When I arrived at the hotel, it was very warm in Alicante - 27 degrees at 11pm, in early October (Perfect)! The room however was very very cold, and it was hard to get the fan controls to make it warmer. - I didn't succeed. I could have opened the window, but it was looking into a dark shaft, with some industrial noise, so I left it shut. It was like sleeping in a fridge. There are sporadic, loud whirring noises that suddenly occur, coming from behind one of the walls or ceiling, like perhaps a small service elevator or a device (a machine) being used for something (I was correct in guessing this/ I found out the next day) - You don't necessarily expect to hear it in a hotel room, but you would expect to hear it in a factory or on a ship. The room is large and very nice, but these other matters are disconcerting/ annoying. - It's a shame as it ruins an otherwise reasonably peaceful ambience. I realised when I woke the next day, that I had made a mistake (and I was already looking forward to leaving). It's funny how we dream of going on holiday, only to find that one is staying in a George Orwell / Corporate owned situation, where there is little regulatory or pleasantness (one actually is forced to lose control of many regular things) - In fact, I found myself wishing that Id woken in my own bed, where I'm not forced to listen to odd sounds within a building (rapid whooshing sounds, followed by a thud, over and over) and where Im not forced to endure a room like a fridge / Also I don't know what's going on outside, as there is no light coming in. The next day, I got myself moved to another room. - This was great (much appreciated). A private party started on the roof, with stomping feet and loud music. I hear more and more from people (friends and family), of how they stayed  in a hotel (anywhere in the World), and suddenly a huge wedding starts or a private party, and this is going on pretty much right in front of them, and around them. - IE (the hotel is saying-) - to  hell with the rest of the guests in the hotel, we wanted to take a big chunk of money from this private party, whilst KNOWING they will get complaints, AND not care about those complaints, as they know there are always more and more people who will come and stay at their hotel / establishment. Capitalism, arrogance, lies and greed, rolled into one. This time however, It turns out that I quite liked the music (traditional spanish music), so all is forgiven. Update - there was a 2nd private party on the 3rd night I was here, so the roof was closed to guests again.  The 2 rooms I had, had dreadful squeaking doors IE they just need to put oil on the hinges. The shower water temperature fluctuated a lot, which is something a hotel of this calibre shouldn't do. It's hard to rate this hotel -Over my 4 day stay, my rating has wildly changed between one and five stars (in no consecutive order). Absolutely excellent hotel, from the bedrooms to the service, breakfast and location. I would definitely come here again. The service in the hotel was superb. When you check in, the front staff are super friendly. You're offered a glass of cava on arrival which was a treat and the staff are happy to help with your bags. If your room isn't ready, they store your bags, but then take your bags to your room the moment it is ready so they are there waiting for you. The rooms are fabulous, really spacious, two rooms effectively with an open-plan bathroom, wardrobe and tea/coffee making facilities in one room and the bedroom in the next room. The bed was large and super comfortable and the curtains block out all light. There is also a giant TV for people interested in watching. The roof terrace is wonderful with sun loungers that catch the sun until late. If there after sunset, the views of the fort all lit up are beautiful. There is a terrace bar there too with good service. The pool is unfortunately under cover and very small, but the beach is only 5 minutes walk away so I swam in the sea. If you do wish to go to the beach, the lovely reception staff also provide you with beach towels in a great jute bag and cartons of water. Nothing appears to be too much trouble for them and you're always greeted with a smile. They all speak perfect English too. The breakfast is fantastic. A really wide range of fresh fruits, cheeses, hams, cereals, cakes, croissants etc, as well as an option for cooked food which is cooked to order, with a variety of eggs, bacon, sausage, salmon, mushrooms etc. It also has a cute under-cover terrace in the hotel for lunch, dinner or drinks. All-in-all a really excellent hotel with fantastic staff, positioned two minutes from the promenade, harbour, beach and old town and in easy walking distance to the fort.

I went for a spa treatment at their spa. I had an amazing experience with Veronica who did a wonderful massage and facial. She was very friendly and professional. The spa is set in a beautiful backdrop of the old town. I highly recommend the spa!

We liked this hotel. The location is very good, close to everything! The room was nice and comfortable. The only negative thing was that the water from the shower runs out and forms a lake reaching the toilet every time you take a shower. There is no way to prevent it, unfortunately. The staff were very nice and service minded, 5 stars to the staff from the reception and the cleaning team!

From the moment we crossed the steps to start our holiday we dreaded having to leave. Each and every member of staff were happy and seemed to genuinely want to be there to help their residents. One or two were shy but this didn’t prevent them delivering outstanding service. The room was perfection, cleaned to a high standard everyday and when meeting the cleaning staff they were smiling and greeted us politely. The rooftop offered a bar, dining and sun lounging facilities. Whilst compact for sunbathing it came into its own of an evening. We used the gym and sauna everyday - awesome! The only issue we encountered was the temperature of the shower in the room. Once we made the reception staff aware they immediately went to the room and fixed it, so don’t spend a few days in a cold shower - go straight down and make the team aware. Breakfasts were consistently superb everyday and the offerings were varied, fresh and constantly replenished. We could not find fault with this hotel or any of their amazing team - thank you for making our first time in Alicante so special. Alicante is a fantastic city with a lot to offer and this hotel is a jewel in its crown.

Stayed 1 night at this hotel. Feels like a proper 5 star the moment you walk into the lobby. The staff were extremely welcoming. We had an upgraded room which looked onto the terrace below. The room was very spacious with a super long size bed. As mentioned on other reviews, it felt strange not being able to lower the AC below 24 degrees celsius. The roof top pool is pretty cool, although it’s in a glasshouse. The rooftop bar is great for a drink in the evening. Breakfast was very good, there was a buffet and you could also order from a small menu. I’d happily stay here again.

Hotel Hospes Amerigo is presently ranked as the top place to stay in Alicante, and is apparently a 5 star hotel. It simply can’t be described as a luxury hotel it is, at best, a typical city centre business/corporate affair complete with bland furniture, self service buffet breakfast with an automatic coffee dispenser offering all varieties of coffee…..badly. Don’t be fooled by the website listing a pool, rooftop bar with the finest views in Alicante or a popular long bar as, on our visit, they were all closed. Rooms are dated, ours had the sliding wardrobe doors missing, leaking shower, broken shower control and slow draining basin. Decoration all just tired. Requested a double but bed was two singles pushed together with accompanying single sheets etc. Room doors are on automatic closers which guests seem unable to control resulting in constant banging from the corridors. Pretty lacklustre reception informed us we had a fantastic room with balcony which was partially true, the view however was of a graffitied adjacent building reminiscent of a 1980’s London squat.

Stayed here for a week in June 2023 with my husband. The hotel is lovely, the staff friendly and accommodating, the location great and the breakfast selection plentiful. But, the highlight of the place is the rooftop pool and bar! Day and night you can enjoy fantastic views of Castel de Santa Barbara whilst you swim, relax or have a drink. Would stay again when in Alicante.

This is a very well appointed hotel in a great location to explore old Alicante. The rooms are very clean and well maintained and have good facilities. They are well appointed with modern quality furnishings and represent a lovely base in which to return whilst exploring the city. The pool area is pleasant and with the addition of the spa, gym and bar make it worth a visit. Unfortunately, our room was not twinned when we arrived although we had requested it both when booking and also on check-in. This was resolved reasonably quickly and the reception staff were extremely helpful at all times. The breakfast was good quality and pleasant surroundings and the service very attentive. My only niggle with the service during my stay was that the pool and Terrace service could’ve been more attentive with more frequent visits to see if drinks were required (they would definitely have sold a lot more as it was very warm) overall this is a great hotel which I would recommend and set certainly return to in the future Old town Alicante is excellent with a massive choice places to eat places to drink and things to do and this Hotel is right in the middle of it all.
