Recently, I visited it on a particularly rainy day and found it to be a different experience compared to sunny days. Whether you are a scenery enthusiast or a photographer, I highly recommend it. 💛The Great Wall in the rain is shrouded in mist, winding through the valleys. The color of the structure contrasts sharply with the lush green of summer, making it highly recognizable. Whether you are taking photos on the wall or on the adjacent stair paths, you can feel this contrast. 💛Although there are still many tourists, I find that the colorful umbrellas or raincoats of the visitors add a lively touch to the scene, rather than making it dull. 📍Make sure to check whether you are taking the north or south route. The former is the classic route and the one most people take because it reaches the highest point. 📍The most convenient and quickest way to tour here is to take the ground or aerial cable car to the high point and then walk down. This is the safest and fastest way, and it takes at least 2-3 hours to walk and take photos. 📍Walking down from the high enemy tower on the north side, there are two or three enemy towers that are quite steep. Be especially careful of slippery roads on rainy days. I personally suggest taking photos as you walk and resting when you are tired. Stay away from the metal railings to avoid staining your clothes, which can be a bit frustrating. 📍Badaling Great Wall is a well-known scenic spot with many facilities, so there is no need to worry about food and drink. There are small shops at regular intervals, so there is no need to carry too much food. 📍When taking photos in the rain, the first priority is to protect your equipment from getting wet or damaged. Handheld phone photography might be more convenient than using a camera, as the latter requires both hands, making it difficult to hold an umbrella. Secondly, try to use curved compositions to add layers to your photos. 📍There are many ways to highlight the sense of layering. To retain details, common HDR post-processing might be needed due to insufficient light, which helps with dark areas. 📍During the summer vacation period, there are many tourists, so it is advisable to choose suitable transportation in advance. I recommend buying high-speed train tickets early or driving yourself. The former allows for standby operations, increasing the chances of getting a ticket. Other methods are more susceptible to weather conditions, which could delay your trip.
