★★★★★ BEST STAY EVER - STAFF MADE MY FATHER FEEL SAFE AND CARED FOR! My father traveled alone for this stay and was so impressed that he made me promise to write the best review I could. They were always on hand to help with anything he needed - booking taxis, suggesting suitable local restaurants that were easy to get to, and checking in on him daily to ensure he was doing well. He said he never felt alone or worried during his stay, which meant the world to our family. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet, but it’s the outstanding, personalized care from the staff that made this experience truly exceptional. He’s already planning his next trip back! Highly recommend for solo travelers, especially seniors - you couldn’t ask for better support and service.

I only spent 5 days at Roots, but I left the place with so many memories that it felt like much longer. The owners, Shuiku and XiaoXiao, are incredibly nice and welcoming: they helped me find a great surf coach, indicated where to get good food and where to surf the best waves (we even surfed together a few times!). They really made sure that everyone at the hostel had a good time: for Chinese New Year, we had a home cooked Chinese New Year dinner for friends and guests. It was lovely. I only speak a tiny bit of Chinese, but this was no problem, as both the owners and many of the guests spoke English. Finally, apart from the nice people, the hostel itself is very comfortable to stay at: it’s clean, in a calm location surrounded by rice fields and cute coffee shops, and only a 5-10min scooter ride to the beach. I hope I can make it back to Roots one day, I already miss it!

I came to Wanning with no expectations or plans, I was on a short layover in Hainan and decided to spend one night here. My stay even for one night was nothing short of amazing. The hosts Cicy and Jerry welcomed me upon arrival and made me feel right at home, the room was in pristine condition and felt very personalised and inviting. The place itself was nothing short of superb, but the real highlight was the hospitality offered by the hosts Cicy and Jerry. They knew I was staying only for one day, so they planned a full 1 day itinerary for my time here. I was given suggestions on activities in the surrounding area, and I was driven around by them to some authentic beatiful locations such as a coffee plantation and local restaurant. They made me feel like I was home away from home, even in a country that is so diffferent to my own (England). I can recommend anyone looking for a peaceful, romantic retreat in this area to come here, and I will certainly be coming back. Thankyou Cicy and Jerry.

The location was good, the traffic can be pretty bad at peak times coming on and off the island, the apartment has great views but it’s a little dated. We watched a movie and the TV started smoking, they removed it and left us with no TV, which was a little disappointing. Overall we had a nice time.

had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of everything, making it incredibly convenient to explore the area. The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and very comfortable. You can really tell that cleanliness and attention to detail are a top priority here. What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff. Every single person I encountered was kind, professional, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their level of service went above and beyond and made me feel genuinely welcomed. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a perfect combination of location, comfort, and outstanding hospitality!

Stay was great and I will tell you why! Location was great to surf and for some night life. Owner of apartment was so friendly and allowed us for a late checkout without any problem. She was also very attentive to any questions we had and helped a lot. Apartment is basic although had lovely views.

出門幾步就是海，看海很方便！！房間打掃得很乾凈，角落都沒有灰塵，床品也很整潔，床墊也很舒服。住着特別安心舒服！早餐是現做的三明治，新鮮又好吃～老闆人超好，家裡還有三衹可愛的狗狗！整體體驗感滿分，下次來還住這兒！

A perfect place to stay in Riyuewan Bay. Chuck and his lovely family are your caring hosts. The rooms are spacious, sparkling clean with a cosy matress. Everything you need is in walking distance. Especially for me, the surfrental right infront of the place, the surfspots around the corner. Chuck helps you to arrange everything. From surfboard, transport, travel recommendations. The vibe at Surfers Garden is chill and cool but a little bit too much. My room had no towels, no toilet paper. Cabinet to store my things in the shared room couldn’t lock. The room itself can’t lock from the outside as well and too often when I was looking for someone at the reception there were no one … When you finally catch someone to give you a towel, be aware that it’s a disposable towel. So better bring your own. In the morning, don’t hope to get a coffee at their bar before 9am or 10am. The whole place looks a bit messy and the reception space looks unfinished. Staff is friendly tho. The guesthouse is surrounded by many little shops and local restaurants. You can reach the Ri Yue Wan beach where you will find bar/coffee, clubs, shops, surfing clubs etc. in 15 min walking or 5min by e-bike. Ri Yue Wan beach area is definitely the place to be to enjoy a good “beach/surfer” vibe sipping a cocktail in front of the beach. At night, this place turn into a music festival area where everyone display live show music and DJ and expect fireworks on the beach almost every 15min. If you are looking for surfing club in this area, I would recommend to check Shaka surf club. Good service, good price, and so far the most professional to me at Ri Yue Wan.
