We stayed in a suite here for 4 nights and initially we were impressed with the hotel and services. This is a 5 star hotel, so you expect to pay ( and rightly so) a premium. We had dinner on several nights at the hotel, food and service were great. The concierge is awesome. However, here’s the sting…We had a deal which included breakfast. Due to a disability I have trouble with significant pain and stiffness in the mornings. The room service availability was a key factor when choosing the hotel. We therefore took breakfast in our room, rather than the restaurant. The offerings were similar in both, more varied/comprehensive if anything in the restaurant. We fully expected to pay a tray charge for the room service delivery . However, we were really surprised and very disappointed, that when we checked out, we had been charged over £200 for the breakfasts. It was explained, at that point, that as we had room service the breakfast was now chargeable and no longer included. I was flabbergasted, who wants to pay for something twice? ! This , in my opinion is totally unreasonable. I explained to several members of staff that this was not made clear at any point , I was basically called a liar. I have since taken this up with the hotel manager, to give them the opportunity to rectify the situation. It was not. I was told the breakfast was signed for, and that was that. Having spent 2k at the hotel, I am pretty disappointed at the hard line they have taken, over what clearly was a lack of communication and clarity on their part and am left feeling pretty aggrieved. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, based on their greed , inflexibility and lack of compassion around my circumstances. I certainly won’t be returning.
