Sri Maha Pho Temple

Wat Sri Maha Pho, Nakhon Pathom Province 👍It is an ancient temple built since the Ayutthaya period. In the past, there was a Bodhi tree floating against the current of Khlong Bang Phra, so the Bodhi tree was brought up and planted in this area. And because there was a reclining Buddha image under the Bodhi tree, the Buddha image was invited to be enshrined and the temple was established under the name "Wat Sri Maha Pho". 🙏 The old temple is assumed to have been built in the middle of the Ayutthaya period. The Buddha image, which is the principal Buddha image in the temple, is called "Luang Pho Takosi" in the meditation posture, made of red sandstone. 🍁 The reclining Buddha image that floats with the Bodhi tree. At night, villagers walking past the back of the temple saw a round light shining down on the reclining Buddha image. Villagers often saw it, so they called it "Luang Pho Daeng Kaisit". Later, the temple built a large reclining Buddha image and enshrined a small Luang Pho Daeng image inside the large one in the Luang Pho Daeng Kaisit shrine. 🎋The golden standing Guanyin Bodhisattva is cast from metal and is 11.9 meters high. It is located above the meditation building. Inside the meditation building, there is a large hall where the Guanyin Bodhisattva is enshrined in the Mahakarunadharn or Thousand-Hand posture.
