Excellent service. People working there were always very helpful whenever assistance was needed. Food was tasty, and the room we booked (suite with swim out) was awesome. The place is very big, so be aware that there will be quite a bit of walking to get to the lobby (where most restaurants are). When getting ready to leave, you can ask for the bellboys to get the baggage with you back to the lobby in one of the golf cars that they use to move around.

Sunwing and the Royalton Punta Cana. Have been to this resort in the past it was excellent. Unfortunately not now. I will try to make a long list of disappointments short. We paid approximately 2800.00 Canadian per person and basically Sunwing the tour operator did not advise us that the resort was undergoing restoration. The restaurants are half open some of the time I believe this is due to the amount of staff left to cover what’s open. I can only say that we are lucky to have a Butler Noraya part of the Diamond club Staff that has been arranging our dinner reservations nightly and informing us of what’s open and what’s not. Noraya has made this whole stay bearable. I feel sorry for others that are not informed wandering around trying to find what’s open. The main buffet which is the best part of the restaurants is closed half the time and two of the restaurants included in the description of the resort is closed. Honestly you wait for over an hour for food and it’s only a menu with one page with the bare minimum of items. This is the worst vacation yet at a Royalton. The other part is the beach as there are a million people trying to sell you all kinds from jewelry to massages and hair braids lol. We are beach bums we just want to relax no be bothered every 15 min to buy something.The other thing is bacon you can get two strips of bacon in room service which also takes over 90 mins but there is no bacon anywhere in any of the restaurants?? When you ask they just shake their heads no. The room is clean and cool the housekeeping is great the drinks are everywhere. The pool is like a warm bath and not cleaned or refilled with water enough. In the past I would rate this place a 5 star but it’s a 3 now. We feel like we were lied to when we booked with sunwing the rep told us when we tried to book at the hideaway section Royalton Punta Cana that there was no availability until end of November but never said it was under renovation as we would have booked elsewhere. I feel that there were several people that came here and none that we spoke to were aware of the renovation and they were also dissatisfied. The coffee shop staff amazing but to get a cappuccino anywhere else other than the buffet you are asking the staff to go retrieve it somewhere so it’s a no. I also want to warn people that may be coming here that the ATMs don’t work you need to use the exchange desk that charges that charged a 30.00 exchange fee to use their credit card to get money. I think Sunwing should be responsible for a credit to the Customers that gave them lots of money for a resort that is not as promised in the description. This is fraudulent!! We will not be back at this resort again and will never book with Sunwing again. Those of you booked and stuck coming maybe call Sunwing and ask for discount and try to make the best of it as this was an Anniversary trip for us that we want to forget. Detailed review of our stay last week. We arrived on Sunday and left on Saturday afternoon. The resort almost felt empty during the week. We didnt notice the increased capacity until Friday. We were not diamond and didnt feel the upgrade was necessary. Everything was empty we still had concierge who booked all of our a la carte reservations etc. Problems: 1. One day the water went out in the resort from 6-10am so we couldn’t flush the toilets. Luckily we left for an excursion and it was fixed by the time we returned. 2. One day a random employee knocked on the door asking to come check random things out in our room. It was unsolicited and strange. I didnt like that. We hadnt reported anything wrong so asking to come in and check things out in the middle of our day as were resting seemed odd. The Food: The Selections buffet on the Splash side was closed all week so we had to take the trolley over to the Buffet at RPC for breakfast and dinner each day. Initially this was Frustrating to do for each meal but when Selections did open on Friday i was so happy we were not stuck with that option all week. It was NOTICEABLY disappointing. The food, the service and the cleanliness, EVERYTHING was 0/10. We didnt eat, we left and never returned. The 30 mins we were there we were seated at a dirty table. I had to ask for it to be cleaned and when it was cleaned the waitress attempted to pour us water into glasses that were already on the dirty table. She never returned for drink orders or anything else but after viewing the buffet conditions and options we left. The best meal we had was the Zen Teppanyaki Restaurant on the RPC side. We were not diamond so it was $15 per person and the best meal we had. The service, food quality and quantity 10/10. The Italian restaurant was the next best option but there is no AC in the Mexican or Italian restaurant so be prepared. The Sports bar at RPC also has good quick bites to eat that we often enjoyed. The room: We stayed in a family room and The room was just ok. It was clean and spacious enough for a family. A king bed with a bunk bed with a twin at the top and full on the bottom. We were in building 25 which is beside the lobby. There were no elevators which ****** but other than that it was fine. Could be updated but it was clean. The service: The service all over the resort was good except the Selections Buffet as mentioned . Everyone was friendly and willing to assist. We didnt have any issues until the last day we requested someone come help us with our luggage and they never showed up. There was service at the pool but not frequent. But they were nice and helpful when they did show up. The waterpark: The water park was nice but it does close rather early by 5pm. Its not huge but there are enough slides and a wave pool to keep kids entertained for a few hours. The bar here doesn’t serve alcohol fyi.
