"I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel and felt so comfortable that I stayed more in my room than visiting the city ! At my checkin the receptionist saw I am a cyclist and he immediately suggested that I leave my bike in the luggage area, without having to request, which is exceptional when you travel by bicycle. First impression are lasting impressions… thank you to housekeeping as well for their great attention to guest needs and to details."

"It was a wonderful stay. The hotel management was excellent, and the room was in great condition. I want to give a special mention to Miss Gotanda 五反田, who guided me after check-in. Her detailed explanations and warm smile set a positive tone even before I checked in. The hotel's hot spring overlooks Sakurajima volcano, enjoy hot spring while watching the sunrise was a truly delightful experience. I will definitely come back again next time."

"Art Hotel Kagoshima offers a very positive stay overall, largely thanks to its outstanding staff, who consistently went out of their way to assist and make guests feel welcome. I strongly recommend requesting a room with a view of Sakurajima—one of Japan’s most active volcanoes—as waking up to this dramatic landscape is truly priceless. The hotel’s location is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby bus routes. While the rooms are comfortable, the building is clearly dated and would benefit from significant renovations to better match the quality of service."

"Recently stayed at JR Kyushu Hotel Kagoshima and really enjoyed the stay. The location is unbeatable, it is directly connected to Kagoshima-Chuo Station, with an entrance right after exiting the Shinkansen or local train gates.
The room was surprisingly spacious. We could open two large suitcases, one medium, and two cabin bags at the same time and still have space to move around comfortably, which is quite rare for hotels in Japan.
The hotel is also next to AMU Plaza Kagoshima, so there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.
Overall, a very convenient hotel and a great choice for travelers visiting Kagoshima."

"This is a very nice hotel close to Kagoshimachuo station. It is convenient location for taking the Shinkansen and other trains. It is also a short walk or tram journey into Tenmonkan or the port area
The room is a good size clean and you can choose a room with a magnificent view of Sakurajima
Cleaning is done every two days but you can leave a sticker on your door and they will clean if you wish on off days
The bathroom is the biggest I have seen in Japan very modern and nice to use
Staff are very friendly and helpful. If I would visit Kagoshima again I would like to stay here"

"We had an amazing stay at this hotel and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The value for money is outstanding—everything you get here easily exceeds the price. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very pleasant to stay in, making it a great place to relax after a long day.
The service was exceptional. The staff were always willing to help with anything we needed, no matter what it was, and they were consistently super kind, polite, and welcoming. You can really feel that they care about the guests.
The location is perfect, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, making it very easy to get anywhere in the city quickly and efficiently.

SSeng Hock ChangRichmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel.
They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient.
It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking.
Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.

We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down.
Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find.
Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly, it's impeccable!

Everything was thought out to the last detail, even the tea and coffee set featuring local teas set the mood for rest and relaxation in such a wonderful place. Breakfasts and dinners were on par with the best restaurants, with sushi and wagyu available every evening. The lounge bar delighted us with interesting cocktails, and the onsen with its ocean view allowed us to truly enjoy the trip.

Even though we dont speak Japanese, communication was possible. Some people of the staff also spoke English.

GGuest UserWe stayed here to celebrate after recovering from a serious illness. Even though we checked in early because my father wasn't feeling well, they allowed us to enter the room early and were very kind and helpful. The welcome drinks and sweets were a welcome respite. The food was also well-prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious. Above all, the kindness and politeness of the staff made us feel very welcome. If I were to be picky, I would say that there should have been a ramp on the stairs to the bath, and that the toilet in our room was a little small and difficult to use. Everyone was able to relax and we left feeling very refreshed. Thank you very much.

I booked a twin room, and as expected for a Japanese business hotel, it was small. I had to open my suitcase near the entrance as there wasn't a separate luggage rack.
On the second floor, there's a reception area where you can enjoy unlimited coffee and other drinks. While the amenities aren't extensive, they are well-stocked at the reception.
There's also a gym, and the breakfast restaurant offers a fantastic view, especially for catching the sunrise over Sakurajima in the morning.

MMmm1dThis Sheraton exceeded my expectations with its incredible value for money! I enjoyed my stay so much that I extended it by an extra day. The hotel's decor is newer and more stylish than typical Sheratons, and I really liked the color scheme. As someone with a bit of a germ phobia, I felt completely at ease because it was so impeccably clean. The hotel's hot spring was also a great bonus. There's a large supermarket right downstairs, and the rooftop bar offers fantastic views of the volcano. They also provide a shuttle bus service to Kagoshima Station, and there's a tram stop right outside the hotel. So convenient!

As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are spotless and well-equipped, truly embodying the consistent cleanliness and thoughtful design characteristic of Japanese hotels. Enjoying the breakfast buffet in the morning, featuring dishes prepared with local Kagoshima ingredients, was a highlight. In particular, getting to savor the traditional and delicious 'chicken rice' made with rich chicken broth was a fantastic way to energize for the day's adventures. From check-in to check-out, the hotel staff consistently displayed professional and warm hospitality, making the entire stay incredibly comfortable and relaxing. Even as just a stop along my journey, it provided a level of comfort and convenience that far exceeded my expectations.
