A Hidden Gem: Pingshan Village

🎈Pingshan Village is a charming ancient village in Huizhou, southern Anhui. Compared to Hongcun, I personally prefer this village for its natural beauty. There is little commercial atmosphere here, only the pure charm of an ancient village. 😃 This is also where Zhao Liying's "The Story of Xing Fu" was filmed, so it's a great place to recreate scenes from the show. ✨ 📍Location: Pingshan Village (Yixian County, Anhui) 🎫Tickets: Free in 2024! 🆓 Pingshan Village has a long history, dating back to the late Tang Dynasty, more than 1,100 years ago. It is named after a mountain to the north of the village that resembles a screen. 😎 Pingshan is also an outstanding example of Ming and Qing Huizhou regional culture and architecture, with more than 300 clan ancestral halls and gardens, represented by Shuqingyutang, Guangyutang, the Imperial Guard Hall, and the Sangumiao Temple. Jiyang Creek, one of the sources of the Xin'an River, flows through the village, with its babbling waters and ten bridges over three miles, creating a typical Jiangnan water town scene. 💦 🌟Highlights: 1️⃣ Ancient Bridge Pavilion: Located by the creek at the entrance of the village, the plaque reads "Ancient Bridge Scenery." 2️⃣ Shangqiao Pavilion: Follow the creek upstream to reach Shangqiao Pavilion, passing through Yulanting. 3️⃣ Niaoyi Lane: A picturesque alley by the creek. Across the creek is a field of rapeseed flowers, with a view of Pingfeng Mountain. 4️⃣ Huizhou Slow Delivery: A retro cultural and creative shop where you can buy souvenirs. 🎁 5️⃣ Xianji Temple: A small temple in the village dedicated to the Three Sisters, with exquisite sculptures. 6️⃣ Shu Clan Ancestral Hall: The gatehouse features exquisite polychrome sculptures that are not to be missed! This high-relief polychrome decoration is unique among Huizhou ancestral halls. 7️⃣ Pingshan Archway: The archway bears four characters and is a very photogenic alley. Pingshan Village is a famous sketching destination, attracting art students from all over the country every year. 🎨 As a result, the village's services are tailored to the needs of these students. In my opinion, visiting Pingshan Village in the fall gives you a sense of tranquility. There are no noisy crowds, only the rustling of leaves in the wind. 🍃 Here, you can enjoy the beauty of the ancient village and feel the passage of time. The village's architecture is simple yet exquisite, with every detail worth savoring. 😜 The villagers are also very warm and hospitable, making you feel at home. 💕 If you're looking for a place to find peace of mind, Pingshan Village is definitely a great choice. 💯
