The positives first: The hotel is not terrible. It was not our first choice, but we ended up booking here, as well as booking our friends we were meeting here and another couple joined us for one night and paid for a room. We alerted the manager and he put us all on the the same floor, with a lake view. The room was clean. A little tight on space, but this is not a negative. Staff were friendly. The negatives: NO HOT WATER!! We stayed for 4 nights. One person out of 6 had a hot shower, as he showered just after we arrived. That was the last hot shower. The water was progressively colder, each day. And it was the whole hotel. This was the topic of conversation with every other hotel guest we happened to meet in the lift. We complained, every day. At each stage, we were told they were... waiting for someone to turn up...the problem was fixed but because everyone kept using the water it could not warm up...the problem was not fixed, they were waiting for someone from somewhere else. I think they had no idea and I did feel sorry for the staff, but a hot shower is absolutely a basic requirement. At no stage was there a note slipped under the door to apologise and ask us to bear with them. It was incredibly frustrating. It seems petty after this to mention the bathrooms also need a bit of care and smell very mildewy, but if it were not for the hot water issue, this would have been my main complaint. The last thing to mention, it rained the whole time we were there and the Ibis has no lounge area. We ended up sitting in one of the rooms, as a group, having a natter, like high schoolers. This is more of a Rotorua problem, though, as Rotorua seemed to shut down early and there was no where to just chat, in the evenings. Ibis Rotorua is not somewhere we will stay again.

We just had an amazing 5 day stay! We had a family group of 8 (multi-generations) and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The cabins were perfect, with comfy beds, nice linen, small kitchen with all the essentials, and a bathroom. The communal areas were lovely and clean and well equipped. Nice communal lounge with a fire place. The big pool was heated and the thermal hot pools were awesome! Kids had fun on the trikes and the bouncing pillow. The staff were very helpful, the housekeeping staff were fantastic. Thanks Tasman Bay!

The place was nice, but not as exceptional as we expected by others reviews. Things are a little worn in the room we were in. In the morning my wife went to use the spa/hot tub and after filling it with water she turned it on and it spewed out extremely dirty water. Manager said it was because the hotel was old. I disagree. - it simply needed a better cleaning. Use bleach and fill, run and refill the hot tub until it comes out clean. It’s not rocket science. They don’t offer any kind of refund but they did offer us a couple of candy bars and an apology.

4 star Hotel. Should be 2 star, 3 if a pool is your thing. Not good all very tired and going down at heel. I realise that they are coming out of Covid, but it's the end of the summer season. A distinctly musty smell through out. Some sort of ceiling leak on the second floor with fans and dehumidifiers running. Low staffing so only breakfast available and that wasn't good. The room that we had was very tired. Mattresses and pillows the worst that we have had for a while very soft. No cover on the duvet. Aircon/ventilation machine very noisy. Carpet in some of the public areas worn and showing threads on the stairs.

First stay was 3 years ago when it was still a Holiday Inn. We enjoyed the pools and nearby attractions. Came back this time around for the same reasons. Kids enjoyed the heated pool. And we adults find it soothing after a long day out. When pool towels run out, reception was glad to replenish. We were at a deluxe queen queen room facing the carpark. Room looked tired. Bathroom was even worse. Mould on the grouting and sink had lime scale. Turning the tap was bound to give you a splash. Other than than, room was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. And doing the best they can on a busy long weekend. Carpark can get full on a busy weekend, you almost dont want to go out for dinner.

Got way more than we expected. My friend and I booked a dorm room for $35 per night each, and had it all to ourselves both night! It had a kitchen with everything you need to make and eat a meal and It had full bedding provided as well. All of the above we brought ourselves from home after reading online that they weren’t provided - so we were pleasantly surprised & very grateful. And the on-site hot pools free to guests were amazing after a long day. Centrally located (right across the road from Te Puia) friendly service. Even the showers were ‘free’ with removable shower heads which is important to me at least! Clean comfortable and highly recommended!

Newina is a medium sized hotel, located 5 minutes away from towns centre The manager was very helpful and had excellent knowledge of tourist attractions in the area. The room was spotlessly clean and we were delighted to see a private courtyard with a huge spa. There is also a swimming pool and small conference room. Full laundry facility located on the ground floor. Very affordable and we will definitely stay again

We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Lake top 10. Wish we had more time to stay and spend time there. We checked in a bit late and so didn’t get to enjoy the many amenities this place offers. It’s neat that they even have a little grocery shop to get some essentials for cooking. We also walked around the beautiful lake on the path right next to the camp grounds. The safari tent was my son’s favorite part and gave the camping experience but with much more comfort.

We came across this wonderful place by accident booking last minute during our travels in NZ, so lucky! and decided to book an extra night because we loved it so much! Danny and Mable are the loveliest hosts who helped us with our planning activities and spoiled us rotten. The breakfast is absolutely amazing: Mabel makes beautiful creations with fruit and delicious dishes with local products, avocado and flowers from her own garden. Their personal touch makes this B&B an absolute highlight and we definitely recommend to stay if given the chance. Many thanks!!
