Chengmai Damei Ancient Village, Hainan.

Damei Village in Chengmai is a historic village known for its well-preserved Ming Dynasty stone houses. The village's history can be traced back to the third year of the Yuan Dynasty (1335), when it was moved to its current location by Wang Wugong, the seventh-generation descendant of Wang Xun. The village is best known for its stone houses, with more than 210 "one-room, three-grid, ten-pillar" stone houses built from volcanic rock, accounting for 75% of the existing residential buildings. Among them, 12 stone houses are exquisitely crafted, with the four walls of the stone houses all made of larger volcanic rock squares, and the outward-facing side of the squares are all finely carved. These stone houses were built in the Ming Dynasty and have been well preserved for hundreds of years, making them a major feature of Damei Village. In addition to the ancient buildings, Damei Village also has a rich history and culture. The Wang Clan Ancestral Hall in the village is a representative of the ancient buildings in the village. It was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1522-1566) and has a history of more than 400 years. On May 10, 2006, the Damei Wang Clan Ancestral Hall was designated as a county-level key cultural relic protection unit by the Chengmai County Government. In addition, there are other ancient buildings in the village, such as the former residence of Wang Zanxiang, a Ming Dynasty scholar, the Neishi Fang, the Neishi Stele, as well as the General's Temple, Damei She Xue, and Wenchang Pavilion, all of which showcase the village's profound historical and cultural heritage. The ancient houses in Damei Village are key cultural relics protection units in Hainan Province, and Damei Village is listed in the third batch of traditional Chinese villages.
