Hotel berhampiran Decogallery, The Mexican Touch, Playa Del Carmen

We are a well travelled couple who are generally easy going and not hugely demanding. Positives: - The hotel is centrally located. - The hotel is quirky and a little quaint (personal opinion). - The hotel is fairly cheap. - Cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. - Our room was huge. OK's: - Reception staff friendly-ish (some more than others). - Cute little pool but way too much chlorine. Negatives: - The reception staff can barely communicate in English and made no effort to get hold of someone who did. - We booked a room with two beds. The one bed was very firm and the second not useable (it was too unstable to sit on let alone sleep on. - The pillows were made from memory foam and accordingly very hard. Woke up most mornings with back and neck ache. - Air-conditioner leaked non-stop. We had to use both trash cans in the room to collect the water and they needed regular emptying. Reported this to reception on 4 occasions without remedy. - Lack of furniture in the room. The room is listed to cater for 4 guests however there was only 1 dinning chair in the room for use at the little table. - The balcony is a good size but no chairs, however there was a table. Also the railing around the balcony was very wobbly and badly rusted (certainly wouldn't let children play on that balcony. - The shower-head was very old and blocked which resulted in the bathroom getting flooded and a rather unpleasant shower experience. - General maintenance of the room was terrible. Windows and balcony door opened and closed with difficulty. Front door was felt very insecure and the internal locks (chain lock) was barely attached to the door. (granted I never felt unsafe). Holes in the walls that have never been filled or repaired. - One day we noticed what appeared to be bloody foot steps in the pool area. It unfortunately took the staff two days to clean these footprints. Unfortunately, I would never stay at this hotel again. I would also not recommend this hotel to anybody else.

I would not recommend this hotel. There was no water supply in the room and electricity supply in the communal area (which means no lift) for our last night of stay. We have to carry our heavy luggage down the stairs at check out. Receptionist promised to refund the money for the last night, but our booking agent said the hotel is not reachable as they never reply to phone calls or emails, so our refund request is still on hold. The hotel committed to proceed with our refund immediately but obviously this is not the case. I am really disappointed with my stay.

My experience was not very positive, mainly because of the staff at the reception desk, They charged me twice for my stay even though I showed them that I already paid online, they insisted that I pay again, before accessing the room and still didn’t receive the refund for that second paiement The room itself is really beautiful , clean and confortable ! They charged us for using some amenities, even though it was in open access and no notice indicated that this was a paying service, The breakfast is underwhelming to say the least, The place is close to the parks of Xplore and Xcaret you can either choose to go by walking (30 min) or take a taxi that will cost you 20 dollars for 7 min But it’s pretty far from the city Center of Playa del Carmen, you will need to take a taxi, it will cost at least 20 dollars, or you could walk for 40 min This hotel has a very high potentiel, if the reception desk staff would be friendlier, and more helpful, and if they could make a small improvement on the breakfast

We traveled to Playa Del Carmen in June 2024, with a booking for the Thompson main house. I was researching the property a couple weeks before travel and realized the A/C has been non-functional for many weeks. This was not good to read. As this is a Hyatt property, I was surprised that Hyatt let a property continue with no A/C for this long of a duration. I was informed I would need to contact the property directly. The main house desk informed that they would be moving our booking to the Thompson beach house. The communication was very good via email. I appreciated this. Our reservation was moved to a Partial Oceanfront King with Balcony at the Thompson Beach House. This is the smallest room on the property. We did expect more as we did book a larger room at the main house. This room does not provide anywhere to sit in the room. Only the bed. AS the reservation was transferred, I also had to call Hyatt to find the booking and apply the World of Hyatt points as the transfer somehow lost the World of Hyatt member number. The good: The beach house is a 27-room boutique hotel. A great place to relax. A small bar and a restaurant on the property. Food and drinks were perfect. We pre-purchased, the all-inclusive package. A wristband was provided at check-in. We did walk over to the main house during the day and used the rooftop pool. Great place to hang out. The DJ, Fabian was mixing great music for a few hours every day. Our waiter Emiliano was also perfect every day at the pool. They both made the experience perfect. We ate at the outdoor restaurants at the main house for both breakfast and lunch. Always excellent food and service. The check-in process at the beach house was smooth and efficient. Maid service was perfect every day. The bad: The room, a Partial Oceanfront King with Balcony, is very small and I would not recommend this choice. There are better options with a bit more space. Even though we had the all-inclusive package we had to pay for a round of drinks from the top-shelf menu. I would have thought our bartender would have seen the wristbands and mentioned to us that the drinks he chose for us were not part of the all-inclusive package. Word of advice for the all-inclusive option – always confirm what is covered and what is not. What could improve: Fix the A/C at the main house or close the property. Hyatt should be embarrassed that they are even allowing patrons to book a facility without A/C. This should be known upfront. Customers should not have to research a property and then wonder what will happen when they arrive. Thankfully, I did research and proactively contacted the property for a move request.

This new hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to 5th Street, the beaches, and the local community. A+ for location! There is also a beautiful and expansive supermarket right under the hotel to get whatever culinary needs you require. We were upgraded to a balcony room as Bonvoy Titanium,.The price point of the Aloft was also a value, and it is a good bargain in using Marriott Bonvoy points. Javier that checked us in was lovely and gracious, and all staff were pleasant and professional. Aloft is an unusual hotel--one that wants to be a wanna-be hip W Hotel and also a Fairfield Inn for Gen Z'ers. It didn't do either very well, unfortunately. The staff wanted to do well, and perhaps there are still newly opened growing pains that will be worked out. Housekeeping was promised daily, but on 3 out of the 5 days we had to call Housekeeping after returning from the day;'s activities to service the room (which they did right away when called) but this was a big fail. The purified water dispenser in the nice gym was often empty. And generally the upkeep of the hotel is not or was not a priority. It's nice and new and ”hip looking” but metal surfaces and walls by the pool on the 4th floor are rusting already, and little bits of trash on the hallway carpeting remained for the 5 days which showed they didn't vacuum the common areas as often as should be. Room A/C and common area A./C were great! 4th floor pool has city and sea views in the distance and we could often see Cozumel and the cruise ships anchored there in the far distance on most days. I wanted the stay to be great, but it was good.

This was our second vacation trip to the Xcaret Mexico hotel. We really enjoyed the ”ALL fun inclusive” experience, with exclusive transportation and access to ALL Xcaret group parks. We were a family group of 5 rooms, with combination of adults, and adults/children in several of the rooms/suites. We had two concierge services representatives (K.C. and Laura), and they were very attentive and accommodating to our needs, requiring two suite changes to better suit our needs. They also helped us with the restaurants' and parks' reservations (for those which required it), and also with the wheel chair arrangements for my mother-in-law. The restaurants are big, and even though the hotel was fully occupied, we did not feel crowded or had to make lines to enter the restaurants. A most do is the Sunday brunch at the ”Las Cuevas” restaurant. Their meat and seafood offerings were way above what I was expecting, with even a Tuna processing experience made by the chef, ending in a delicious Tuna tartar appetizer. My wife is FULLY vegan (I am not), and we went to their vegan restaurant ”Bio”, and were able to taste almost ALL of their breakfast and lunch menu offerings, with every one having its own palate pleasing taste. Add to that their freshly pressed juices shots, and specialty frozen shakes. By the third day, Xiomara greeted us by our names, and waiter Edgar had known what we already tasted, and ”took care” of us. Kudos to both of them, for understanding and living a true ”costumer service”. This hotel is so well designed, that even there were live bands throughout the lobby and infinity pool areas, the volume was not overwhelming, and you can relax at another area, without it bothering you. Each restaurant had some special drinks, which you can enjoy, so make sure you ask the waiter for the ”special cocktail” of the day. We witnessed two ”destination weddings”, and the open area activities did no interfere with our time to enjoy the hotel amenities, so thank you for that. We even enjoyed another ”shot” of ”free” mariachi's songs while walking near them. On Sunday, we were able to enjoy catholic Sunday mass at the Xpiral chapel. All in all, my family and us had a blast, with ”not enough time” reviews from each and every one of them. We plan on coming back and visit some of the park attractions we did not have time to try, as well as enjoy again the amenities this hotel has to offer its guests. The weather was hot and humid, as it has been in every place in the world at this latitute. Be prepared and drink lots of water! ¡Muchas gracias por poner sus corazones al servicio de sus huéspedes! My husband and I visited Ki’Beach Bar frequently during our week long stay in Fairmont MayaKoba. Two of the staff that stand out for us were Alexander and Angel. They were both so attentive and friendly and couldn’t have done more for us. On our last day we were treated to a beautiful prawn taco lunch which was delicious! They were able to recommend beautiful cocktails which were served to us on our sun loungers. They are both a great asset to Ki’Bar. You will not be disappointed after a visit to this beach bar.

Really lovely stay with especially friendly staff in the restaurant. Gorgeous resort with two beaches and nice pools - the food at the hotel restaurant is excellent so we ate there happily every night.
