The pre arrival experience was poor - lack of replies by email this should have been a red flag! Despite calling the hotel a few days prior to make sure we had transport to the hotel they were about 45 mins late in picking us up. On arrival the hotel looked a little tired but this is Africa! They could not give us a room key saying they could not find it or it was still with Maid!! The luggage guy let us in with his pass key. A few hours passed and whet to collect the key!!!!!! Then the truth emerged they had no more plastic room keys !!!!!! After a long conversation with manager they found 2 keys - I must ask how a 5 star hotel can run out of keys!! The manager did asa apology give is dinner which was a BBQ evening - good choice of food nicely presented and of good quality. It came with live music and dancing - music / singer needs a shout out he was very good. Our room overlooked the water and was of good size (junior suite) it was clean. Only towels for one ! No tea coffee in room. Small balcony about 1m wide just enough to sit out on. AC good and quiet. Breakfast a wide selection to choose from with inside and outside seating options - the coffee is local and very nice. On site there is a dive centre independently operated - it's small but our experience of diving with them was positive. My wife used the Spa for a massage - again a positive. To summarise I feel the hotel is living in its past glory - and not maintaining the standards - little things like picking up the rubbish in the shore line / rocks apart from helping environment it would set an example for other to follow. The hotel grounds were well maintained and little free. Reduce the amount of plastic being used turn to glass recycled bottle for water. Invest in rooms and renovate them and the bathrooms to bring them to today's expected 5 star standard.
