Had seven nights in Melbourne. First three in Mercure Welcome. Not impressed. Moved to Citiclub and it’s great! Clean, much larger with a tub. Great bed and pillows. Plenty of living space and a great bathroom. Easy walk to everything and lovely staff. Best thing is hardly any visible people so easy to move around get lifts etc.

We didn’t look to the hotel for more than just a bed for the night, so didn’t check out the other facilities. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice, and the room was set up in a modern and pleasant way. The room has most of what you need but it is very small, with very little space to even set down a suitcase. I would have preferred access to a full size ironing board rather than a desktop one.

Stayed here over two nights with my partner and we both were VERY happy with the stay. The ONLY thing unfortunately that we did not like was the fact that the bed sheets had several blood stains on them which was highly concerning. I called them for a replacement which they were HAPPY to do however i figured since i'm just staying for 1 more night i would use the extra blanket stored away in the room in hopes that no one really uses it and that it is clean throughout because it also gets washed after every stay. Unfortunately even that was kind of dirty with dried up white crumbs on the fabric (kind of looks like dried up dough). By then, it was already too late to call for a replacement and had to settle with that. The oven also could not close completely and i had to put a chair against and under the handle bar to keep it closed. Other than the blanket cleanliness and oven door, everything else was perfect. My partner and i absolutely loved the place and despite the negative aspects of the things mentioned, do keep in mind that the hotel staff were more than happy to fix the issue and were very friendly, which i did not take them up on the offer as i did not want to hassle them for just 1 more nights stay. Therefore, if you decide to stay here, just make sure you check everything and request anything before the after-hour times. Additionally, their customer service was also very friendly as previously mentioned. They also allowed a late check-out by 1 hour, free of charge which i really appreciated. They were very patient and exceptionally welcoming every time i spoke to them. The check in and check out process were all quick and easy and i would highly recommend a stay here. It's pricing is great as well and they are close to the CBD!

Clean rooms, friendly staff and perfect location. Easily accessible to the public transport and eating points. Great value for the money. Good budget option for a short visit. I would love to come again.

The staff were not following COVID protocols. None wore masks. Day manager actually spoke to us with mask on chin and AROUND the safety barrier. One pen used for everything by everyone. Night manager & staff as well as other guests were all maskless. We were not asked to show proof of our vaccination status. Inspired ZERO confidence that they were actually sanitising anything. My partner also felt unsafe as there were a lot of people loitering around the building. The room was clean and tidy. Located excellently for the event we were attending. Hot water worked, loved the choice of flooring. That was all. The room offered only one single bar of soap. No shower gel, shampoo or any extra toiletries as is expected from even the most basic accomodation you can stay in anywhere else. I have stayed in youth hostels in the outback and even they offered more than a tiny bar of soap. There was no indications of any extra services offered or being available. There were no extra pillows or blankets available in the room. One very flat pillow per person and a thin doona only. The pillows were so low that I could not sleep on it and when I asked for another pillow from the night manager I was met with rudeness. He finally gave me an old, dirty pillow with no pillow case (see photos). When I asked for a pillow case he acted like I was being ridiculous. We slept badly as the bed was very hard. Actually went home and slept as we were so tired from the uncomfortable bed. Upon checkout we got stuck in the lift as the door to the G floor would not open. We finally called for help using the phone but even though the front desk manager answered and said he would be with us immediately he was not. We finally left by going back to our floor and using the fire escape to exit via the basement parking. He then told us he couldn’t hear what we were saying on the phone so basically ignored us, and then gave some rubbish excuse about the one elevator being an old one that was not for guests. Basically if we had not exited the way we did we would have been stuck in the elevator for hours being ignored. There was no signage indicating anywhere that one of the two lifts was not for guests, and if the lift was not for guests you would think it would be clearly marked so.

The room is quite nice and the location is good. It’s self checkin so I had to wait downstairs for a while as there was no staff and I wasn’t aware of this. There was a really a noisy alarm in the building across the street from my room and I asked to change room around midnight. The staff aren’t very accommodating and I couldn’t change room. Luckily the noise stopped after a while. The hotel is okay but I had actually just come from the Brady Hotel at Central Melbourne where the price and location is similar but with much better customer service. I’d suggest skipping the Ibis.

I am interstate for business on a regular basis and have stayed in many well rated accommodation venues however, I struggle to find anything to criticize at this hotel. The staff are amazing - nothing is too much trouble, they do all the little things, over and above what I would expect to make you feel like a special guest. They all seemed to be ”hand-picked” to suit the service culture of the hotel. The quality and cleanliness of the facilities are A1. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. A small table & chairs, couch and huge TV were a welcome feature. The conference facilities worked well. Conference catering, breakfast room and intimate Bistro/cocktail bar offered quality food & drinks. My partner is disabled in a wheelchair and all his needs were well & truly met in a standard room. Only 1 suggestion - it would be great to have magnetic door stoppers installed so the door will stay open while moving through with the wheelchair or bags. I stay in hotels A LOT! But except for one other occasion, I've never bothered to leave reviews. But this place is one of the more questionable hotels I've stayed at for several reasons. The hotel: - they charged my credit card the full fee a day BEFORE I checked in. They have a 24 hr cancellation period with minimal one night charge yet they still took it upon themselves to charge me before I actually checked in - very unethical - they want a photo of government issued ID. Weird, with all the crazy data breaches occurring, it's recommended private entities DO NOT store this unnecessary data, yet they still expected a copy. I didn't provide it, just let them sight it upon check in - the pics used to promote the apartments are stretched out and misleading. The actual apartment is small, very small if you consider the costs incurred - photos online make it look like there is a bathtub, (and when I called the hotel to check, the person I spoke to told me there was a bathtub) but there actually isn't any which is VERY inconvenient when travelling with a companion who can only use a tub (for accessibility reasons) - they don't do housekeeping every day. You can ask for fresh towels but goodluck getting a vacuum or dirty bin emptied. The actual apartment - there is no ducted air conditioning. On a hot day (was 35° when I checked in) I needed to blast the AC at 18° (we froze in the living area) just so cool air can seep into the bedroom and cool it down so we can sleep - the actual apartment was very dirty. Tiles had previous occupants hair on the floor, carpet is stained in multiple locations, glass doors and outside balcony railing dirty with hand prints and smudges - minimal crockery and cutlery provided. Only one drinking glass provided - no tea towel provided - phone in room not set up. Had to call reception from my mobile to report issues - oddly there are very few electrical ports in the living area. Difficult to charge devices - there is no shelving in the wardrobe, and it's difficult to tidy anything up or pack things away. Only one storage shelf and you need a ladder to access it - the railing for the wardrobe is so high, one needs to be over 7 foot to use it - to access the bathroom, one needs to go through the bedroom so it's really hard to have one person stay up while another sleeps - the bathroom doesn't have a drain so any access water needs to be mopped with the towels to avoid a slip hazard (problematic as they only give you 2 towels and don't do daily room service) - there are NO clothes hooks in the bathroom The positives: Overall the staff were pleasant and friendly. Every staff member I spoke to in person was hospitable, helpful and very kind. The blockout blinds were good and the sound proofing was great. They also accommodated late check out. I felt very disappointed as I travel to Melbourne monthly and was very disappointed to pay premium costs for accommodation but get what I consider inadequate facilities. I'd only recommend s

The Deluxe room we were allocated was possibly the worst view you could get for the most expensive price you could pay. We were allocated a room ( 210) directly opposite the lifts and in the room out view consisted of overlooking a persons apartment and as they were having drinks on the balcony and we were maybe 2metres away from that building there was zero privacy . The curtains were very fine materiel so in order to have some distance between us and them we were forced to keep the heavy drapes closed all day and night . This made the small room very claustrophobic, the windows don’t appear to be doubled glazed so on the lower levels you can hear the bins being emptied and the general rough and tumble of the lower laneways and the residents in the adjacent building having late night drinks . When we enquired about moving rooms we were offered a room two doors down . The annoying thing was they said they were fully booked so there was no rooms on higher floors we could move too . A quick check on Wotif revealed that there were actually rooms available that you could book so there were vacancies , but l guess it was better to hold them open to get top dollar rather than to accommodate current guests who’d paid upfront 2months prior . I would have moved current guests who had a legitimate concern if it had been me making the decision as a gesture of support, but l guess they weren’t to concerned because we’d paid already but that type of contempt for guests who chose to stay in good faith wears thin . Not a pleasant stay wouldn’t recommend and will be happy for a refund !

pros: Good situation, Convenient transportation nearby. cons: Maybe cause of detergent or disinfectant of bed sets, I felt my skin was itchy that never happened the hotels I lived before. After I lay down in the bed for 20mins, the itchy feeling came. When I went out, no itchy feeling came. We three people lived in this hotel, I was the first person to feel that. lateron, other two felt like I was. Alo, one of staffs at the front desk is not professional, my room number is 339, I said three thirty nine, he didn't know; I said double three nine, he didn't get it ether and he said I said wrong number. These number expressions are common in the North America
