Beautiful hotel and very nice service but for the price you expect a bit of luxury experience. They push a bit to buy spa package or day trip package, I feel it’s not very elegant.. but overall it’s a nice place.

I'm just home from this lovely hotel and can honestly say it is one of the best holidays I have had. I cannot fault a thing about it. From the minute we arrived at the hotel the staff were just amazing. The reception staff are so efficient and welcoming. Check in was seamless. We were late arriving at the hotel at about 10pm and the restaurant was kept open so that we could enjoy a hot meal. A welcome drink was also provided. The room we had was spacious with a balcony. It had a shower and bath and very comfortable beds with lovely crisp fresh white sheets. The entire hotel is so clean. Every area we saw was pristine. Our rooms were cleaned daily and we were given fresh towels in the evening if required. A huge shout out and thank you to the housekeeping team. They do an amazing job and were always so friendly and helpful. If you needed anything they were always happy to help. The food is buffet style. We were half board. At breakfast there was a large selection of food items to choose from and I noticed they also catered for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. We enjoyed having our breakfast each day in the covered outside area of the restaurant which overlooks the swimming pools and gardens. The staff in the restaurant were also so welcoming and friendly from the Management to the chefs, waitresses and waiters. They work hard and again are always happy to help. 5 stars from me for Service. We also enjoyed the Evenings meals and again a good selection was on offer. The pool bar staff were excellent too. They were very attentive and always happy to help. Nothing was too much trouble. They were great at making pina coladas too which were a daily treat and made to perfection! Thank you to all of them. The grounds and pool areas are immaculate and very well maintained. I think they have the cleanest swimming pools I've seen in a long time. The water was cold when you first went in for a swim but after a few minutes swimming it was lovely and fresh and good to cool down in as the temperature rose. They have a family pool and an adults only pool which was a great idea. The pool bar and seating are us in the middle. Thank you to the really friendly gardeners too for doing a great job. The grounds have lots of lovely flowers and trees which are well cared for. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the start of the town area where there is a good choice of restaurants, bars and shops. It still retains the Greek village feel about it which is lovely. The Greek people were so friendly and welcoming everywhere we went. Checkout was also seamless. Again we had a late flight home and the hotel were able to accommodate us by allowing us to keep our room until 5:30pm . We were very grateful for this as it was heavy rain on our last day. We have been to Kalamaki many times over the years, and have walked passed the Athina Apartments on our visits, so we took the plunge and booked to stay here for 9 nights from the 8th September. The apartments are ideally located. They literally back onto the main ***** in Kalamaki, and are a few minutes walk from the main Kalamaki beach. We stayed in a top floor room, overlooking the pool. The view was great, and lovelly to wake up to in the morning or to enjoy of an evening before venturing out. Because we faced away from the main *****, we did not hear it at all. The rooms are basic, and could do with a little spruce up, but they are clean and comfortable, so that's what is most important. If you are looking to cook in the room, the cooking facilities consist of 2 hot rings and that's it. There is no oven or even a microwave. So you may struggle. But if like us, the only thing we cooked in the room was some toast for breakfast (yes there is a toaster and a kettle) then its fine. The pool area has been recently installed / renovated. Its is a lovely area, however during our entire stay, we did not see any member of staff tidy up the area at all, not even straighten the sun beds at the end of the day. When we had finished using the beds, we always tidied up after ourselves, and straighten the beds up etc, but not everyone did. So the pool area tends to look very untidy at the end of the day, which is such a shame, as it looks very tranquil in the evening, so it would be nice if it looked neat too :-) There is no lift in the hotel, so if you have struggle walking up flights of stairs, we would suggest opting for a ground floor apartment. However these do open up right onto the pool area so privacy will be a factor. The staff were great, and were always at hand should you need them. Would we stay again? Of course we would! In fact we have already booked to return again next September!!

Paid 50 euro for a transfer from the airport, but the transfer never showed up. We called the hotel and they said the transfer was on the way. After about 20 minutes in record heat, we chose our own cab and paid 20 euro to go to the hotel. We requested a refund on the airport transfer, but the hotel staff declined. Instead they asked for a taxi receipt to prove we paid for a cab. Seriously? I recommend not questioning your guests' integrity. Our room seemed more or less clean, but not going to win awards in that area. Also, there was a large chair missing one of the four feet, so it constantly wobbled. We did not bother to tell the hotel staff about this, as they were generally unwelcoming and we did not expect any resolution. Cut our trip short and went to another hotel.

Wij hebben hier een week gezeten eind augustus. We werden hartelijk verwelkomd aan de receptie en konden gelijk, om 10.30, in onze kamer! Na het lezen van de recensies op tripadvisor was ik toch wat zenuwachtig geworden. Wij hadden de private pool suite geboekt, wat een geweldige kamer! Erg ruim en een prachtig uitzicht over Zante Town en de haven. Het terras met zwembad was ook perfect! Niks was teveel gevraagd in het hotel, een extra laken, extra handdoek, alles werd direct geregeld. De kamer werd elke dag netjes schoongemaakt en om de dag nieuwe handdoeken. Ook speciale voor aan het zwembad. Het ontbijt had niet veel variatie maar was prima, wij hebben hier een aantal dagen ontbeten en de overige dagen zijn we naar Tsvilli gereden. De algemene ervaring in Avalan Palace was perfect! Ik zou er zo weer naartoe gaan.

A Lovely Greek Family Independent Hotel, which Does Not have Tennis (or Crazy Golf) ! I will write this from the perspective of someone not expecting to play a few sets of tennis in the morning (misdescription of facilities not hotels fault) before a hard day of Rest and Relaxation. It was The Best check in arrival I have ever experienced _ got sat down, watered with welcome drink, and the usual local documentation was dealt with in a relaxed yet attentive way. Due to the room booking pattern we were offered an upgraded room gratis for first few days, if we didn’t mind moving mid week, which worked out great. Hopefully pics attached if I manage it ! The room was very well equipped, spacey and like everything in the hotel, very comfortable. The beds and loungers are the good quality sort where you do not notice you are not in your usual bed, so great _ The owner was around through large parts of the day, now retired, while other family members and the on the ball staff take care of operations. It was very nice to have many short conversations with ever watchful Mr Spiros, a very interesting person to speak with (and very sharp minded, Very Perceptive, and humorous) I noticed on the comprehensive information board a sunset hike trip, with a local guide the hotel recommends. It was fantastic, and many other hikes and walks are available too. I recommend anyone active to take a hiking trip with the hotels recommended guide during their stay. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of Cameo Island and it’s famous rope bridge. On the other side of the hotel is the party ***** for the brave, the young and the adventurous. Walking distance, but far enough away you’d never know it was there if you didn’t want to. From talking to locals the ***** is really active June July August, where I gather it can be a bit lively. We took a boat trip around the island, again booked via hotel, with easy collection and transportation to local main harbour. On reflection a shorter trip from the boat hires around Cameo Island may have been enough, rather than the around the entire island. It was 35 euros for the full round island trip, great value for money. When the reception team say ‘we can make you a packed lunch if you’d like’ this actually means ‘you’re three or four hour trip will be 5 or six hours and you will arrive back when service is over’ This is a ’tip’ and it’s well taking up the lunchbox out option if going on a trip, hike, day exploring etc. The food was great, Very Good to Excellent, large choice, dietary considerations, lots of veg and vegan options, lots of labels, a willingness to check ingredients if asked. Top Marks. Staff friendly, warm, welcoming, and very good at matching customer requirements (so formal if guests treated them formally, fun if guests were fun, and always attentive to service) I would go as far as to say there are some special ones. The hotel is right on the sandy beach with pool, bar and restaurant overlooking the sea. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food varied and delicious. The hotel was clean and well looked after and our room had a small side sea view balcony. The pool was not large but always kept clean and there were leisure facilities available as well as unpowered water sport kit (paddle boards, windsurf boards etc.) I would class it as a 'boutique hotel' as it is small and customer service orientated and was as good as the pictures shown and worthy of its star rating.
