The BEST hostel I’ve been in my 7 countries Asian trip. The location, the services, the cleaniliness, the attention, all were great. The hotel is on a renovated old building with exquisite details and curated decoration elements. Everything is clean. The rooms are comfortable and the beds are big enough to have your small backpack in it. There’s a curtain for privacy and it wasn’t crowded. The other guest were very mindful of others. This hotel is relatively new, they opened in Nov 2025 so, it’s still getting known in the travel world. You can use the kitchen that has all the implements to cook, store items in the fridge and prepare a breakfast with ingredients that the hotel provides… free, great breakfast! If you need a towel they give you one at no charge… for now. The location is great. You can walk to the old town of the city and Concubine ln. It’s a really nice walk. That part of the city saw a past splendor and the buildings show it. There are several restaurants around, even some fast food. Two things I would review if I was the owner… I waited for an hr before getting my room while other people got settled immediately. My dorm only had 2 ppl in it, the room was ready when I got there. If you have a bed available, just give away even when there’s no the time. It means a lot to the guest that in general has been traveling long hrs, especially if it’s a small place with not many people. The other thing is to teach us (ignorant westerners), how to use the electric shower heater. I couldn’t make it work because I couldn’t find the on/off button. A small sign could have solved my and others’ frustrations. The owners are doing an excellent job at the hotel. I’m planning to come back so I’ll be a guest again at the Brownstone.

Semuanya hebat. Salah satu hostel terbaik yang pernah saya diami. Sarapan pagi yang lazat. Semuanya difikirkan dengan teliti. Pusat bandar dan tempat pertukaran mata wang berada dalam jarak berjalan kaki. Saya sangat mengesyorkannya. Jika anda tiba lewat, mereka akan menghantar arahan terperinci tentang cara mendaftar masuk tanpa sentuh.

This was the nicest hostel I have stayed in during my travels through Malaysia!!! The beds are extremely comfortable and the sheets feel like hotel quality They provide a good towel for use after one of their many hot showers in a clean and large bathroom There is free hot and cold water, a fridge and laundry services you can use The staff are friendly, polite and helpful Air con is not switched off throughout the day like some hostels (just turn off if you're last to leave the room) There are 3 entrances because at night the main doors are closed. But I was personally shown how to access the building at this time Thank you for restoring my faith in budget travel and providing me a good night's sleep

*****Sangat miskin, sangat sombong, akan sengaja menyasarkan orang Cina apabila mereka masuk negara, saya tidak tahu siapa yang memberi mereka muka, mereka berkulit tebal, jika anda biasa ***, anda akan mendapati bahawa mereka amat menjengkelkan,* *** Saya tidak tahu di mana anda mempunyai muka untuk merasa bahawa anda lebih hebat. Sebuah negara Asia Tenggara tipikal yang tidak termasuk orang Cina. Di Malaysia, hanya orang Cina boleh membantu anda. Orang Peranakan dan Cina mempunyai persaudaraan semula jadi.

The facilities and the service in the hostel are good. The room condition is subjective. 1. The damage is not fixed before opening for the next customer use. Not affect the use of the room but is a bad presentation. 2. The curtain rail rack for the lower bed is not concealed, with a screw expose could cause the upper bed user easily get cut which happen to my daughter. 3. When renovation works are off, there is no immediate cleaning of the common area cause the whole place dusty especially the floor. I think the cleaner did come in to mop the floor later. 4. The noise from the neighboring nightclub hopefully they can be off before 2 am.
