Spent a night at the Bell when I was attending a prog rock gig (Franck Carducci) at Rods place in the old rectory. Simple, straight forward accommodation, no bells and whistles (excuse the pun) but clean and comfortable room and facilities. Breakfast was outstanding (and free if you book directly with the hotel). Looking forward to my next visit.

This awful hotel was booked by our company for 1 night,, the place is near derelict, shower not working properly, plug sockets not functioning, decor is awful, no food, no bar, Nearest food 2 villages away unless we wanted local French restaurant, working away budget won’t unfortunately stretch to that, This hotel was about £70 for the night not including breakfast. In my opinion that was probably £50 too much. Absolute dump please avoid.

Stayed a night on business, Chris the owner was very friendly and we had a good chat about the old building and works planned. Yes it’s a old hotel but has character unlike so many modern box hotels. He was very welcoming and also provide a excellent take away lunch the next day as I had to leave before breakfast. I would recommend and stay again. I wish him all the best for the future and his plans and hope planning gets granted. So nice he doesn’t just want to pull it down!

We enjoyed a really nice stay last weekend. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet with ample room for us and our two children. We highly recommend the delicious breakfast. We were made to feel really welcome by the staff, particularly Chris (who spoilt the kids with chocolates and other treat) and Hollie the waitress. Its a shame the visit was so brief but we look forward to returning next time we visit the UK.

Sadly, on arrival this hotel did not match the photos on the website when booking. It is very tired and dated and in desperate need of an update. The front of house staff were very friendly and turns out are also the chef and bar staff on certain days, he cleaner was very friendly.

Charming hotel.. The hotel owner made myself, my brother, my mother and niece very welcome. Lovely clean bedrooms and probably the best burger I have ever eaten! Owner Chris was running the hotel singlehandedly including all the cooking. He joined us at the bar in the evening and I loved the banter and good conversation. Thankyou from Jason and family

We live several miles from here and thought we’d pop in for a drink on our way home ( about 9 pm on a Friday evening) we walked in through the side entrance and saw the owner sat in a chair over the other side of the room and was sternly told We are shut ! The group of four sat on a nearby table who were drinking looked incredibly embarrassed by the owners mannerism , we left and will definitely not be going there again ! We popped to the pub up the road who were so welcoming and lovely.

I AM DISGUSTED!! VILE BEHAVIOUR!! My husband and a small group of his friends decided to go here and the Wellesley was closed this evening and I got a phone call from my husband on his way home and he was SHOCKED. After him and his friends left after their meal, they stood by their trucks for a last quick chat and goodbye. The OWNER of this awful place then came outside to my husband and asked him what he was doing in his car park and confused my husband just laughed and then the owner walked away AND STUCK HIS MIDDLE FINGER UP AT MY HUSBAND, a paying customer!! I was so upset that I decided to ring this person and I got a very INSINCERE apology along with being laughed at. How can an establishment owner be so disrespectful!!? Go to the Wellesley, so much better!

The bell house is a fabulous old hotel in a stunning village… Chris the owner is a one off and lovey chap… the hotel is old so if you like the modern style it’s probably not for you…. The rooms are huge and very clean… the bed are comfortable and the bedding immaculate Breakfast is fantastic, I didn’t get the opportunity to eat there of an evening but if the breakfast was anything to go by I should imagine the restaurant meals are fabulous too.
