Kusatsu Onsen, celebrated in the famous folk song 'Kusatsu Bushi' with the lyrics 'Kusatsu is a great place, come visit at least once,' has long been known for its therapeutic hot springs. It is said that there is no illness it cannot cure, except for lovesickness. The hot spring sources in Kusatsu range from 50°C to 90°C, making the water too hot to enter directly. Therefore, the water is cooled by exposing it to the air at the 'Yubatake,' the symbol of Kusatsu Onsen, before being distributed to various inns in the area. The famous 'Yumomi' performance, a traditional method of cooling the hot spring water, is also conducted for this purpose. The hot spring water in Kusatsu is highly recommended as it leaves your skin feeling smooth after a bath.
