Excellent location for a night of rest after a jazz festival at The Hollywood Bowl.

Hi, the hotel is very clean and hosts very friendly. Unfortunately the neighborhood is not good at all, but this hotel seems like an oasis in the block. I was offered an upgrade from a shared bathroom to a room with private bathroom.

Loved staying here. The location is amazing. it's like a 1 minute walk to the beach and all the other things venice beach has to offer. The staff was always available, friendly, and helpful. I was solo travelling and felt safe here.

I booked in for 2 nights here as a solo female traveller. I had confirmation emails etc. as proof that I had booked a single room - I arrived at the hostel around 6.20pm on a Friday to find I had been placed in a large mixed dorm. The guy on the front desk was polite but totally unhelpful apparently under instruction from his manager. I offered to take any of the female dorms but was told all were sold out. I could not take the bed offered by them in the large mixed dorm, and they offered no like for like alternative. I was told that if i cancelled my stay/didn't check in I would lose my full amount paid as it was outside the cancellation period - they didn't grasp that within the cancellation period I was getting the room I booked, so it wasn't a cancellation on my behalf and was instead them not supplying what was purchased. I wasted so much time here to be offered no help while going through ********** customer support - I eventually gave up at 9:30pm when my employer forked out for a bed in another hotel for me. ********** were meant to get a full refund for me, as they failed to uphold their part of the sale, but 2.5 weeks later I've had or heard nothing from the hostel. To pay for something which is totally unavailable, with no budge room and no option for a refund, is a total scam. Do not book here as a solo female traveller as you will not be respected or safe.

Beautiful clean hotel, excellent customer service, It's easy to get a late check out will definitely stay again

One week trip alone in this magic city SF. Union hotel is ideal for his location ( Mission / Castro) , direct with BART to airport. Staff are amazing and so nice. Rooms are small but clean and functional. Showers and toilets the same. I really recommend for cost-effectiveness!!!

Cedar Lodge terletak sangat baik beberapa batu dari pintu masuk taman di El Portal. Bilik mandi adalah luas dan bilik-bilik dilengkapi dengan sewajarnya selain ketiadaan microwave yang jelas. Jika anda perlu memasak sesuatu dalam ketuhar gelombang mikro, anda perlu pergi ke lobi hotel, dan ini boleh menjadi sedikit berjalan kaki memandangkan keluasan hartanah. Hotel was quaint and quiet but also in need of a lot of upgrades. There was no outlet available where they had the microwave so I had to move it myself into the bathroom area to use it. At check-in I was told check-out time was noon but housekeeping was banging on the door at 11:30, telling me check-out was at 11 and very rude about it.

Parking was $20 per night, not $10 as advertised. Other than that, our stay at the hotel was quite enjoyable, our room was very spacious, it was clean and there was an abundance of amenities.

Stayed here to go to a show at the Greek Theatre. Room smelled and looked clean enough, but there were stains on the bedding, and we only had a sheet and not a blanket. By the time I realized it I was laying down to sleep and was too tired to call the front desk and ask for one. Free parking was a bonus. The fridge was nice and cold, but there aren't ice machines at the hotel. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. There is road noise ALL NIGHT LONG. AJ, who was working the front desk, was very nice and helpful. Overall, for the price and the reason we were there, it worked!

The guest house is about 5km away from the LAX. 15mins by bus. Better to check in early, otherwise there is no single room left. I booked the single room, but only bunk was available, with people talking loudly during the night, which was not really good experience

If you need an affordable motel room within $12 Uber of Venice Beach this is for you. It suited me perfectly for the weekend and here are my thoughts now I’m back in Australia: PROS: Price is good Close to beach Super clean and comfy Maccas right next door and Thai across road Deli and bottle shop around corner Free car parking Friendly staff Double glazed windows stop traffic noise Microwave CONS: Doors are not solid and traffic noise is bad (a shame as the windows are great!) No kettle or coffee machine in room Random people sheltering in stairwell Being cheap you get all sorts of people night and day. Would I bring my family here? Probably not. But for a party night nearby or a bed close to the airport you can’t go wrong. I actually really like the place and would go back any time. Yes an apartment on the beach would be better but they’re 5 times the price and that’s not for me so this place is perfect. I usually take photos but TBH nothing stood out so I didn’t, but it was perfectly fine 👍

Not so bad you can stay there

No frills, nothing fancy, just a decent, honest hotel that is a great place to put your head down for a couple of nights. Stayed here for 2 nights pre/post the Death Ride in Markleeville...a few other cyclists here too. Didn't really use any of the facilities, but had b'fats and evening meals in the hotel and both were good value, with attentive staff and a good selection to choose from. If I ever came back to do the ride again, I'd stay here.

I booked a suite to stay with my parents and the room is so spacious that staying 3 people with at least 9 luggages still feeling very comfortable. The room can be sectioned into 2 bedrooms so that was very nice and create more privacy. Plus, the parking is free for the guess with close gate, it was very safe to stay. I compared the price and space around the close by hotels and this is the winner. Totally recommended.

Fiquei hospedada 3 noites em um quarto feminino, camas no estilo cápsula. O quarto espaçoso e silencioso. O locker grande, sendo que coube meu mochilão, mochila comum e casaco. Em cada andar eles tem um lounge com TV, micro ondas, geladeira, café e chá à vontade. A localização é ótima, perto de mercado, transporte público e pontos turísticos a 20 minutos de caminhada. Adorei e recomendo!

Second time I've stayed here and I'm sorry but I won't be going back. Can't fault the location, being near a cable car line and two BART subway stations, but (sigh) the private room we had here was a dingy, over priced hole. Staff on reception were also noticeably uninterested in our welfare. There was a nice reception lady who helped me with a tour booking. But the guys who booked us in, and booked us out, couldn't have been less interested. Put it like this: had the guy who booked us out asked, 'Hi, how was your stay ? How did you find your room?' (and he didn't ask this - or make any other comment) I would have replied, 'our flight to SF took 11 hours, and we then had to endure over two hours getting through US border security, while jetlagged, then a 30 minute ride on BART, then walked through the Tenderloin in the dark to get to the hostel. After all that it might have nice for your reception staff to at least ask, out of courtesy, how was our journey? Had we travelled far? Etc etc. The usual welcoming small talk. But no, this guy just wanted our IDs and my payment. No hello and welcome. Then there was the room with the bunkbed, the inward facing window and the faint but distinct odour of urine. Walls painted a ghastly shade of green. No air conditioning (when temps were 70-80F) and a small fan that didn't work from the start. The only window faced another window so you had to keep the curtains closed for privacy, which added to the dingy feeling. And for all this I paid over $1100 for seven nights. I know SF is expensive but I'd call that over priced.' Anyway, as I said, the guy who checked us out didn't ask how our stay was and so I didn't tell him any of this. Which is why I'm writing it here. I'm not expecting reception staff to form lasting relationships with customers. There's a high churn rate of faces here, as there are at most hotels and hostels. But I do expect 'hello' 'goodbye' and a room that doesn't smell of urine.

The location is unrivaled,close to the city center,the sightseeing area and China town! The price is unrivaled because it is as low as 35 per night including breakfast!!! The Inn staff is unrivaled as he is so nicely explained everything about the policy for me! The only thing is that the bed is squeaky ,a bit annoying But anyway,it’s a budget inn, right? Will stay there next time in SA

When we complained about the clogged toilet, it was ignored. The sink got clogged up as well. So, if you were in our position, what would you do or how would you file a complaint???

Das Zimmer ist groß und sauber. Das personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Zimmer mit TV und W-LAN. Das personal hilft bei fragen. Direkt neben dran ist ein super kleiner leckerer Coffee Place. Eine empfehlenswerte Pizzeria ist 500 Meter entfernt.

As a digital nomad I frequently travel across California and San Diego is one of my favorite cities. I came across stay classy hostel from a recommendation from a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Stay classy is more like a hotel than a basic hostel. Brandon and Derek the owners are very quick to help and accommodate you at any given moment. I like the fact that they are striving to be a “smart hostel” with digital key locks and upgrades TVs and lighting. They even put fans in the rooms per request of one of the guests. I wish them nothing but luck and think they have a successful franchise on the horizon. I will miss staying at this place as my journey in San Diego has possibly come to a close but I highly recommend it! 5 stars! Ryan

Jennifer Rivera-Nichols 1/5 just now on Google I arrived with my mom to check in at this worst San Diego hostel at 1am...ridiculously exhausted. My mom had just paid to park 2 blocks away and we carried armfuls of belongings with us to the hostel. When we arrived, the clerk was like, ”Reservation?” like my mom was speaking Greek. She said nothing and just walked away. Minute later the owner came in and told my mom that I was not allowed to stay there because I'm under 18. She was talking to my mom like a bully. My mom explained to the owner that our room was already paid for, that she had booked it thru hotels.com as a minor + adult, and that it was 1am already...we're exhausted and where else are we gonna get a room at that hour. I kept falling asleep on their staircase during this time because I was so tired. The lady was arguing with my mom about their rules. Meanwhile, the clerk keeps saying to my mom, ”She's just trying to help you.” That's a lie. If they wanted to help, they could have...but they did not. After a heated conversation, the owner says she will allow me to stay. I was relieved. Then 3 seconds later I just heard her tell my mom, ”Nevermind. I don't like your attitude. You need to get off my property.” WTH Really? This mean lady was gaslighting my mom, bullying her, and was mad at us for just for walking thru the door. She could have approached my mom saying, ”Hi, I'm So-and-So, the owner. It looks like there is a discrepancy with your booking. Because we have shared bathrooms here, we don't allow children. I know it's 1am, and hearing this is really stressful, but let's see what we can do to figure this out. Would you be able to accompany your daughter to the bathroom?” Instead she treated my mom really bad like she had done something wrong. We've stayed at plenty of hostels. None of them had a policy saying I could not be there. I was starting to feel really scared that I would not have a place to sleep since I heard my mom on the phone trying to find a new hotel. They were all full or $300. This Gaslamp Hostel owner is anti-children, anti-family, and made me feel like I had caused my mom so much hassle :-( After we wasted an hour trying to check in and get our money back, I tried to cheer my mom up. I was hugging her while she sat on the phone with hotels.com. I told her I could sleep in the car so she would not have to spend more money or be more stressed, but my mom said it's not safe to sleep in the car, and she didn't know where we could park to do that anyway. My mom was crying when we left. We ended up sleeping in a gross motel smoking room. I saw a bug on the table when we walked in. The owner of this cheap San Diego hotel is not a human being. All the next day, my mom was depressed and sad. This occurrence really ruined our entire weekend. Gaslamp Hostel reviews San Diego. Worst San Diego hostel. Downtown San Diego hostel nightmare. Location was excellent for concert at Petco Park, took Uber and obviously was longer due to concert influx realized take a lime lite would have been faster. Walking expect 25-30 min and going up hill. Service was good at check -in , first night found roaches 🪳 under and around fridge area! Went to lobby for possible accommodations , encountered male fair skin and colored eyes, said they were from the weather (🙄) didn’t seem surprised to hear there were roaches in our room, asked if we can switch rooms- he said they were fully booked and didn’t have anything available which I didn’t even see him check. At this point couldn’t find room to check out for the weekend and left as is. Told cleaning lady that evening and she shared a roach spray to spray in infected area. We didn’t not feel comfortable in this environment and left our snacks and food in bags and placed luggage on our beds and desk to avoid roaches from getting in. Additionally had requested towels and when asked for 4 same lobbyist said 4 was pushing it and only handing two towels even though I had booked two double Queen rooms for 8 people!! Second room has stains on bed sheets and pillows, unsure what exactly it was but looked like blood. Friend got rash on arm and suspected bed bugs, checked sheets and luckily didn’t find any. Bathroom sink had broken handle that came off when lifted. Breakfast was good- early hours 7:30-8:30 , doors closed by 8:25 and you cannot take food out. But decent has French toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal and juices. Parking was small but have additional parking below , just have to walk around the corner.

Staff are half rude and half helpful depending on who works the front desk. The breakfast is more at home in a jail environment then a hotel, the bathtub was clogged the whole time there and they have a stay over policy in which they charge 20 dollars just for you to stay in the same room. Which I find ludicrous and have never heard of such a penny pinching policy and I frequent hotels all over

Was pleasantly surprised by the facility, was clean and neat. Didn't know that I would have a microwave and refrigerator, let alone an iron and ironing board. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Liquor store and gas station convenient store in walking distance. Right next door is the Burger Construction Company, a must stop visit. The food is very good and the service was excellent.
