We had a lovely weekend stay here in August as the perfect ‘kids are with the grandparents’ retreat. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning and the Amberley Suite with its four-poster bed, huge bathroom and powerful shower did not disappoint. Paul and Alan are excellent hosts and the nightcaps and breakfast were wonderful. We were seated with two other couples at breakfast, which would usually be something I would recoil from, as I am so far from being a morning person, but everyone was lovely and the conversation flowed easily, helped along no doubt by the bubbles, and it was a valuable opportunity to hear from them and our hosts about places to visit in the area. Hugs all round when we left! Thank you so much Paul and Alan for a great break x

Thank you to Paul and Alan for such a wonderful stay. Possibly the most beautiful residence in Rye and the most charming company. They pay such attention to detail, from a glass of wine on your arrival to discuss your stay, to a fabulous breakfast menu. The breakfast is way above the standard of usual bed and breakfast accommodation. Alan’s hollandaise sauce is a must, and Paul’s offer of bubbles at breakfast helps to kickstart the relaxation! Everything is meticulously clean and the views from our room were spectacular. Perfect location to visit Rye, and in walking distance of Rye Harbour and Camber Sands. A wonderful break away.

This place is a dream. Close enough to walk into town to enjoy Rye’s fine dining scene, without the hassle of parking. There are so many lovely extras…. Evening drinks, fine linens, parting gift…. But the hospitality of Paul & Alan is the real draw. They make you feel so welcome in their stunning home that enjoying THE BEST breakfast in all of England seems just a bonus.

I would like to highly recommend Saltcote Place. My husband and had a fabulous stay. Paul and Alan were great hosts and were very welcoming and incredibly helpful in suggesting places to visit in and around Rye. Our best hotel stay ever, amazing hosts - such lovely, genuine and interesting people, attention to detail second to none, beautiful grounds, spotless room, beautiful decor and the best breakfasts we have eaten in any hotel - ever! Brilliant for people with gluten allergies -the only place I have eaten a gluten free full English breakfast which didn't require substitutions or elements removed. High quality ingredients beautifully cooked and presented with great service. Can't recommend this place enough thank you Paul and Alan for a wonderful stay.

Although a little unusual in its style, Paul and Alan made sure that every need was catered for with humour and precision. The breakfasts were a triumph, set amidst the excellent traditional furniture and decorative features. The cleanliness was beyond reproach, with nothing too much trouble. There were even gifts of some garden seedlings to take home. Very well worth the stay.

I can honestly say I have after years of global travel never had an experience like the one on our four nights stay at Saltcote.Our hosts Paul & Alan were engaging interesting well informed & above all great fun.We were in Rye for the brilliant jazz festival & this stunning mansion beautifully restored & magnificently furnished was a revelation.The welcome was warm breakfast delightful & served in the charming kitchen at a long shared table.A favourite nighttime tipple appears like magic at the end of the day.lots of space to walk around both in the house or in the gentle green gardens.we are determined to repeat the experience soon.

Salcote is a beautiful lovingly restored Manor. Our host Paul greeted us warmly with a chilled wine, and told us all about Rye and its area,.our room was lovely, fresh flowers, fruit and a chocolate on our pillows, the fridge had bubbly and water chilling inside. Nice white dressing gowns laid out on the bed, and hot drinks also available. Our unobstructed view from the window stretched over the countryside. The serenity, peace and tranquility, was a welcoming break from the huddle bustle of everyday life. Our breakfasts, cooked by Alan, was outstanding, a wide range of choice, including more bubbly if wanted, A beautiful fresh fruit bowl to start, with lovely coffee made with a smile on top. The little finishing touches made our break all the more special, like the night cap at the end of the day. Paul and Alan are the most wonderful hosts, warm, friendly, informative and kind. We hope to return again in the future to this wonderful place.

We were lucky enough to spend three nights at the spectacular Saltcote Place. A truly beautiful house, immaculately kept rooms and stunning views, all just a short walk from Rye. We could not have been made to feel more welcome, Paul greeted us on arrival with a chilled glass of wine while he went through suggestions for our visit. A nightcap of our choice was provided on our return from dinner. In the morning a delicious breakfast was cooked by Alan. They were the best hosts and we so enjoyed our stay with them. Would not stay anywhere else…absolutely fabulous!
