinity. There are no restaurants nearby and getting to Sweet Rooms is a job by itself. Most taxi operators were reluctant to come there. Therefore, unless you have vehicle with you or have hired van or cab for the day, it is certainly not advisable. What made the experience worse, was that Wael introduced us to the caretaker Mohammed. This man ruined our stay because at every step he was out to fleece money from the guests. Since there was no restaurant nearby, nor taxi available; we asked whether he would be able to get us a meal since we had landed after travelling nearly 17 hours. After taking a hefty advance in US$, he got the food, but the cost that he informed us was exorbitant. He claimed that there was no bill. Having paid him an advance of much more in US $, I had no option but to accept the amount. To top that, he claimed that he had no change and showed no inclination to return even what was due as per him. In the morning although we had to leave for visiting Luxor, he turned up late (despite being informed the time that we have to leave), then prepared a measly, breakfast (which was included in our price) of a small one egg omelette with local bread and beans. Since we asked for 2 egg omelette, he insisted that that would be charged extra. Finally, while leaving, I had to simply forget about the balance money that I had to receive back from him (even after deducting all the extra charges insisted upon by him) from the advance dollars I given on the previous day.
