My biggest mistake of this trip to Yamagata is to book this hotel. It's a good hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. You will want to stay around the city of Yamagata province which is also called Yamagata city just so you can get to famous tourist spots. However this is 4 hours away from all of these. I had to book another hotel so I can stay 1 day in the city when I wanted to visit these places and the traveling time just completely made me exhausted. It took like 1 day to go to a place and 1 day to go back. It was so terrible, I was crying. This place is closed to Shonai airport not Yamagata airport so I also had to book another flight from Shonai. I wasted so much money for transportation. It was such a terrible experience. However the hotel is incredibly beautiful with smart design in everything. I loved the onsen very much. If it was just a vacation/restcation for relaxing purpose or isolate yourself from the human word, it's the best choice for you. Since its in the middle of the endless rice field, there is nothing to eat except for paying very high price to eat at the hotel's restaurant. And the food was just okay. The beauty of this hotel was like a trap. Its like I was blind from its beauty and couldn't see all other disavantages.

歌人　斎藤茂吉氏とゆかりのある宿。　泊まった方や地域の方が詠んだ和歌が飾ってあり、部屋にも短冊、筆がおいてあります。 部屋数も少なく、食事も個室で頂けて、とても落ち着いた雰囲気の良いお宿です。　置かれた調度品や家具、食事に使われている食器など、こだわりとセンスの良さを感じます。 特に積もった雪を見ながら入る白濁した硫黄の香る温泉と山形の食材を使った優しい味わいの美味しい料理は目でも楽しめて、大満足。　食材などの質問へも丁寧に答えて頂き、山型の歴史や文化を知ることもできました。　バスターミナルやロープウエイ乗り場への送迎も嬉しいサービスです。

L’hôtel en soi est magnifique. A l’intérieur on dirait un petit château féodal. La chambre que nous avions était spacieuse et magnifique. On vient vous chercher à la gare en navette (mais c’est vraiment tout prêt, à peine 5 min à pied, attention ça monte dans le sens gare-＞hotel). Repas kaiseki est excellent. Petit déjeuner japonais uniquement. Les onsens sont très agréables mais ne proposent aucuns amneties et vous n’avez le droit qu’à une seule plaque de produit si bien que si vous y allez plusieurs fois, vous n’en n’avez plus. L’équipe est très agréable mais parle peu l’anglais (pour certain pas du tout). Le patron par contre est assez désagréable, c’est dommage car c’est une des dernières personnes que vous croiserez et cela laisse un goût un peu amer. On a fait plusieurs ryokan au Japon, dans différentes régions (Kyushu, Fuji, Nagano et Kyoto notamment), et je pense que le prix est trop élevé par rapport à la moyenne (pas de vue particulière que ce soit des chambres ou de l’hôtel en lui même, pas d’amneties, peu de services spécifiques…). Le manque de propositions à Zao Onsen pousse sûrement à mettre des tarifs assez élevés mais c’est dommage…

Excellent stay in a nice clean single room on the 7th floor which also has an ice machine and vending machine and microwave on the same level. Other levels have coin operated laundry machines too. Very conveniently connected to the Yamagata Shinkansen station!!

The location is good. Room is decent equipped with heater that I think is time to replace seems not working very well. The breakfast and dinner especially is very worth n nice. First night we had pork shabu shabu n second night lamb BBQ. The staffs in restaurants r friendly n good, especially the old uncle n Philippo lady . Can see all the local staffs sort of rely or keep letting the lady work only as she speak english. In other words, a bit taking advantage of her. onsen is also nice especially the outdoor with trees n snow feel. The front desk staffs r very bad. There is one young guy that just stand there and when I carry my little girl with one hand while another hand pushing luggage where I need to push the entrance door. During check in, even the philipino girl helped to push the luggage inside while the same guy just stand there n look. Another more serious attitude guy was the older shorter guy with mole on his face, I parked my car in front as there was no parking didn't know is the hotel's van lot, the guy spoke with to remove the car like scolding n yelling at me. Super bad attitude. Lastly the air filter in the room, the cleaning standard operating procedure should include cleaning the water tank n it's surrounding. Looks very dirty with mold. Overall is worth your money n experience just some negative experiences by some bad staffs. Not missing another issue is the smoking room, is the exactly at the entrance n next to the welcome drinks sofa (though with ventilation n dedicated room but still can smell the smoke)

ประทับใจมาก ตั้งแต่เริ่มเข้าใจบริการจนถึงตอนเดินออกมา Staff พูดภาษาไทยได้ และมี Staff คนไทยด้วย ห้องพักแบบญี่ปุ่น ตอนค่ำไปใช้ Onsen แบบ Private ก่อน อยู่บนดาดฟ้า ชมดาวไปด้วย อากาศหนาวๆ แช่น้ำร้อนสบายๆ สุดยอด ตอนเช้าค่อยไปใช้ Onsen Public ก็ดีไปอีกแบบ อาหารเย็น และ อาหารเช้า สุดยอดมากทั้ง 2 มื้อ พนักงานก็บริการดีมากในทุกๆ ที่ แนะนำมากๆ สำหรับเพื่อนชาวไทยทุกคนครับ เดินจากสถานีรถไฟซัก 15 นาทีได้ ใกล้ๆ ไปเดินเที่ยวปราสาทได้ด้วย

This experience is 2nd time for us. Here is famous for the venue of Shogi match. Yes, Tendo is famous for the city of manufacturing Shogi battle piece, and here is most well-known hotel. You can see the history of matches so far. And these area are famous for hot spring as well, Tendo is one of them. But you can experience beyond your experience ever. That is they have really massive spa！You can enjoy a waterfall in spa outside by 10pm. My favorite one is breakfast！Very fresh food are provided, and among those my best one is fresh eggs. Recently, we can not enjoy fresh egg in hotel. That is we usually have cooked egg, ex. omlet, boiled and so on. Because egg is fresh, we can feel original taste of an egg！ I would recommend here, and I hope you have a memorial day here！ 天童は将棋の駒作りで有名な町で、中でもこの天童ホテルはタイトルマッチで有名です。 温泉もまた有名な街です。このホテルのお風呂はとても大きくて、露天風呂では滝を見ることができます。 私のお気に入りは朝食の新鮮な卵です。最近、ホテルの朝食で、これほど卵の味を感じることのできる朝食は覚えがありません。 天童ホテルをお勧めします、思い出の一日になることと思います。

Daiwa ROYNET had everything. Laundry cum dryer. NETFLIX even. You won’t be in need!! The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed. The 7-11 store below is so convenient. Even the mechanical car parking is great.

Great and convenient location from the train station and airport. For exploring Tendo and Ginzan onsen, front desk is helpful in guiding us for our sightseeing to Yamadera. Peaceful place, with a nice breakfast with local fruit juice and delicious fruits. Very appreciated. Can improve slightly for the pillow and bed and it would be amazing.

瀬見温泉という場所があるのを最近になって知りました。 地図を見たら東へさらに進むと宮城県、そして有名な鳴子温泉郷。 国道沿いでアクセスも悪くなく小国川沿いという絶好なロケーション。 気がついたらネットで予約をしておりました（笑） この界隈では最も箱の大きなホテルで目立ちます。 館内は清潔で清掃もばっちすばらり！従業員さんも親切で笑顔が素敵でした。 お風呂もお料理もよかったです。 客室からは時折JRの列車のガタゴトという走行音が風情が感じられてよかったです。 同じ列車の走行音でも普段耳にしている音は煩わしいと感じるのにこの差は何？？と考え込んでしまいました。 これまで山形の温泉には外れなしですが瀬見温泉も然りです。 山形牛もご飯もおいしくて久しぶりに食時で感動を覚えました。 また遊びに行けたら最高ですね。
