The hotel is across the street from Gongbei border. It has a good rooftop, swimming pool. The reception staff is nice but restaurant staff not so much. Also breakfast is supposed to start at 6:30, however except for some bread and yoghurt there was no food. There was also a cockroach crawling around the bread plates, I pointed it out to the staff and they killed it but didn't really comment on it. We chose a non-smoking room but even though the sheets were clean the pillow inside and the covers were really stinky, so they obviously don't separate smoking from non-smoking rooms.DariAU$68

The driver dropped us off on the ground floor, and the greeter at the entrance was very polite and helped us with our luggage. Since the reception is on the second floor, we asked a staff member near the jewelry counter, who then had us walk a rather long way around to reach the elevator. The receptionist, however, was quite unhelpful regarding the hotel's complimentary perks; she only shared information when specifically asked, rather than proactively offering it. Perhaps this was because our booking was made through Ctrip.
The room itself was great, and I really liked the layout. It would have been better if the welcome fruit had been delivered to the room before our check-in. The rooms are not well sound proof as you can hear the people talking along the corridor but the hotel has kindly provided free ear plugs in the room for usage. I booked this hotel for the Macau Fireworks Festival. It was incredibly crowded that day, and the service definitely suffered. It took ages for my ice and cutlery request to be delivered. The location, though, is absolutely unbeatable. It's a bit old, given it's a decade-old hotel.
The beds here are incredibly comfortable; I wish I knew the brand. I stayed at three different hotels over three days, and the Sheraton's bed was surprisingly the best. However, the lounge was quite disappointing. I wouldn't recommend booking it unless you're specifically there for the fireworks. In the evening, there was only one meat dish (duck) and some starchy meatballs. The desserts were very basic, and the Chilean wine was so astringent it was almost undrinkable; plus, there was no dedicated bartender. Afternoon tea consisted of just biscuits and fruit, and the biscuits weren't even good.
The breakfast on the second day had a good variety, nothing special, but certainly enough to fill you up. The coffee beans from Huafa were as bad as ever – incredibly bitter. It's the same at the Marriott's Huafa; I don't know why. The service, however, was excellent. With so many people during the National Day holiday, they implemented a queuing system for breakfast. While waiting, they provided various pastries, fruits, and coffee. The male staff member managing the queue was incredibly patient, and the breakfast team deserves praise for that. There's also a swimming pool, a wet and dry sauna, a children's pool, and a 24-hour gym, which is great. Nearby, there's a Huafa shopping mall with plenty of food options, including a good cha chaan teng.
Overall, the location is superb, and the fireworks view from the 18th floor is unparalleled. The service is also good, apart from the subpar food. It's still worth coming back, but it's a bit dated; a renovation would make it even better.DariAU$101

The bedding felt great, and the mattress was just right – not too soft, not too hard – ensuring our whole family had a deep sleep every night. The thoughtful details were impressive: multi-head chargers, complimentary bottled water and tea bags, and even special amenities for kids, which were very practical. We weren't disappointed with the food either. The buffet restaurant had a wide variety of dishes, the Cantonese dim sum at the Fisherman's Wharf Tea Restaurant was authentic, and the dishes at the Chinese restaurant were exquisitely prepared. The breakfast, in particular, offered local specialties and also catered to children's tastes, which was very considerate. The staff provided very professional service; check-in at the front desk was fast, bellhops proactively helped with luggage, and room service responded promptly when called. Check-out was even more convenient – just drop your key card in the express check-out box, no need to queue, which saved a lot of hassle. From October 1st to October 5th, 2025, I stayed in room 4507, a sea-view room. The room was excellent, very spacious and comfortable, and the sheets and towels were very clean. The staff were very friendly; they'd greet you with a ”good morning,” ”good afternoon,” or ”good evening,” whether they recognized you or not. When I called for an extra bed, it was brought up in less than ten minutes. Children over 12 even received two complimentary breakfasts. In the evening, they proactively came to the room to ask if we needed mineral water or room service. The sea-view room offered a superb view of the ocean, and as it was during the National Day celebrations, I could even watch the Macau Fireworks Display from bed. This was my first time staying in the Chang Sheng Zhuang room type. It's pricier than the Yun Lai Inn, but honestly, it was an awful experience, and I strongly advise against choosing it.
Here's why:
1. **Tiny Window:** The window is minuscule, just a narrow slit, many times smaller than those at Yun Lai Inn. It lets in very little light, making the room feel cramped and confined.
2. **Remote Location:** Its location is remote. After getting off the shuttle bus, you have to navigate a long, noisy corridor, pass through the train station area, and a bustling bar street just to reach the Chang Sheng Zhuang front desk. There's no assistance, so you're left hauling all your luggage by yourself. It's a stark contrast to the much more convenient location of Yun Lai Inn.
3. **Noise Pollution:** The most unbearable aspect is that Chang Sheng Zhuang is right next to a bar street. Even at 1:30 AM, we could still hear loud singing from the bars downstairs, severely disrupting our sleep.
4. **Poor View:** The view is terrible. Despite being advertised as having a 'pastoral view,' all you can see through the tiny window slit are messy piles of dirt.
5. **Safety Hazard:** Chang Sheng Zhuang rooms are multi-story with stairs, but these stairs are extremely steep and high, posing a significant risk to children, the elderly, and pregnant women. While the hotel prominently displays signs everywhere stating 'Not suitable for guests under 10 or over 65,' there was no such warning during the booking process. This is a crucial heads-up for anyone traveling with young children or seniors.
6. **Unfair Room Assignment:** We checked in at 4 PM, a reasonable time, yet the front desk assigned us an undesirable 'tail room' (typically a less preferred room, often at the end of a corridor). The front desk was still bustling with check-ins as late as 7 PM that day, which makes me wonder why we were given such a room. As a Ctrip Black Diamond member, I can't help but suspect that Ctrip guests might be treated differently, especially since the hotel actively promotes direct bookings through its official mini-program.
7. **Inadequate Amenities & Service:** We booked and paid for three guests, yet all in-room amenities (toothbrushes, bathrobes, water, etc.) were only provided for two. The in-room service hotline was consistently unreachable, and after calling Ctrip twice, the requested items were only delivered much later.
On the other hand, the food and facilities at Imperial Hot Spring (御温泉) remain top-notch, which is why I keep coming back. The temple fair dinner and breakfast are truly memorable. However, this stay at Chang Sheng Zhuang was simply terrible, and the service quality was still very mediocre, standing in stark contrast to the wonderful entertainment and dining experiences.DariAU$251

Let me talk about the swimming pool first, the water quality is clear, the management is very clean, and the swimming is particularly comfortable. The constant temperature design is super intimate, no matter when you enter the water, you can enjoy a pleasant time of playing in the water. There are many lounge chairs and umbrellas around, and you are tired of swimming and lying on the lounge chair, basking in the sun and blowing the breeze. Don't mention how comfortable it is, it's really super film.
The parent-child shrimp fishing area is also very interesting! The number of shrimps in the shrimp fishing pool is sufficient, and the staff will patiently guide, even children can get started quickly. The family sat around, stared at the fishing rod, waiting for the shrimp to hook up is tense and exciting. The small train in the rice field is the favorite of children! The elevators resemble deep-sea tunnels, displaying different deep-sea wonders as you ascend, which was incredibly novel. The room was cozy and comfortable with great natural light, and our child loved it. The balcony offered a wonderful view. All amenities were complete and of good quality; the bedding was comfortable, and the duvet and pillows were soft and warm. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the footstool for kids and the toilet seat were such thoughtful touches – definitely a big thumbs up. The hotel also offered interactive activities like flash card games, which were both fun and helped develop our child's skills. Every detail showed how much care they put in. I arrived at the hotel around 12 PM, and the entire Front Office team gave an excellent overall impression. From the moment I entered, most of the staff seemed perceptive, professional, and courteous. I'd like to give a special shout-out to the female staff member who checked me in (the one with long, radiant-looking hair). Her tone was gentle, she returned my documents with both hands, and her communication was impeccably professional and polite, truly meeting 5-star hotel standards. The male staff member with glasses standing next to her was also very good; he seemed to be a new front desk agent and appeared genuinely sincere. The female staff member with glasses nearby also made a good impression, exuding a sophisticated demeanor.
This morning, I checked out and was assisted by the same female staff member who helped me yesterday. I could tell she is a person of genuinely high caliber!
Yesterday around noon, the door on the 2nd floor leading to the mall was broken. Initially, I thought I couldn't figure out how to open it and even tried swiping my room card. Later, I sought help from the greeter (with a slightly plump build) standing at the entrance of the Shanhai Tower Chinese Restaurant. She initially said it should open... but then proactively walked with us to the door, and indeed, it couldn't be opened! The fact that she accompanied us there was very kind and helpful, especially since it was quite a distance. Many thanks to her again!
Yesterday afternoon, I left the hotel around 2 PM, and this morning, I departed around 7 AM. The security guards at the entrance were all very pleasant and proactive in their service, even stepping forward to help close car doors. Thank you to them!
**Conclusion:** The Front Office is very well managed, exhibiting a rigorous work ethic. Most staff members are perceptive and professional. The entire team seems cohesive and free of internal politics.
**Drawback:**
The hotel staff's name tags are extremely small, making it impossible to read their names. :)

This was a truly exceptional choice, one I'd even commend myself for making. The room was spacious, elegant, clean, and bright, with a fantastic design. The facilities were comprehensive, and the hairdryer was far superior to those found in similar hotels. From the high-floor, floor-to-ceiling windows, you can enjoy a unique view overlooking the cityscape and the sea in the distance. As a loyal guest of the Zhuhai Wanyue Hotel, I've always chosen to stay here on my previous visits to Zhuhai. After several years, I opted for this hotel again, but this stay presented some differences compared to my past experiences.
My booking price for this stay showed an agent rate, which was quite good; I didn't look into the specific reasons for this. Also, I checked in quite late. I'm not sure if these two factors played a role, but the staff member at check-in didn't display the familiar level of service I was used to: there was no welcome tea, which had always been offered before, and a general lack of the usual welcoming demeanor, coupled with a certain aloofness. I suspect this might be due to their biological clock affecting their state late in the evening, or perhaps they are new and not yet fully proficient.
The next day, when I encountered a housekeeping staff member replenishing supplies outside my door, and asked for a toothbrush, towel, and bottled water, they were also quite cautious, repeatedly confirming my room number before providing the items. The overall service felt different from before.
The core reason I repeatedly chose Wanyue Hotel was its consistently stable service quality in the past – prompt and natural responsiveness to guest needs, without being overly enthusiastic, yet making guests feel comfortable and well taken care of. This was not the case during this stay.
The check-out service, however, was quite satisfying: the bellboy was proactive, and by chance, a male lobby manager who had worked there for many years handled my check-out. His professional and thoughtful service reminded me of the hotel's past excellent service.
Objectively, the differences in this stay primarily lay in the service attitude of some staff members. If the hotel cannot maintain its usual consistent service standards in the future, it might affect repeat business from loyal customers.DariAU$100

The room was great, and on the second day, the hotel lobby upgraded us to a sea-view room for two days. The service was excellent and very prompt whenever we needed anything. Highly recommended! It's super convenient to get to – just cross the pedestrian bridge from Zhuhai High-Speed Rail Station and walk a few minutes. The area around is lively, and Gongbei Port is right across the street. The front desk staff were great, pretty much accommodating every request. The facilities are comprehensive; they even have a robot for food deliveries and a 24-hour laundry room. The room itself was spacious. Breakfast was quite varied, and we also tried the dim sum at the 3rd-floor restaurant, which many locals frequent. The six of us had a fantastic meal for just over 400 RMB. They also serve quality lunch and dinner options.
The only slight downside was that our room had a faint smell of smoke, which was a bit inconvenient traveling with a child. We didn't switch rooms because we were in a hurry to go out. Hopefully, they can improve on this aspect of their service in the future.DariAU$68

We stayed there for four days for a long weekend getaway. The experience was very relaxing. The hotel has mountain bikes, so we went out everyday riding bikes to nearby parks. We also enjoyed the daily wellness classes and the state of art gym. I even tried out some of the medical services that focus on prevention. The hotel must’ve spent a lot of efforts sourcing these machines and services.
The location is far away from the city center. It was exactly what we liked for a remote relaxing get away.
My favorite part is the restaurant. The chef is amazing, and can cook so many different kinds of local Chinese and western cuisines. If this is in HK, it would probably receive a Michelin star rating.DariAU$424

When we arrived during a heavy rain, the lobby manager kindly held an umbrella for us to shield us from the rain and helped us with our luggage. The epidemic has not been out of Beijing for three years, and I finally look forward to the days of letting go. My heart is for the sea, and I chose Wailingding Island.
The island is full of homestays. When I was browsing with my children, I was attracted by the photos and placed an order decisively. I stayed for two days before the Spring Festival, and I was worried about the difference at first, but I was very satisfied with the room after checking in.
Three bedrooms, two bedrooms, one living room, and two bathrooms are too comfortable for our family of four. There is a big TV in the living room, and there is a tea ceremony. If you look carefully, there is a gas mask under the TV. This is a bonus. Moreover, there is a central air conditioner in this house. It was really cold to cool down for a few days, thanks to the air conditioner.
Although the kitchen is small, it has all internal organs, ovens, microwave ovens, and seasonings.
The toilets in the bathrooms are all smart toilets, which greatly improves the experience (there is no hotel in Macau for 5 nights), and for our family who cannot live without smart toilets, this is another one.
The staff at the homestay are also very enthusiastic. Everyone at the front desk, pick-up, and cleaning lady is considerate. Thanks again to the little chubby guy at the front desk and another pretty boy for helping deliver the luggage. I was asked if I wanted to stay for a month, haha, because of the luggage too heavy.
The location is also easy to find, very close to the beach, and very close to the restaurant street.
Next time I have a chance, I will choose you again.

## Environment:
The hotel room was quite spacious and comfortable. It's very close to Victoria Harbour, and walking to Tsim Sha Tsui East and Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations is also very convenient. I'm not sure if I got an upgraded room type, but my room even had a walk-in closet.
## Service:
The hotel room essentially met all my requirements. I chose a twin room this time because the king-size rooms were smoking rooms. Our room was on a higher floor, close to the elevator yet still quiet, and we could see a partial view of Victoria Harbour from outside. The front desk service was exceptionally thoughtful; they would proactively offer help whenever they saw us.
## Hygiene and Facilities:
The hotel seems to have been recently renovated. All the amenities are quite new and very clean, though the facilities themselves are relatively classic/retro.
## Breakfast:
Breakfast was a mix of Western and Cantonese cuisine. The variety of dishes was relatively rich, and the Cantonese dim sum was delicious. This was my first time staying at the Royal Garden. The hotel is clean, has a beautiful pool, nice views, and a wide selection of restaurants. The most outstanding feature of this hotel is probably its ventilation system (since the hotel is relatively new, the AC and air circulation likely use two separate ducts). I originally planned to use the hotel's washing machine (laundry is $40 and drying is $40, not cheap). On the first day, I just hand-washed a pair of shorts and socks, and to my surprise, they were completely dry by the next day, hanging on the rack outside the sink! (I'm sensitive to cold, so I kept the AC at 25 degrees at night, and it only blew occasionally, so its exhaust system must be independent). I have to praise it. Shimen MTR station is very close to the hotel, and at Sam Do Restaurant next to the station, the triple-combo rice is only $38 after 7 PM. 1️⃣Excellent location. It's only three stops from Austin (we arrived at West Kowloon by high-speed rail). The hotel is close to the MTR station, and there's a shopping mall downstairs. You can even access two or three other malls via connected pedestrian bridges – truly a 'city of bridges'. There's also a park downstairs with children's play facilities. Several markets are nearby, offering great value, especially for fruit.
2️⃣Spacious rooms. The twin room had two 1.5-meter large beds (this was the most important reason we chose this hotel). It's family-friendly with a bathtub (bring your own disposable tub liner, and the kids can enjoy a bath!).
3️⃣The hotel also has an outdoor pool and offers free luggage storage.

1️⃣We stayed in the low-rise building this time. The showerhead in the bathroom was fixed to the wall (as shown in picture 7), so children had to bathe in the tub.

3️⃣The room facilities are a bit dated, and the cleanliness wasn't exceptional.

This was the 3rd stay in the last 2 months. First I made a mistake and double booked our rooms. The hotel was very fast to cancel one of my bookings without any charges. On arrival, Vanessa at the front desk was very nice and helped arrange adjoining rooms for my wife and I and adjoining room for my 2 boys.
Aside from easy access to the MTR and lots of restaurants all around the hotel offers a spectacular view of the Victoria Harbor from their VIP Lounge on the top floor.

While trying to contact trip.com which they wasn’t helpful as much can’t even give me refund the rest of the night and say ask the hotel. The next morning I have to say the guy manger was much better help and trying to provide a great service for the worst experience I have and change us to a much cleaner and bigger room for us (I think it was upgrade) but I feel like the lady should had done that on the first night and shouldn’t had waiting the next morning and I need to ask for changing room bc the third room I realize in the morning it wasn’t the best for cleanliness like the mole in the washroom,table, fridge, and rundown appliance. The only positive thing I had at this hotel was the manager trying to help me to make my rest of stay more comfortable, but have to say the hotel itself is so rundown and not well maintain. We booked the quadruple room for 3 of us, room was small with us getting into each other's way quite often. There is also no space to put luggages (we had 2 medium ones) except the window ledge which was lined up against the beds. There were mirrors reflecting each other everywhere in the room, including a mirror in the middle of the room where there was a divider for the tv (seen covered with a towel in the photo). Also there were 3 large mirrors in the bathroom, the only wall with no mirror was the door.
It is branded as an eco hotel, there is no water provided in the room, except an empty water bottle which you can fill up at designated floors in the hotel. The 2 lifts were super busy and was crowded alot of the times when we took it. Note there was also no hand soap in the bathroom. I thought it may have been missed out so I asked at the front desk and was told they don't provide any handsoap. So I asked for another bottle of shower gel to be placed at the sink, and was given a Johnson and Johnson baby shower gel.
The only good thing was - slippers provided were good and anti-slip. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were from Elemis.

The only down side is that if we wanted amenities we have to buy it from a vending machine on the same floor that only accepts Alipay, WeChat and octopus. We are not from the mainland and just arrived in Hong Kong so we cannot buy anything from it. By amenities, I mean stuff like mineral water, toothbrush.
Staff comes to clean everysay at about 10am and room was spacious. Did not get food from the hotel so will not be commenting on that.
The hotel is a bit far from the train station but there is a bus stop about 1 min way in front of the hotel that can take us to the train station. It is also walkable to the nearest ferry terminal, about 10mins walk.

A Short Stay at iclub Fortress Hill Hotel
First time in Fortress Hill, Hong Kong, and choosing iclub Hotel was definitely the right call! It's just a 5-minute walk from the MTR station, so even with luggage, you don't have to go out of your way – super friendly for travelers with big bags.
Check-in was very efficient, and the front desk even thoughtfully provided a local map, marking nearby cha chaan tengs and convenience stores. The attention to detail was amazing. Though the room wasn't huge, it was cleverly laid out, with a clear separation for the desk, wardrobe, and bathroom. The small sofa by the window offered a perfect view of the street, and seeing the neon lights twinkle at night felt very 'Hong Kong'.
The most pleasant surprise was the hotel's location. It's a 10-minute walk to Tin Hau Temple, and just around the corner downstairs is an old-school wonton noodle shop. In the morning, you can even visit the nearby wet market to experience local life. On my second day, I had an early flight, and the front desk helped pre-book a taxi, which took all the stress away.
My short two-night stay was hassle-free, from the convenient transportation to the thoughtful service. Next time I'm in Hong Kong exploring the Eastern District, I'll definitely choose this place again!DariAU$129

Other reviewers had mentioned no issues with smell, so I chose Kowloon Shangri-La. I ended up being incredibly satisfied! The decor is grand and luxurious. The staff are enthusiastic and remember guest preferences. (I was among the first employees at Shangri-La Qingdao in '97. I remember during training, we were taught to always remember every guest's preferences. It's great to see that Shangri-La's global standards haven't changed over the years.) · The room itself was lovely and offered a great view.
· A special thank you to the housekeeping staff member from Mainland China on November 5, 2025. She was an absolute angel—always smiling, highly attentive, and even asked if there was anything she could do better. Her attitude was, without a doubt, the best I have encountered across thousands of hotel stays worldwide.
· At check-out, Front Desk Staff Dordon (not sure of the spelling; he is from Canada and was wearing a navy blue uniform) provided excellent service with a professional and friendly attitude.
Cons:
· At check-in, I specifically requested a room above the swimming pool, as that was the primary reason I booked this hotel after seeing the pictures online. However, the front desk staff member, Jimmy, assigned me a room in the East Tower, near the Ocean Park rollercoaster. Upon entering, I immediately realized it was not what I had asked for and called to request a change. Jimmy said he would check for availability, so I went down to the lobby to wait. After a 30-minute wait, I was finally reassigned to a room in the West Tower above the swimming pool—which was my original request. It's worth noting that all swimming pool view rooms are in the West Tower, not the East Tower.
· Unfortunately, my new room was one of the noisiest. There were two staff access doors directly opposite my room, one of which was for loading laundry, resulting in constant, loud door slamming. Furthermore, a drinking water station was situated very close by (the hotel does not provide bottled water), which created a continuous flow noise that was highly disruptive and unpleasant.
· I was too exhausted to request another room change at that point, unsure of how long it would take, and I had commitments to attend to afterward.
· Another issue occurred before check-out. On November 6 at around 11:30 AM, I called the front desk to inquire about the latest check-out time, mentioning that my flight was in the evening. A male staff member (with a Hong Kong accent, and not Jimmy or Dordon) replied abruptly, ”If you want to stay until evening, you need to pay an extra fee!!” I was taken aback by his assumption that I was trying to exploit the hotel's policy. It is common practice for hotels to offer at least a one-hour grace period.
· I tried to ease the tension with a light laugh, which he mirrored. I repeated my question, clarifying that I was simply asking for the latest check-out time, to which he finally replied, ”12:30！”
· This experience taught me that explaining the reason for a request can sometimes be counterproductive with certain staff, who may lack empathy and automatically assume guests are seeking special treatment.
Suggestions:
It appears that some of the male front desk staff in grey uniforms could benefit from additional customer service training. Working in hospitality requires a genuine desire to serve people. If one inherently dislikes interacting with guests, it may be time to reconsider their career path. While not all local Hong Kong staff are impolite, certain ingrained perceptions about service attitudes do occasionally surface.DariAU$208

North Point Pier is right downstairs, and the airport shuttle bus is also very convenient – you can take the MTR to 100 from the airport, or bus 47 to the airport. Thanks to all the previous reviews, my check-in was very smooth. I stayed in a single room with one single bed and a sofa. Although the room was small, it was enough for one person. It seems like the double rooms just replace the sofa with another single bed.
The hotel staff were excellent and very enthusiastic. I didn't encounter any unpleasant experiences.
The facilities aren't particularly new. The bath towels were a bit frayed from washing. The toothpaste was surprisingly hard, like candy, which I wasn't used to. There's no drinking water provided in the room; you have to get it yourself from a designated spot. Hong Kong's environmental efforts are very thorough.
It was very convenient to take the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel, and then from the hotel to Disneyland and Tung Chung. I'd like to suggest to management that drivers announce the stops at each station, or have pre-recorded announcements in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese playing at each stop. Many people got off at the wrong stop on the way back from Tung Chung because the shuttle goes to the Regal Hotel first.DariAU$154

My overall experience at the Pullman Zhuhai was fantastic. The hotel's location near Gongbei Port makes it super convenient for getting around, whether you're heading into the city or over to Macau. The room itself was spacious and well-laid out, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. The bedding was just right – soft yet supportive – and I slept soundly for several nights. My favorite feature was definitely the floor-to-ceiling window, offering city views that became especially atmospheric when the lights came on at night. The bathroom had a great walk-in shower with stable water pressure, which was a big plus.
The service truly deserves praise. Check-in at the front desk was quick, and the staff were polite and professional. The hotel is across the street from Gongbei border. It has a good rooftop, swimming pool. The reception staff is nice but restaurant staff not so much. Also breakfast is supposed to start at 6:30, however except for some bread and yoghurt there was no food. There was also a cockroach crawling around the bread plates, I pointed it out to the staff and they killed it but didn't really comment on it. The driver dropped us off on the ground floor, and the greeter at the entrance was very polite and helped us with our luggage. Since the reception is on the second floor, we asked a staff member near the jewelry counter, who then had us walk a rather long way around to reach the elevator. The receptionist, however, was quite unhelpful regarding the hotel's complimentary perks; she only shared information when specifically asked, rather than proactively offering it. Perhaps this was because our booking was made through Ctrip.
The room itself was great, and I really liked the layout. It would have been better if the welcome fruit had been delivered to the room before our check-in. As Ctrip provided a voucher, we decided to try the restaurant. The food was good, offered decent value for money, and generally didn't disappoint, though the complimentary dessert at the end was a bit underwhelming.
When we checked out, our driver couldn't locate the second-floor entrance, so the greeter at the door personally ran downstairs to find him. On such a hot day, this was truly commendable, and I regret not catching his name or staff ID. However, the front desk receptionist remained unhelpful and indifferent. I booked this hotel for the Macau Fireworks Festival. It was incredibly crowded that day, and the service definitely suffered. It took ages for my ice and cutlery request to be delivered. The location, though, is absolutely unbeatable. It's a bit old, given it's a decade-old hotel.
The beds here are incredibly comfortable; I wish I knew the brand. I stayed at three different hotels over three days, and the Sheraton's bed was surprisingly the best. However, the lounge was quite disappointing. I wouldn't recommend booking it unless you're specifically there for the fireworks. In the evening, there was only one meat dish (duck) and some starchy meatballs. The desserts were very basic, and the Chilean wine was so astringent it was almost undrinkable; plus, there was no dedicated bartender. Afternoon tea consisted of just biscuits and fruit, and the biscuits weren't even good.
The breakfast on the second day had a good variety, nothing special, but certainly enough to fill you up. The coffee beans from Huafa were as bad as ever – incredibly bitter. It's the same at the Marriott's Huafa; I don't know why. The service, however, was excellent. With so many people during the National Day holiday, they implemented a queuing system for breakfast. While waiting, they provided various pastries, fruits, and coffee. The male staff member managing the queue was incredibly patient, and the breakfast team deserves praise for that. From October 1st to October 5th, 2025, I stayed in room 4507, a sea-view room. The room was excellent, very spacious and comfortable, and the sheets and towels were very clean. When I called for an extra bed, it was brought up in less than ten minutes. Children over 12 even received two complimentary breakfasts. This was my first time staying in the Chang Sheng Zhuang room type. It's pricier than the Yun Lai Inn, but honestly, it was an awful experience, and I strongly advise against choosing it.
Here's why:
1. **Tiny Window:** The window is minuscule, just a narrow slit, many times smaller than those at Yun Lai Inn. It lets in very little light, making the room feel cramped and confined.
2. **Remote Location:** Its location is remote. After getting off the shuttle bus, you have to navigate a long, noisy corridor, pass through the train station area, and a bustling bar street just to reach the Chang Sheng Zhuang front desk. There's no assistance, so you're left hauling all your luggage by yourself. It's a stark contrast to the much more convenient location of Yun Lai Inn.
3. **Noise Pollution:** The most unbearable aspect is that Chang Sheng Zhuang is right next to a bar street. Even at 1:30 AM, we could still hear loud singing from the bars downstairs, severely disrupting our sleep.
4. **Poor View:** The view is terrible. Despite being advertised as having a 'pastoral view,' all you can see through the tiny window slit are messy piles of dirt.
5. **Safety Hazard:** Chang Sheng Zhuang rooms are multi-story with stairs, but these stairs are extremely steep and high, posing a significant risk to children, the elderly, and pregnant women. While the hotel prominently displays signs everywhere stating 'Not suitable for guests under 10 or over 65,' there was no such warning during the booking process. This is a crucial heads-up for anyone traveling with young children or seniors.
6. **Unfair Room Assignment:** We checked in at 4 PM, a reasonable time, yet the front desk assigned us an undesirable 'tail room' (typically a less preferred room, often at the end of a corridor). The front desk was still bustling with check-ins as late as 7 PM that day, which makes me wonder why we were given such a room. As a Ctrip Black Diamond member, I can't help but suspect that Ctrip guests might be treated differently, especially since the hotel actively promotes direct bookings through its official mini-program.
7. **Inadequate Amenities & Service:** We booked and paid for three guests, yet all in-room amenities (toothbrushes, bathrobes, water, etc.) were only provided for two. The in-room service hotline was consistently unreachable, and after calling Ctrip twice, the requested items were only delivered much later.
On the other hand, the food and facilities at Imperial Hot Spring (御温泉) remain top-notch, which is why I keep coming back. The temple fair dinner and breakfast are truly memorable. Let me talk about the swimming pool first, the water quality is clear, the management is very clean, and the swimming is particularly comfortable. The constant temperature design is super intimate, no matter when you enter the water, you can enjoy a pleasant time of playing in the water. There are many lounge chairs and umbrellas around, and you are tired of swimming and lying on the lounge chair, basking in the sun and blowing the breeze. The parent-child shrimp fishing area is also very interesting! She initially said it should open... but then proactively walked with us to the door, and indeed, it couldn't be opened! The core reason I repeatedly chose Wanyue Hotel was its consistently stable service quality in the past – prompt and natural responsiveness to guest needs, without being overly enthusiastic, yet making guests feel comfortable and well taken care of. This was not the case during this stay.
The check-out service, however, was quite satisfying: the bellboy was proactive, and by chance, a male lobby manager who had worked there for many years handled my check-out. His professional and thoughtful service reminded me of the hotel's past excellent service.

Three bedrooms, two bedrooms, one living room, and two bathrooms are too comfortable for our family of four. There is a big TV in the living room, and there is a tea ceremony. If you look carefully, there is a gas mask under the TV. This is a bonus. Moreover, there is a central air conditioner in this house. It was really cold to cool down for a few days, thanks to the air conditioner.
Although the kitchen is small, it has all internal organs, ovens, microwave ovens, and seasonings.
The toilets in the bathrooms are all smart toilets, which greatly improves the experience (there is no hotel in Macau for 5 nights), and for our family who cannot live without smart toilets, this is another one.
The staff at the homestay are also very enthusiastic. Everyone at the front desk, pick-up, and cleaning lady is considerate. Thanks again to the little chubby guy at the front desk and another pretty boy for helping deliver the luggage. I was asked if I wanted to stay for a month, haha, because of the luggage too heavy.
The location is also easy to find, very close to the beach, and very close to the restaurant street.
Next time I have a chance, I will choose you again.

The hotel room was quite spacious and comfortable. It's very close to Victoria Harbour, and walking to Tsim Sha Tsui East and Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations is also very convenient. I'm not sure if I got an upgraded room type, but my room even had a walk-in closet.

The hotel room essentially met all my requirements. I chose a twin room this time because the king-size rooms were smoking rooms. Our room was on a higher floor, close to the elevator yet still quiet, and we could see a partial view of Victoria Harbour from outside. The front desk service was exceptionally thoughtful; they would proactively offer help whenever they saw us.

The hotel seems to have been recently renovated. All the amenities are quite new and very clean, though the facilities themselves are relatively classic/retro.

This was my first time staying at the Royal Garden. The hotel is clean, has a beautiful pool, nice views, and a wide selection of restaurants. Our stay at the Ramada Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui was a very pleasant experience. The hotel's location is its biggest asset, offering incredible convenience for exploring the city. The most outstanding feature of this hotel is probably its ventilation system (since the hotel is relatively new, the AC and air circulation likely use two separate ducts). 1️⃣Excellent location. It's only three stops from Austin (we arrived at West Kowloon by high-speed rail). The hotel is close to the MTR station, and there's a shopping mall downstairs. You can even access two or three other malls via connected pedestrian bridges – truly a 'city of bridges'. There's also a park downstairs with children's play facilities. Several markets are nearby, offering great value, especially for fruit.
2️⃣Spacious rooms. The twin room had two 1.5-meter large beds (this was the most important reason we chose this hotel). It's family-friendly with a bathtub (bring your own disposable tub liner, and the kids can enjoy a bath!).
3️⃣The hotel also has an outdoor pool and offers free luggage storage.

We booked the quadruple room for 3 of us, room was small with us getting into each other's way quite often. There is also no space to put luggages (we had 2 medium ones) except the window ledge which was lined up against the beds. There were mirrors reflecting each other everywhere in the room, including a mirror in the middle of the room where there was a divider for the tv (seen covered with a towel in the photo). Also there were 3 large mirrors in the bathroom, the only wall with no mirror was the door.
It is branded as an eco hotel, there is no water provided in the room, except an empty water bottle which you can fill up at designated floors in the hotel. The 2 lifts were super busy and was crowded alot of the times when we took it. Note there was also no hand soap in the bathroom. I thought it may have been missed out so I asked at the front desk and was told they don't provide any handsoap. So I asked for another bottle of shower gel to be placed at the sink, and was given a Johnson and Johnson baby shower gel.
The only good thing was - slippers provided were good and anti-slip. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were from Elemis.

The only down side is that if we wanted amenities we have to buy it from a vending machine on the same floor that only accepts Alipay, WeChat and octopus. Staff comes to clean everysay at about 10am and room was spacious. Did not get food from the hotel so will not be commenting on that.

A Short Stay at iclub Fortress Hill Hotel
First time in Fortress Hill, Hong Kong, and choosing iclub Hotel was definitely the right call! It's just a 5-minute walk from the MTR station, so even with luggage, you don't have to go out of your way – super friendly for travelers with big bags.
Check-in was very efficient, and the front desk even thoughtfully provided a local map, marking nearby cha chaan tengs and convenience stores. The attention to detail was amazing. Though the room wasn't huge, it was cleverly laid out, with a clear separation for the desk, wardrobe, and bathroom. The small sofa by the window offered a perfect view of the street, and seeing the neon lights twinkle at night felt very 'Hong Kong'.
The most pleasant surprise was the hotel's location. It's a 10-minute walk to Tin Hau Temple, and just around the corner downstairs is an old-school wonton noodle shop. In the morning, you can even visit the nearby wet market to experience local life. On my second day, I had an early flight, and the front desk helped pre-book a taxi, which took all the stress away.
My short two-night stay was hassle-free, from the convenient transportation to the thoughtful service. Next time I'm in Hong Kong exploring the Eastern District, I'll definitely choose this place again!DariAU$129

The staff are enthusiastic and remember guest preferences. (I was among the first employees at Shangri-La Qingdao in '97. · The room itself was lovely and offered a great view.
· A special thank you to the housekeeping staff member from Mainland China on November 5, 2025. She was an absolute angel—always smiling, highly attentive, and even asked if there was anything she could do better. Her attitude was, without a doubt, the best I have encountered across thousands of hotel stays worldwide.
· At check-out, Front Desk Staff Dordon (not sure of the spelling; he is from Canada and was wearing a navy blue uniform) provided excellent service with a professional and friendly attitude.
Cons:
· At check-in, I specifically requested a room above the swimming pool, as that was the primary reason I booked this hotel after seeing the pictures online. However, the front desk staff member, Jimmy, assigned me a room in the East Tower, near the Ocean Park rollercoaster. Upon entering, I immediately realized it was not what I had asked for and called to request a change. Jimmy said he would check for availability, so I went down to the lobby to wait. After a 30-minute wait, I was finally reassigned to a room in the West Tower above the swimming pool—which was my original request. It's worth noting that all swimming pool view rooms are in the West Tower, not the East Tower.
· Unfortunately, my new room was one of the noisiest. There were two staff access doors directly opposite my room, one of which was for loading laundry, resulting in constant, loud door slamming. Furthermore, a drinking water station was situated very close by (the hotel does not provide bottled water), which created a continuous flow noise that was highly disruptive and unpleasant.
· I was too exhausted to request another room change at that point, unsure of how long it would take, and I had commitments to attend to afterward.
· Another issue occurred before check-out. On November 6 at around 11:30 AM, I called the front desk to inquire about the latest check-out time, mentioning that my flight was in the evening. A male staff member (with a Hong Kong accent, and not Jimmy or Dordon) replied abruptly, ”If you want to stay until evening, you need to pay an extra fee!!” I was taken aback by his assumption that I was trying to exploit the hotel's policy. It is common practice for hotels to offer at least a one-hour grace period.
· I tried to ease the tension with a light laugh, which he mirrored. I repeated my question, clarifying that I was simply asking for the latest check-out time, to which he finally replied, ”12:30！”
· This experience taught me that explaining the reason for a request can sometimes be counterproductive with certain staff, who may lack empathy and automatically assume guests are seeking special treatment.
Suggestions:
It appears that some of the male front desk staff in grey uniforms could benefit from additional customer service training. Working in hospitality requires a genuine desire to serve people. If one inherently dislikes interacting with guests, it may be time to reconsider their career path. While not all local Hong Kong staff are impolite, certain ingrained perceptions about service attitudes do occasionally surface.DariAU$208

The main drawbacks were the rather dirty carpet and the somewhat dated room facilities. However, the hotel's location was excellent. It's not far from the subway station and within walking distance of the central business district. Getting to the China-Hong Kong cross-border minibuses was also convenient, just a few hundred meters away. The area was quiet at night with no noise disturbance. First off, getting to the hotel from the airport on the A11 bus was super convenient, a direct ride.
The front desk didn't proactively tell me the specific times for breakfast and afternoon tea, only the floor where they were located.
I'm guessing the hotel is a bit older, as the room facilities felt a little dated. There wasn't a charging port by the bed, and there was a vent in the room that couldn't be turned off, constantly making noise.
However, the breakfast and afternoon tea offerings were plentiful and refilled very promptly.DariAU$126

This has become my new favorite hotel in Hong Kong. The rooms are relatively spacious, and the views are excellent; even without booking a sea view room, you can still mostly see the sea. The transportation is incredibly convenient; it's just a three-minute walk from the MTR exit. North Point Pier is right downstairs, and the airport shuttle bus is also very convenient – you can take the MTR to 100 from the airport, or bus 47 to the airport. There are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets downstairs. Highly recommended!DariAU$312

Thanks to all the previous reviews, my check-in was very smooth. I stayed in a single room with one single bed and a sofa. Although the room was small, it was enough for one person. It seems like the double rooms just replace the sofa with another single bed.
The hotel staff were excellent and very enthusiastic. I didn't encounter any unpleasant experiences.
The facilities aren't particularly new. The bath towels were a bit frayed from washing. The toothpaste was surprisingly hard, like candy, which I wasn't used to. There's no drinking water provided in the room; you have to get it yourself from a designated spot. Hong Kong's environmental efforts are very thorough.
It was very convenient to take the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel, and then from the hotel to Disneyland and Tung Chung. I'd like to suggest to management that drivers announce the stops at each station, or have pre-recorded announcements in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese playing at each stop. Many people got off at the wrong stop on the way back from Tung Chung because the shuttle goes to the Regal Hotel first.DariAU$154
