Résidences Village Montana by les Etincelles

We (2 adults & 2 teens) stayed in a 2 bed apartment opposite the main hotel just before Easter. Having read the reviews I wasn’t expecting great things but it was absolutely fine. Location was great, pretty much ski in / ski out and Spar supermarket very close. Apartment was clean and bedding and towels were all good. Kitchen is compact but had everything we needed and it was nice to have tea towel, dish clothes, bin bags, dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc provided. Shower was good and always plenty of hot water. Hairdryer provided too. As others have said the decor is perhaps a bit tired but it was functional. Our apartment was next to a road which was quite busy with uni students walking home in the early hours but it didn’t bother us. Reception were helpful in booking restaurants for us.

We were a group of 6 people who travelled to Tignes Le Lac for a week's skiing from March 9th to March 16th. We stayed in Residences Village Montana in apartment 3B in chalet Le Planton. The location was excellent close to all amenities and the slopes. Overall, the apartment experience did not meet our expectations. There was a really strong smell from 2 of the bathrooms which rendered them unusable. We complained in the hotel reception and twice they sent someone to try and address but made no real difference. There was also a very strong pungent odor in the ski locker room on the group floor. Also, the sink got blocked on the last day. Really felt like a drains issue in the building or at least that apartment. Upon leaving, we complained and sought some recognition in the form of a future discount / reduction in the price. The only offer we got was some potential discount based on a future booking but that would be based on what accommodation we might choose and availability of same. No offer of a discount code there and then which could be used anytime. Not great customer orientation .....

After 24h of traveling from cornwall to get to the Residencies Village Montana, all we wanted was a good nights sleep so we could enjoy our holiday. Unfortunately we were put in a room with completely unaccaplatble noise levels. I work in social housing and this room would be deemed uninhabitable by environmental health for intrusive noise late at night if it was one of our properties. The people above us were having a party and we were next to a lift which is incredibly loud at a very low frequency so would litteraly make the room shake! At around 1am I had enough so went to the reception to complain. The receptionist sugested I speak to them myself. I said that we dont speak the same language and they are clearly drunk so it was unlikely I would be able to comunicate with them. They said they would have a word with them but they clearly didnt as we were told they would do this the next day by another receptionist. After getting to sleep at around 3am we were woken at 8am by the lift, people walking upstairs in ski boots and loud talking. We then spoke with the inghams rep who was great and very understanding. They mentioned that the hotel usually doesnt use this room which made alot of sense as it is clearly uninhabitable. The hotel said we could move rooms, for a cost of €150! We had to move or go home as the noise was unbearable. We didnt get on the slopes atall on our first day, instead had to spend the fi day trying to sleep in the middle of the day as the lift was being used less then. We spent another night in the room dealing with the noise all day and night. I had to complain to reception aboout the people upstairs again at 11pm for shouting and screaming, they still made alot of noise after that so I dont belive anything was done. The lift noise was still unbearable much later. Do not book with this hotel. If you have a serious issue that is their responibility they will charge you to rectify it! This is extortion by definition as we had a choice between paying them or going home and abandoning our holiday, the noise really is that bad.

Great location very close the ski lifts and a SPAR supermarket in the building, close to the Lagoon pool. The apartments was ok with a lot of light, showers and water ok. The rooms average in size and the cleaning was not super. There was not sufficient kitchenware (a good cooking pot or knives were missing as well champagne glasses) and the lamp above the table was not hanging at the right location, as all of us bumped our heads. We didn't get a towel change in the middle of the week and also no wood bag in the start. Adding some clothing hooks would be welcome for skiers. The building itself could us an update in painting.

The apartment was spacious but rather tired compared to Val Thorens. The location was good and central. The kitchenette was poorly equipped, the shower did not drain. Boot room and skiing from there was great. Reception and admin were very helpful always

Ski in and ski out is great & staff v helpful - but apartment is quite small for 4 adults and the kitchen is tiny & poorly equipped - so self catering is very challenging. The bed mattresses and pillows need renewing as they were hard & lumpy so we had poor sleep - not good. All 30 years old with no refurbishment, despite some photos of modernisation that were misleading. Wouldn't go back at that price.

Apartment block is very tired everything was grubby and lacked any kind of appeal. Lobby area was very dingy although that said it isn’t like we spent any time in it but walking in to it wasn’t the best first impression. The apartment was wiped over but the lights, radiators, edges of rooms were dirty and dusty. I can only imagine the 4 stars are awarded due to the hotel’s facilities which you can use for a cost. Ski in ski out good and the apartments are ok but don’t expect any sort of luxury it is basic but functional.

Ski in and ski out and with ski hire place on the premises, it could not be more convenient. A tea towel is not provided but everything else was. When the ‘Get Transfer’ private hire vehicle failed to collect us at Geneva Airport and failed to provide a driver nor a vehicle a week later to take us back to the airport, the receptionist was outstanding in finding us transport (‘Altibus’) at short notice and they were very reliable. All in all, a great apartment and very convenient. And you can’t lose with ‘snow sure’ Tignes.

We stayed in the chalets, which have not been updated in years. The equipment contained within the flat is very basic. Given the price it would be nice to have decent wifi, better equipped kitchen (nespresso machine, better pots and pans, wooden spoon, comfortable sofa) and updated decor throughout. Overall a very good place to stay though.
