Great welcome from a very knowledgeable host, combined with a masterclass cognac session.. Unfortunate not to get a room with the great views of the vineyards and unsure why this was the case as there appeared to be only one other couple staying. Our room was spacious and comfortable, although the stock photo and descriptions on the web site could lead to disappointment (no toiletries and no in room music/hifi) although this didn't affect our 1 night stay. Also unsure where the soft drink mini bar was located as indicated on the website. Website also needs to be updated as it has confusing information with regards what is included in the dinner option. For example Dinner within the website states: ”Dinner is served every day by reservation Adult The set menu includes 1 aperitif (choice between liquor of cognacs, cognac, pineau...) 3 dishes, local wine, coffee.” This is not the case. drinks are not included, and although it is mentioned on the tariff page it could missed and easily lead to disappointment and embarrassment at check out. The home cooked (with local ingredients) dinner in a stunning outside setting was lovely and tasty and knowledgeable conversation with Christine (who has fluent English) flowed as easy as the wine. Breakfast was a little disappointing during our stay and did not match reviews that we had previously read. It included a small breakfast roll, two confitures and butter. Fromage blanc (similar to yoghurt) and banana ( fruit option), although the Broyé du Poitou made up for a lack of croissants or pain au chocolate on offer during our stay. In summary, we enjoyed our day/evening combined with a cognac masterclass and tasting given by Christine's very knowledgeable husband. We would certainly consider returning if in the area again.

El hotel está en un parque comercial, cerca de las principales vías de comunicación. Esta situación es ventajosa para los que viajamos y hacemos parada en ruta. Tienes supermercados, restaurantes...cerca y no tardas mucho en meterte en las autopistas y circunvalación. Además se puede aparcar bien frente al hotel (parking propio) sin coste. Las habitaciones son de buen tamaño, están limpias y con todas las comodidades necesarias para la estancia. Las camas, bastante amplias, son cómodas. Además se nota que el hotel es bastante reciente, no se aprecian marcas de desgaste o se ve anticuado. Como curiosidad, en lugar de mesa y escritorio, tienen una especie de silla y mesa en uno. Es similar a lo que hay en algunas escuelas, pero su diseño te permite usarlo en la cama. La entrada de primeras a recepción, es incómoda para la gente con problemas de movilidad. Luego acabas viendo como se puede hacer con los ascensores. La wifi funciona bastante bien, a buena velocidad y estable. Tienen una piscina para huéspedes. El personal correcto y efectivo. Hay una chica en recepción que solo habla francés y lo hace a mucha velocidad, para los no nativos, nos cuesta seguirla. El que parecía director, también habla muy rápido, pero habla más idiomas, y al d**** cuenta, hablaba más despacio. El desayuno es bastante completo, en los hoteles franceses suele ser más limitado, pero en este caso era bastante completo: varios quesos, embutido, frutas, yogures, dulces y plato caliente (Bacon y huevos, que no suele ser tan habitual.)

Good location for visiting Cognac, Angoulême and environs. The hotel has views to the Charente river and beyond. You can visit the wild ”jardin respectueux” in front and reach the river on foot for pleasant promenades. The outdoor pool isn't heated, which would make it pleasant in the hotter months. In the price of the room, we were able to reserve an hour-long slot per day for the little spa with its hammam, sauna and jacuzzi. It could do with a revamp, as could the rooms, but the communal areas seem to have been renovated more recently. The set dinner menu at 33€ was excellent and the service from Thomas and his team was very good. The buffet breakfast was copious and was made up of a great deal of local, organic produce. High five for the scrambled eggs, which must have been made the traditional way over a bain-marie.
