Experience the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Xinjiang

Picture one shows a standard itinerary around Kashgar (hand-drawn by a friend's child ). The left route lets you experience the harsh, barren, high-altitude lakes and towering snow-capped mountains of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Tashkurgan County is not very high in altitude and is a very clean county. Now, there are new upgraded hotels like Home Inn, but when we went, we could only stay in the old traditional two or three-star hotels. Don't worry too much about altitude sickness; just remember not to eat too much or drink too much alcohol, and you should be fine. However, it gets very cold in the hotels at night, and it's cool in the mornings and evenings. By the way, even if you do get altitude sickness, don't worry; the hotels have oxygen machines, which should help you recover by the next day. Staying near Baisha Lake is also an option. Baisha Lake is beautiful, and if you get out of the car and walk around the lake during the day, dress warmly so you can take your time to enjoy the lake view. If you dress too lightly, you'll be in a hurry. The right side of picture one shows a route that doesn't retrace its steps, coming back down the Panlong Ancient Road and passing through wetlands, giving you a sense of Northern Xinjiang! However, I haven't been to Northern Xinjiang yet, 😂😄. The Panlong Ancient Road is a must-visit spot, perfect for self-driving. Check out the picture. On the way back, there are Blue Lake and other high-altitude wetland lakes. If you're not in a hurry, you can take your time and enjoy the route, which is very pleasant.
