Oriental Hotel Universal City

Best hotel location for families to visit USJ. Reception service is excellent and helpful. There is room for improvement in terms of cleanliness inside the room. For example, the cups being placed inside the room were not very clean with residuals, for 2 consecutive days. Overall a good hotel to stay.

The hotel is near the JR station(around 2-3 mins walk) and just in front of the USJ (around 5 mins walk). This is absolutely a nice place if you have plan a trip to USJ. It reduces your time on travel back and forth to the Osaka city after queuing the whole day in USJ. There was a welcome drink on the check in date, and snack (a tasty hotdog) in the evening. The breakfast is tasting good and looking nice as well. The room is clean and it has a nice view with the front door of USJ. It’s absolutely amazing. Definitely we recommend you to stay in this hotel.

Service is bad. Do not expect the service to be that of the usual Japanese hospitality. Otherwise, consider staying for pure utility purposes. We checked in at around 4:00pm on 16th September and were standing at the reception, waiting for the staff to finish their conversation before we thought it was appropriate to check-in . We were not greeted, and we were served by a Mr S at the reception. He was rude, examined our European passports like an immigration officer because our Asian appearance did not seem to "match" our nationality, we were eventually just handed an Ipad to choose options ourselves because his English was poor and did not try to communicate. His attempt at service was below par, and showed lack of respect and courtesy. In fact, we were actually able to converse in basic Japanese, but because he did not attempt to talk at all, we did not assist. Definitely not the kind of service one would expect anywhere, especially in Japan, and especially where family and couples come here for fun and joy! You would definitely feel a big change and drop in service; this was the last hotel on our trip having stayed at various places in Japan. There are many other customer's comments on this website that said that service at the hotel was bad, and they were in fact true. Despite the hotel's responses of improving their training there clearly were still room for improvement. Given that the hotel was just within a few minutes of the park entrance, consider staying at the hotel for pure utility purposes and nothing more. Staff clearly thought the same and didn't bother to make guests feel at home as most guests are probably here to spend majority of their time at the theme park. I would not stay here again as there are many other options around the area, and I could easily choose another hotel to try, booking just 2 days in advance of my trip. Room facilities were slightly old, but reasonable. They compensated this by providing extra toiletries such as make up remover etc. Washroom and bedroom was generally decent. Vending machine, microwave and ice are available on each floor at the end of the corridor. A family-type utility hotel.

Best location, hotel grand floor with drinks/ ice cream machine, they offer welcome drinks and little water bottle as gifts for kids, the kids love the ‘welcome ‘ ice cream machine so much

It's such a great experience staying there with my family. it is near the station exit and the USJ just around the corner. though I feel it would be great to have more furniture in the room since I have nowhere to place my things and clothings except a small table and a chair in the room. This time It's my first to use Airporter for delivering my luggage to my next hotel. it saves us a lot of time in transferring. I like it!

Very nice location and so many restaurants around the hotel. The room is very clean and I love the breakfast so much

Wonderful property. Room looks to be renovated. Decent sized with reasonable amenities for the price. Location close to USJ and train station. Plenty of restaurants just outside the Hotel. Welcome voucher include drink and cookies bar, and a hot dog per person. Internet was good. There is free luggage storage facility. One downside is there is no coin laundry facility.

Staff and helpful and went beyond their duties to help check and get confirmation of our booking of night bus from USJ to Tokyo. Breakfast was well-catered for guests of different age group including children between 2-12 years old. Lastly, the location of the hotel being not too far from the train station and USJ but affordable for 3 nights stay is a plus point

The hotel is less than 5 minutes walking distance to the gate of Universal Studio Japan. You can spot it once stepping out of the train station. There was a baggage room for guests before and after checking in/out of the hotel to store their shopping loot and luggage. It is very considerate for guests who are visiting the USJ for 2 consecutive and/or too tired after playing one whole day in it. There is also a bathtub in our room which we can have a hot bath/foot bath after walking around the park (or even standing queueing up for hours). Their front desk staff can communicate in English and Chinese. Very grateful for it!
