Really enjoyed our stay here. The place was clean, cozy, and the staff were very accommodating from check-in until checkout. They even offered complimentary coffee and tea upon arrival which was such a nice touch. What made our stay extra special was how they surprised our son with a birthday cake and restaurant credit for his birthday. Super thoughtful and truly appreciated. Thank you for making our stay memorable

Hotel is a bit far from town but it provides free town shuttle. We booked the balcony room hoping to get a better view. We have rooms with big trees in front. When asked if we can change rooms, he won’t change since it’s not booked direct. The balcony room has little heat as the heater is smaller and the room is colder.

This resort is reasonably close to the Banff city centre. There is a hot swimming pool which we didn’t use. Other than that, room is clean and functional. Highly recommended.

The hotel is not located in the city center, but that wasn't a problem because they provide complimentary Roam bus passes for Routes 1, 2, 4, and 6. If you enjoy walking, Banff Avenue is only about a 20-minute walk from the hotel. They also offer free luggage storage, although you need to bring your own padlock. When we checked in, the front desk staff was very polite, welcoming, and always smiling. Complimentary drinking water is available, and it's convenient that there's a restaurant on-site where you can have your meals. Our room was clean, and the linens smelled fresh. The shared bathroom was also clean and well-maintained. Check-out was quick and hassle-free. The only issue we experienced happened late at night. We were waiting for the shuttle bus we had booked to take us to Calgary Airport. It was already past 11:00 p.m., and the shuttle had still not arrived. We asked the receptionist if he could help us contact the shuttle operator and even provided the contact number. However, his facial expression and response made us feel as though he was unwilling to assist. While this may have been a misunderstanding, it was the only time during our stay that we felt the front desk staff was not eager to help. As a result, my husband and I felt uncomfortable asking for assistance again and ended up waiting on our own. Despite this experience, our overall stay was pleasant. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and offered good value for money. I would still recommend it to travelers looking for a convenient and budget-friendly place to stay in Banff

Stayed for a short weekend trip in Nov. We got a nice corner room on the third floor with 1 king bed and it was really cozy and comfortable with a mountain view. Unfortunately, the hot tub was closed at that time for maintenance (?). Overall, I would highly recommend it.

We stayed at Royal Canadian Lodge in Banff from March 26–29 with my 7-year-old daughter, and overall we had a great experience. Check-in was simple and straightforward. We arrived in the early evening, and Jason at the front desk was the most approachable and helpful hotel staff member I have ever dealt with. He remembered my daughter’s name, greeted her every day, checked in with us throughout our stay, and added little touches that made the trip feel extra special for both of us. The renovated room itself was fairly standard for a hotel room, but comfortable. Our room had two queen beds, which worked well for us. The bathroom had a shower only, with no bathtub, but that was not an issue. The pillows were big and lumpy, all 8 of the pillows in our room were too high/tall for my daughter to use comfortably. There are robes provided in the room, it would be a nice touch if they could also provide kids size robes. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker with coffee, and kettle with tea provided in the room. We ordered room service one night and tried the pulled pork poutine, which was the daily special from the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not very good, and I would not recommend it. The TV included free cable and on-demand programming, as well as pay-per-view movies. I had brought my laptop and an HDMI cord, and we were able to connect it to the TV easily to watch our own movies. Watching on-demand, my daughter discovered The Simpsons and loved it (lol) The pool area was a big highlight for us. The pool is salt water rather than chlorine. The water itself was on the cooler side, but there was also a good-sized hot tub and a large steam room. My daughter quickly made friends with another family staying at the hotel, and the kids spent multiple hours a day in the pool together. The gym was small but functional. In the four days we were there, it was empty every time we walked by. Parking is $20 per day, which does add up. There is also free street parking behind the hotel if you are able to find a spot. One fun feature in the lobby was the robot, which the kids absolutely loved. We were told that after construction is complete, it will be delivering items to guest rooms. During our stay it moved around the lobby, told jokes, and handed out free apples. The hotel was reasonably priced compared with other options in the area. I chose it specifically for the pool setup, knowing we would be spending a lot of time there, and it worked out really well for that. Shops and restaurants on the main street were about a 10-minute walk away, or you could take the bus that stops outside the neighboring hotel for $2 per ride, with kids riding free. I would definitely stay here again in the future. The price, location, rooms, and pool make this a very family-friendly hotel option in Banff. Biggest thank you to Jason at the front desk for the spectacular service we enjoyed.

I recently stayed at Irwin’s Mountain Inn for a quick winter getaway, and overall, it’s a solid choice for those who want to be in the heart of Banff without the premium price tag of the luxury resorts. What I Loved: The Location: You really can't beat being right on Banff Avenue. It was a quick, scenic 5-10 minute walk to the downtown core for dinner and shopping. Plus, the ski shuttle stop is just steps away, which is a massive plus in January. The Amenities: After a cold day outside, the 8-person hot tub and dry cedar sauna were highlights. They were well-maintained and exactly what I needed to thaw out. The Staff: From check-in to check-out, the service was genuinely warm. They were happy to provide local tips and made the process seamless. On-site Dining: We grabbed breakfast at El Toro Restaurant inside the hotel. The food was surprisingly good—definitely a step above your standard hotel fare—and very convenient on a chilly morning. A Few Considerations: Noise Levels: As some other travelers have noted, the walls are a bit thin. I could occasionally hear activity in the hallways and the hum of the heating system, though it didn't ruin my sleep. Parking: The underground parking is a great perk (especially to keep the snow off the car), but it is limited and quite tight. If you’re arriving late in the evening during peak season, you might have to hunt for a spot. Room Vibe: The rooms are clean and functional, but they do feel a bit ”classic.” If you are looking for ultra-modern luxury, this isn't it—but for a cozy, budget-friendly mountain base, it hits the mark. Final Verdict: A fantastic mid-range option for winter travelers. It’s clean, cozy, and perfectly situated. I’d definitely stay here again for the convenience and the hot tub alone!

Great location but the cleanliness of the bathroom was terrible. First room assigned to us had poop on the toilet, then they reassigned us to a different room but then the bathroom condition was not good either. ***** hairs were on the bathtub.

We had a wonderful stay at Bow View Lodge. The location is excellent, with the river just behind the property, providing a beautiful and peaceful spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. We also appreciated the front desk team calling ahead to reconfirm our reservation dates, which was a thoughtful touch and gave us peace of mind before arrival. While the rooms are a bit dated, they were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Overall, a great value for the location and a pleasant place to stay while enjoying the beautiful Banff!

Convenient to the main town area, easy to take town buses to the gondola and Lake Louise. They also provided a 3-day pass for town buses (does not include the bus to Lake Louise)
