It was truly one of my best trips and it was only because of this hotel, everything was really wonderful and my wife and I were surprised by the hospitality of the staff and the beautiful atmosphere of the hotel. We strongly suggest that you stay in grand hotel even for one night .(:

This was the most perfectly located hotel for our quick weekend trip to York. The hotel staff were very helpful and welcoming and let us leave our bags there prior to checking in whilst we explored the city and same on the way back. The room was the deluxe king and it was a great size for the two of us. Only two downsides would be the bathroom was a little small, the sink was quite low and small so you just have to be a little careful not to get water everywhere when using it & the tv wasn’t a smart tv so you were limited to a few channels.. luckily we could enjoy the World Cup though! :) Bar that, the stay was quiet, 10 mins walk from the shambles and within easy reach of York’s famous landmarks and attractions. I would definitely recommend staying here! Thank you for a wonderful stay Doubletree York.

We had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us.

We were booked at 14:30 on Christmas day and were we all really looking forward. Our expectations were more than met, the decor and ambiance are really inviting and atmospheric and perfect for a Christmas dinner in York. We were greeted at the door and seated straight to our table, the staff from the off were extremely pleasant and very friendly. We had canapes of KFP ( Kentucky fried partridge ), pigs in blankets and mackerel puree. Then we all opted for a classic Christmas turkey dinner which was cooked to perfection. Then there was the dessert course. Well by this time we had to ask for our petite fours to be boxed up because we were done. It was flawless from start to finish, we weren't rushed and couldn't have been ,made to feel more welcome! If your thinking of booking Christmas 2024 you wont be disappointed if they keep up these high standards. Thank you to The Fat Badger York from my family to yours.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay in a central location. We were in the romantic room and it was so lovely and cosy, it also had a little view of York Minster. Breakfast was included and was delicious and fresh. We also shared the stargrazing menu in the garden - would absolutely recommend this for a cute date night. Staff were also super friendly and attentive. All in all a fabulous experience and great value for money. Thank you so much - we’ll be back!

We booked 2 nights for new year !! Very old building which we enjoy staying these type of properties Scott the owner very welcoming both Claire’s was very friendly and helpful As was the rest off the team Couldn’t fault our stay Live band what the duck ! Was brilliant Saturday night and New Year’s Eve was karaoke again brilliant night Bedrooms was clean bed was comfortable Breakfast was lovely and big ! Stayed for a night in February with my wife, 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter. Definitely a 4* star plus apartment but on checking out in a heavy rainstorm, reception would only look after our luggage pre train at £3 an item including my kids school rucksacks for their day trip i.e. not just the big suitcases! Reasoning by reception staff that this was at managers discretion and they were not a hotel. This rang as hollow as the York Minister’s bells, was not dealt with particularly courteously and meant our last interaction with the staff and lasting impression was one of annoyance at the financial opportunism. Appreciate you can’t buy a coffee for £3 these days but it’s the principle! Still lots of pros to staying here 1) fantastic location a stone’s throw from Minster 2) lot of space for the 4 of us 3) modern amenities inc good shower 4) well insulated and warm with modern heating system 5) old sloping floor does give it a quirky charm. Cons- sloping foor and average bed mattress does make you feel like you might roll out of bed at any moment.
