The Great Wall, one of the five greatest ancient engineering marvels, is listed as the foremost of the New Seven Wonders of the World. For thousands of years, it has quietly clung to the undulating mountains, like a sleeping giant dragon, guarding the land it embraces. The brutal cruelty of wars that people cannot experience has long settled in the river of time, leaving only the mottled walls that imprint the scenes of smoke and swords behind the history. When touching the uneven brick walls and seeing the marks left by swords and axes, later generations seem to see the dreams of golden spears and iron horses crossing frozen rivers in the setting sun.
