Hotel berhampiran Damian Contreras Fonseca, Mexico City

I was excited about this place as I really didn’t want my family to stay at another Western cliche chain hotel that Mexico City is abundant in. In hindsight, I wish I had opted for the latter as … well, you know what to expect and, if need be, what to do to get your way. I had booked Hotel Flamencos for two stays, before and after our travel outside of Mexico City. The second stay was cancelled by me. Below are the reasons why.  A short summary of my trouble here: --I booked my room 6 months in advance (using a third party site) and communicated to the hotel directly about my expectations. All was almost overbearingly sweet, with promises of ”accommodation” showered all over. TO EMPHASIZE: I HAD ASKED TO LOOK INTO MY CONCRETE RESERVATION AND CONFIRM THAT MY TWO KIDS WOULD BE ACCOMMODATED. The answer? We confirm!  -- All niceness ended upon arrival at the hotel as, instead of a welcome, the front desk person extended a message of additional charges for my son, who is 14. Instantly, ALL this hotel was about was getting their additional 350 pesos (USD18) per night for my child. Me showing my  communication with the hotel didn't do a thing. Fine. Whatever! - It only got worse from there as ”the only room available” turned out to be A ROOM WITH NO WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, they have those at this place on each floor, so, in case you are considering this place, please know that your room is ”based on availability.” As I threatened to LEAVE, they somehow FOUND the right type of room (granted, we showed up shortly after noon, so they did give us a courtesy of an early check-in). Thank you!  - The location of the hotel is TERRIBLE: flee markets, warehouses, LOADS of traffic, HUGE CROWDS OF PEOPLE queuing up for busses or just packing the area are  truly not very enjoyable. Aside from street food, which you may not be able to get easily (because of A LOT OF PEOPLE), no decent places to eat around. Hands down, there are MUCH better areas! - I killed 4 mosquitos in my room. Apparently, there is a way for them to get into your room through the bathroom. The stench from the kitchen downstairs gets into your room the same way, too. -- The breakfast is basic and easy to get tired of. The breakfast area is small. A few other details: - Amidst my check-in debacle, I asked to speak with a manager. Unsurprisingly, that person ”had a day off” (of course! :)). And it was the same guy who handled check in who continued replying to my emails, obviously rejoicing in the opportunity to practice English, rather than put the situation right. -- The manager was not to be found the next day, either. Nobody, aside from the front desk dude, ever reached out to me. I mean... I had requested a conversation with somebody who runs this place. 어플로 사전 결제완료했는데 확인이 안된다며 다시 결제하라고해서 휴대폰에 저장된 예약번호와 결제된 내용까지 확인시켜주었는데도 모른다고했다. 한참을 그러고 나서야 트립닷컴 어플인걸 확인했다며 사과없이 룸으로 안내를 했으나 룸기도 고장. 곧 다시 교체해주었다. 방은 깨끗하고 시설은 괜찮았으나 몸컨디션이 좋지않아 에어컨의 온도를 올려놓고 잠들었는데, 한밤중에 누군가 방안으로 강제로 침입했다. 침입한 사람들은 직원이었고 그들은 방온도가 이상해서 확인하러 왔다고 했다. 그런데 분명 고객이 방에 있는걸 알고 있을텐데 어떠한 호출이나 노크도 없이 무단으로 침입해서 무척 당황스럽고 무서웠다. 직원들은 친절했으나 손님에 대한 배려가 전혀없다. 두번다시 가고싶지 않은 호텔. 동남아의 3만원짜리 방보다도 못한 서비스였다.

The hotel location is very nice and room are clean, but there might be noise from outside street until mid-night.

Excelente servicio! Personal muy agradable. Se agradece que el check out sea a la 13:00 hr. Y te dan minutos extras para que dejes la habitación. Muy recordable! La habitación es amplia.

The hotel is quite convenient. From T1 is a short walk distance and from T2 there’s a shuttle bus every 15min. To get there from T2, you need to exit from gate 4; towards this gate you can find a Camino Real Hotel office. I stayed overnight, which I think is enough. The hotel room is old, with details on the walls specially in the bathroom. The experience was alright.

Un gran lugar para hosped****, la habitación muy amplia, todo limpio, el personal muy amable y eficiente. La vista desde la Terraza es muy bonita.

早餐再精緻ㄧ點，咖啡太淡了，不然買咖啡機，就更棒了

房間很大，有工作桌椅和沙發。窗外的景色非常好，清晨躺在床上就可以看到日出，這是我們最喜歡的一點。床的軟硬適度，不是那種坐上去就會整個塌陷下去的讓人腰疼的軟床，我們很滿意。距離公交車站很近，周圍餐廳也很多，可惜都很貴且味道也一般，並不值得，後來我們總是坐公交到Roma區吃東西，那裡的食物更好吃。

Unfortunately I am not staying in the hotel but go every morning to the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast, and for ice latte in the afternoon. The staff is amazing! Friendly, polite, attentive! Green juice is fresh and tasty, cappuccino is great, just like ice latte. I had avocado toast with poached eggs for breakfast, which was perfectly prepared, got some fresh fruits before. Really healthy and tasty for a really good price. The restaurant looks nice and has a chic vibe! I will keep coming back until I’m here on vacation. I also go the the hotel’s gym every day which is very well equipped and clean, has a lot of space and types to free weights, cardio and weight machines to use.

Breakfast quality was satisfactory. Starting time can be earlier. Room size was big and very comfortable and the cleanliness was good. Very impressive to couples and families. There was a gym room for free which was nice. Their staff were friendly and helpful. Their top management may consider providing a corner with plenty of tourist information instead of running it as a business hotel only. More special plants or colourful flowers may be added to decorate the lobby like a resort.
