Kusatsu Onsen

Kusatsu Onsen is one of Japan's most famous hot springs, located in Kusatsu Town, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture. Known as one of Japan's three most famous hot springs, it ranks alongside Arima Onsen (Hyogo Prefecture) and Gero Onsen (Gifu Prefecture). Kusatsu Onsen is famous for its strong acidic water and abundant hot spring water volume. It is believed to have high therapeutic benefits and attracts many tourists year-round for bathing and sightseeing. Features of Kusatsu Onsen Strong Acidic Hot Spring with Remarkable Therapeutic Effects • Kusatsu Onsen's water is classified as a "strong acidic sulfur spring" with a pH of approximately 2.1. It is said to be effective in killing bacteria, improving skin diseases, and promoting blood circulation. • Legend has it that the doctors of the Tokugawa Shogunate recorded Kusatsu Onsen as having "unparalleled therapeutic effects." Yubatake is the symbol of Kusatsu Onsen, located in the center of the hot spring town. It is a set of wooden hot spring water flow facilities. • Over 4,000 liters of hot spring water gush out every minute, flowing through wooden troughs to cool down before being distributed to major hot spring hotels and public bathhouses. • At night, the area is illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere.
