The trip to Yosemite was special and the Ahwahnee is located perfectly.

We stayed in The Diggins Suite. The hotel location is excellent but as everyone has said, the construction is disappointing. Our room was nice ( factoring in that the hotel is over 100 years old) . The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large and we enjoyed the jetted tub. Liked the history of the room and hotel. The Tavern was good ( pretzel appetizer was good). The staff was friendly. I liked that we could hop on the shuttle right out front. Bring bug spray for the mosquitos. We also brought our own food and snacks with a car refrigerator so we did not have to mess around with the buffet. Also bought sandwiches in Yosemite Village. The valet is $30/day and there is no self parking. Usually, you would be able to hear the piano music from the dining room in this suite but they were not playing when we stayed here. I had to book this room on the first day reservations were available. The view from this room is of the Royal Arches if you look up. Just don't look down and see the air conditioning unit on the roof of the first floor.

this was my first time to the hotel and it is truly a lovely property. i was impressed by the rooms and how well they were kept, cleaned and presented. nothing against the hotel doing the best you could but the buffett is not my preferred type of meal service but i understand the needed updates being made. Also the bar was only opened the first night of our stay i would have like to have had a meal there but it was not available. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedicated staff. the one thing i read in reviews that certainly was not true was that of inattentive, and lack of care in the crew in restaurants and shops. they were all as kind and help ful as possible.

Overpriced for a hotel with non functioning internet. The dinner was a tasteless buffet. At the $75 breakfast for a couple toast was unavailable. The location is excellent which is why they get away with these prices but for lumpy beds and worn out carpeting one really has to wonder

The hotel is very tired and dirty looking. The service is nonexistent. We returned to the hotel after 1 pm and saw a housekeeper next door. I told her my room hadn’t been cleaned. She said it wasn’t her room. We came back at 4pm to relax before dinner. At 4:08 a housekeeper showed up. I asked if she could come back when we left for dinner. She said she was off at 5. At $695 per night inexcusable. The food in the dining hall was a buffet and it was cold. Celebrating our 45th anniversary, so very disappointing. We had a very sweet server though named Justice and LaDonna.

If my room had been in a roadside motel along an interstate, it would get a higher rating. But for $600 or $700 a night, I want a room I actually want to be in. The Ahwahnee has that old time ambiance, including a musty room smell, which reminded me of the days when cigarette smoking was permitted. We were fortunate to have adjoining rooms on both sides! We could hear the conversations in both rooms, although one person was a morning phone call person, the other side was a night time talk about your day person. The WiFi is not good. It is weak and drops. The TV has local channels. So bring a book and deck of cards. The bathroom shower tile is moldy. The best way to experience the Ahwahnee is to walk through the lobby, which seems to still be in good shape. No need to go upstairs.

We splurged and decided to say at The Ahwahnee for 4 days last week. It was a great location, but that is not worth the $700 per night charge. Almost everything about this hotel is not up to par. 1. The staff at the front desk, the concierge, the bar etc have a very " don't bother me" attitude. The valet folks were good. 2. Our phone didn't work for most of the stay. 3. Housekeeping didn't clean our room or leave fresh towels. 4. Our bathtub and sink were clogged and wouldn't drain. 5. The $63 charge for a "Golden Corral " buffet was absurd. 6.Public bathrooms were dirty. 7. The water coolers in the lobby were empty most of the time. There are more areas for improvement, but I get the feeling that the management really doesn't care because the location sells out the property most weeks. There is an obvious lack of pride which is a shame because it is a beautiful property in a majestic location. The experience didn't ruin our wedding anniversary celebration, but you missed the opportunity to enhance it. We won't be back but I really don't think you care. Some things are unavoidable with an older property, but everyone makes the choice to be helpful, kind, and professional.

Like other reviews - it was a bit of a let down. And a rather expensive one. We stayed in the cabins - pretty basic. They did have TV - limited channels But dragging your luggage out a gravel path was not luxury as promised. Don’t stay because; No internet - as promised Rude front desk staff - worn out with people asking about internet Can’t self park - a total surprise plus parking fee Expensive dining Stay because : Its location In Yosemite- nothing like waking up to the views and taking off to the falls as the sun hits the granite splendor. Dining room views……spectacular! It was a grand hotel and worth a visit -Teddy Roosevelt and the queen were guests here. It’s a bucket list experience- but do manage expectations. Once us enough we are thinking.

Yes, I was aware of ongoing construction, to retrofit the building for earthquakes. I received emails from the hotel explaining that construction noise would be limited to M-TH from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Not so! We stayed there W thru SN. Every morning we were awakened by hammering and back up beeping of tractors, sometimes sounding like it was right outside our room. Especially disappointing on Sat. and Sun. AM. No one wants to hear that at 7:00 AM! So they lied in the email. We stayed in the Tresidder room, which was very spacious and special. The room staff were all great; there was even a nice welcoming cheese and meat tray when we arrived. With all the construction going on, the hotel only offers buffet service, which we tried once and then found other food options. $65 pp buffet was over priced and disappointing. I recommend waiting until construction is finished before making a reservation there!
