I travelled to Worcester with my Husband and Mother, who required an 'accessible' room due to needing a wheelchair. On checking in we were given our room keys by the VERY helpful, polite and friendly reception staff. Throughout our stay this remained constant and their help and support was unwavering. I cannot fault the reception staff in ANY way. The 'accessible room' was not very accessible at all. Doors are not widened and the bathroom had a shower OVER a bath, which made it totally inaccessible! My room looked out onto the stairwell and lift shaft of the concrete multi-storey car park next door. I went to request a different room, which was given to me, no questions asked. On entering this room we found it to be full of other peoples possessions, and evidently already occupied!! I returned again to reception where profuse apologies were give (apparently the computer system was showing it was vacant) and I was given another room. This room looked out over the roof with the heating ducts and pipes. But I didn't want to go back yet again, so we stayed put. The rooms were clean but very basic (I know, its a Travelodge) but the communal area's were not. Corridors were littered with debris and dirt, as were the lifts (I say 'lifts' but only one was working the entire time) On three separate occasions when we left the hotel and returned, our key cards had stopped working for both rooms, and a further trip down to reception was needed. No explanation was available other than "The system is playing up" On the final time this happened I asked to speak to a duty manager, only to be informed that there was not a duty manager or supervisor on the premises, and they did not know when there would be one, as the previous manager had been suspended! Now on to breakfast........ We arrived for breakfast at 1000 on Saturday morning (breakfast is served until 1100) We had pre-paid the 'unlimited' breakfast which is marketed as a "Great breakfast on your doorstep" There were several dirty tables which had not been cleared, this despite a member of staff seemingly having been allocated to the room (which is a windowless box) but the member of staff seemed to be more interested in drinking cups of coffee and milk from the machine. And continually peering at the hot selection of food, but not changing anything, despite it all being about as appetising as prison food. The scrambled eggs had a crust on the top. The hash browns were soft and very greasy, and there was one slice of bread next to the toaster. The pancakes which feature heavily on the advertising, and look amazing, were not available and there were no croissants. To make matters even worse there was no ketchup or HP sauce (they had run out!) so the condiments served with breakfast were mayonnaise and vinegar (First-world problems, I know) At 1045 the member of staff began switching off the heated breakfast station and removing the cereals and various other items.
